Itunes taskbar player

iTunes has (or had...?) an option where when you minimize itunes it goes onto the taskbar as a miniplayer, not to the system tray... does this still exist in itunes 6 (i had to uninstall and reinstall itunes and i cannot find that option) and if so where is the option to do this located?

I've never been able to get it to go anywhere but the system tray.
From iTunes > Help
You can collapse the iTunes window into a "mini player" that shows just the playback controls and status. You can also make the Mini Player window float in front of all other windows, or minimize it to the Windows task bar or system tray.
To shrink the iTunes window down to a floating Mini Player window, choose Advanced > "Switch to Mini Player." To show or hide the song and status information, drag the bottom-right corner of the window. Click the Restore button to return to the full iTunes window.
To make the Mini Player float in front of all other windows so you can always see it, choose Edit > Preferences, click the Advanced tab and click General. Then select the "Keep Mini Player on top of all other windows" checkbox.
To minimize the Mini Player to the Windows task bar, right-click an empty area of the Windows task bar and choose Toolbars > iTunes. Click the Restore button to return to the full iTunes window.
To minimize the Mini Player in the system tray, choose Edit > Preferences, and click the Advanced tab and click General. Then select the "Minimize iTunes window to system tray" checkbox.

  • ITunes Taskbar Buttons: No Functionality

I have the latest version of iTunes. When recently updating, I've lost the functionality of my taskbar buttons. I've tried Googling for solutions, and none have worked.
I haven't tried reinstalling iTunes, but from what I've seen that hasn't worked for others.
Is there anything else I can do? I do have it showing up in my system tray, and that's the only method that I can use to restore the iTunes window.
    Thanks in advance!

    I found this link helpful:
    http://grupenet.com/2007/07/14/enable-itunes-taskbar-player/
The key insight seems to be that you should UNCHECK the minimize to system tray icon button in "advanced preferences". Hope that helps!

  • How do I get iTunes 11 back into the taskbar player?

I had the taskbar player for iTunes 10, and it was perfect. I'm using Windows 7, and now that I've updated to iTunes 11 I can't get the taskbar player back.
The mini player is just not at all as useful as the taskbar player is, and I want the taskbar player back!! How do I get it to do it? I've followed all the steps that worked for iTunes 10.
All the threads in the forums are years old, and not helpful to me.

It's worth noting that the program ONLY minimizes to the taskbar player when you use the minimize button in the upper toolbar - a ridiculous thing now, since it didn't have a problem realizing that I wanted it to minimize to the taskbar player in 10 even when I minimized it by clicking on the program icon in the taskbar.
Is it always going to stay this finicky?!

  • ITunes taskbar visible but doesn't work!!!!

I have the iTunes taskbar in my Windows taskbar, but none of the buttons work!!! Any ideas???

I recall in the past and over on the forum for Mac Pro on MacRumors there were (late 2011 probably) issues with Drobo and CalDigit, and issues with USB3 in general.
I know that Sonnet has one, and they are clear in their specs about what is and is not supported.
I would put the fault with Drobo. CalDigit has revised their chipset that they use a couple of times so if you just bought it should be latest.
Posts without Mac OS version tend to then assume you are not taking chances iwth Mavericks and more than likely using 10.8.5, but we have no way t o know if you don't include  in details.
To test, use a bare minimum system. Hard restarts add t heir own problems. And maybe clone your system anytime you are upgrading, installing, making changes.

  • After formatting iPod to NTFS and restoring back with iTunes, the player works for two-three weeks and crashes afterward. It then requests to restore it through iTunes.

After reformatting iPod to NTFS and restoring back with iTunes, the player works for two-three weeks and crashes afterward. It then requests to restore it through iTunes. When connected to iTunes, it sees it in the restore mode and also asks to restore the iPod. It happens over and over for the last months. What could be the problem?
    iPod Classic 80Gig.
    Thanks in advance.

    Dear planb77
Thanks for a reply. iPod does not support ntfs - you're right. that means it will never work on that. While restoring ipod using iTunes, itunes reformats it no matter what filesystem is there. So the issue is not that. ipod is now on fat32 and it works for a certain period of time, but then crashes and asks to restore through itunes. Resetting/restarting does not help.

  • 'Itunes music player' file- HELP ME

I recently downloaded (legally- so it should work) an album online and it saved into my downloads on my computer as an itunes music player file. i cannot get it to open or play on my itunes, anyone know how i can do this? thanks.

A .zip file is a compressed archive and needs to be uncompressed with an unzip utility such as WinZip. That should give you the actual track files which you can drag into iTunes.
    Regards.

  • ITunes' Taskbar-playing mode doesn't show itself if ObjectBar Installed

iTunes' Taskbar-playing mode doesn't show itself if ObjectBar Installed and disabled. Stardock said that iTunes doesn't recognize Objectbar when I tell the Stardock support. The iTunes menu bar in ObjectBar won't appear unless you are using it with iTunes Multi-pluggin. Even with this pluggin. iTunes doesn't shrink into the taskbar as taskbar-playing mode. Stardock said that this feature won't be available unless Apple can recognize ObjectBar as a valid taskbar replacement.

This is the message that I composed to Stardock Support about iTunes' compatibility on ObjectBar:
Why ObjectBar disables iTunes taskbar-playing mode? when i install ObjectBar and I have already installed iTunes on my Windows XP PC with taskbar-playing mode enabled, I can't shrink the iTunes window into the taskbar-playing mode.
And Stardock Support Replied at me:
    Hello Harry,
ObjectBar doesn't disable this feature specifically. ObjectBar hides the Taskbar to reduce redundancy, but iTunes had likely been written to hardcode the taskbar-playing mode into the Windows taskbar and doesn't recognize ObjectBar.
Unfortunately this feature will not be available unless Apple can recognize ObjectBar as a valid taskbar replacement.
But I'm already tell these problems to Apple.

  • ITunes mini player and Spaces

I am a big fan of using Spaces to clean up my workflow, but I have one minor quibble/question. I would like to display the iTunes mini player (the one you get by pressing the green button in iTunes twice) in ALL of my spaces. That way I can pause, fastforward, etc no matter what Space I'm working in.I don't really want to assign iTunes to ALL spaces to accomplish this. Any thoughts?

There are a number of utilities that will put Icons for Rew|Play/Pause|Fwd on the menu bar, or you can use the keyboard on most modern Macs with designated assignments for these functions on F7, 8 and 9.
Not exactly what you want, but like you, it's what I have to make do with.

  • ITunes mini player on top of a full screen Safari page

When you make a full screen Safari page, is there any way to put the iTunes mini player go on top of this page? I did this once by accident, but now whenever I try to open iTunes while in full screen Safari, the iTunes mini player opens to the main desktop page.

    Thanks for the reply.
I'm listening to an audio podcast that's reffering to images on his sight. When you go full screen it shows the images best, but you lose the ability (space bar) to pause/play the podcast audio. It would be nice to be able to view and study the images a bit longer, but not having to keep futsing around with everything.
Is there a way to get the Mini player in the same Space as Safari?

  • Itunes mini player in keynote

After searching through the forums I haven't really stumbled upon an answer to this...
Is there a way to see the itunes mini player in your keynote presentation screen? I have my macbook set up to a projector and I need to play music throughout the presentation. I would love to be able to control itunes without having to leave the presenter screen so there's no interruption in my presentation. You can customize a lot of options for your presenter screen but the itunes mini player is not one of them. Is there a workaround that anyone has found?
Thanks so much for the help.
    -jeff

If you search the Keynote forums for "Dashboard" and "Widget", you will find a technique for having widgets float above Keynote presentations (and there are plenty of iTunes controller widgets). I have not tested this in Snow Leopard, however.

  • Have a iTunes music player file that won't open through iTunes - help!

I downloaded a music file from the internet that is an iTunes music player file, and now when I try to import it to iTunes it won't open or even if I just try to open the file it brings up iTunes, but no music is opened or played. I've tried to change the file's format through iTunes but i couldn't figure that out and I've tried to save it as a different type of file when I downloaded but that didn't work either. HELP PLEASE! I WANT MY MUSIC!!

You have to have some kind of unzip program. Windows does not come with a built-in unzip program.
Useful info, Katrina. It's been so long since I had install an app to handle that (Remember Stuffit?) that it didn't occur to me that Windows either couldn't do it or didn't come with a utility along with all the other stuff that seems to come on an new computer.

  • ITunes Taskbar Cause Windows Taskbar Missing

When I switched on the iTunes taskbar in WindowsXP, it covered my ordinary Windows taskbar (the part which you see what program is running in the background). Being unable to resize them and make them to fit with each other and coexist, I switched off the iTunes taskbar, hoping to get my Windows taskbar back, unfortunately, it seems to be gone with iTunes taskbar and it is just gone.
Now I have to keep using Alt-Tab to switch between programs, which is a serious problem.
Please help me out or my next avenue of solution may be erasing my current HDD with previous image.
    Thanks!

I have a related problem; see this discussion. I've never had the iTunes taskbar turned on, but after playing a video in full screen my tasbar will often disappear--not hidden, genuinely gone. (Note that, unlike alanngli, this is fixed for me after restart; also, the fix the user in the link describes--turning on and off auto-hide--brings the taskbar back. This might help your situation, alanngli. But still it would be nice not to have to keep doing that!)

  • My iTunes radio player sound quality has degraded, what happened?

My iTunes radio player sound quality has degraded, what happened?
The other day I was checking out radio stations in iTunes, after I tuned to one of them odd thigs happened, i just moved on. Now my iTunes radio sounds like i am listeneing through a box or can on all stations.
    Can anyone help?

It sounds like you blew out the paper cone that delivers the sound from the speaker. Depending on how much pressure you used to blow out would determine if the speakers are gone. From the sounds of it and your comment about it happened right after you blew air into the speakers tell me that is what happened. The speakers in an laptop are small and somewhat fragile. The edges of the paper vibrate when it receives the sound and after some passage of time they get weak and if you blew air directily on them, poof they're gone.

  • ITunes Mini-player in Taskbar on Vista x64?

    Howdy,
I have had Vista Ultimate Retail from the day it come out, but I have only just installed it instead of XP. In XP you could Right Click the taskbar and select Toolbars > iTunes and when you minimised iTunes it would show a mini player in the Windows taskbar giving easy access to the play/rewind/pause etc buttons... just like Media Player.
Well I cannot do it in Vista x64? Any reason why I cannot do this? Or has it just not been introduced into Vista yet? I'm sure I have read people on here being able to get it work? But How?
    Any help will be appreciated!

    keogh,
I can understand your frustration, however the Microsoft Windows 64-bit is currently not supported by iTunes. Some features may not work correctly. This article has more information:
