ITunes Telling Porkies

I am running iTunes 10.5.3.3 on my Laptop with an XP OS and have been experiencing issues with iTunes lying about how much free space is left on my iPhone 4 16Gb. Currently iTunes is telling me that I'm over capacity by 0.12Gb yet when I look in my iPhone it tells me that there is 392Mb of free space left! Anyone got any ideas? The iPhone is running 5.0.1(9A405) Thanks

It lets me sync my iPhone but keeps giving me incorrect information after the sync has finished. I've checked the settings, I've set it up do I have a special playlist for my iPhone and this is how I update my music. This has been fine for the past year or two but this has only been happening for the past few weeks. It's annoying more than anything.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • Help! Itunes telling me firmware doesn't support apps

We have two itouch 2nd gens. One of them, which I have done a restore on for the firmware, will not sync apps. I get an error message from itunes telling me I don't have firmware that supports those apps although I have all these apps on the other 2nd gen we have. What should I do?

Many apps have been update and the update apps are not compatible with the 2G iPod. I would do that by deleting the apps from your iTunes library and then transfer them from the other iPod to iTunes. See:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
Delete all apps that are on your iPod from your iPod and then transfer then from the iPod to the computer by:

  • ITunes telling me to re-install iTunes when I connect my iPhone.

I couldn't find the proper solution for this, I'll play around with iTunes a little but in the mean time I'll ask the question here, maybe I'll get a decent answer.
The problem is, when I connect my iPhone to iTunes, I get an error telling me to re-install the 64-bit version of iTunes, which I have done multiple times.
I'm trying to find solutions on google, but I cannot find ANY solutions. I've found a toping saying you have to uninstall all apple programs, and then reinstall iTunes, I'll try that. If you know the solution on are experiencing the same thing, please let me know and I'll share the solution with you (if I find any).
    Greetings, Dylan.

  • ITunes telling me my password is incorrect.

iTunes (on my Windows PC) is telling me that my password is incorrect, yet I'm able to use it on my iPad and on the account website.  I've even restored it, and iTunes won't let me sign in.  Any suggestions?  This first happened immediately after I updated to iTunes 11.0.2.25.

The backup encryption passcode has nothing to do with locking a user out of their backup.
If the encryption passcode has been forgotten, nothing can be done.  There is no reset for the encryption passcode.
Delete the backup and create a new one.

  • New version of iTunes telling me to connect device to J: drive

Hello. I recently upgraded to the most recent version of iTunes on my Windows Vista PC. When I went to sync my iPods (I have two), I got a message to "connect a device to my J: drive", but the iPod was already connected! It went ahead and synced, but I kept getting the same message, even though I clicked Cancel, Ignore, etc. So then I couldn't eject my iPod and it kept telling me not to disconnect it. But everytine I clicked the eject button I would get the J: drive message. I finally had to disconnect my iPod without ejecting it, even though I had the "Do not disconnect" message on both iPods and was afraid I would damage them.
This is really weird. Is this happening to anyone else? It seems I have had nothing but problems since I got Vista. It's enough to make me want to buy a Mac mini just to run iTunes on (I'm sure this is what Apple wants to hear). I have too much time and money invested in iTunes for it not to work properly.

Something very similar happened to me last week - I got the 'j' drive message so I clicked cancel, about a minute later itunes said it had synced my ipod but the ipod was saying 'do not disconnect' - I waited a few minutes but nothing changed so I re-synced (even tho nothing was going to alter) and it worked fine. Not an ideal solution but it did work

  • ITunes telling me I don't have enough access privileges

My iPOD won't sync with my itunes library because it's saying I do not have enough access privileges for this operations.
I have admin privileges running XP and using iTunes 10.1.2.
    Any help would be appreciated...

I'm not sure what it means. I was just sitting here playing around on the internet, and I had iTunes running in the background and listening to music. So every now and then I go to iTunes to see what is playing or coming up next, and there is an alert there telling me that I don't have enough access privileges to save the music library. I didn't even try to save anything at all. I didn't do anything to it.

  • HT201401 I just restored my iPhone and it worked, but it will not let me go any further (iTunes telling me "The iPhone you have connected may be damaged and cannot be activated") so I'm trying to find out how to get past this... Why is it "damaged"?

It all started when one day all of a sudden the heat was bad here, and I sat in the car with the AC on and my phone on the dash board, charging. Next thing that happened was that when I got home I let my son play with it (which he always takes good care of it, watching youtube videos) and then later on that evening when I payed attention to the back of it, it looked super swollen. You could see where tears in the white backing of my iPhone were from whatever had caused this. I thought it was from the heat, just expanding the case. Well, it had obviously got too hot in the sun on the dashboard and over a few hours had almost got to the point of exploding. I did not know that just a little bit of heat from the sun could do that, so anyways.
I ordered a new battery online and replaced that, in the process loosing two screws, the two at the bottom which hold the LED touch screen in place. Although it doesn't move without the screws, I do need to replace those also. Everything works fine. Buttons, touch screen, I just think there might be a small problem with the mother board, from the battery swelling and causing it to bend, or even heating the metal on it. That would suck, total bummer.. Anyways, anyone with a solution or even a bit of advice, or just a suggestion please feel free to help. I have taken it apart one last time after I restored it, and cleaned it very little with alcohol, thinking that might be a problem, but still nothing yet...
I hope I get this phone working again, not use for a phone, but for games, music, and videos. Thank anyone for your help! It's greatly appreciated!
    HOLLY

If things seem to be going haywire with your phone, it seems that it MAY be a software issue.
Now, that being said, that does not necessarily mean that it is a virus. Software issues do happen sometimes. It is probably just coincidence.
What you need to do is restore the device using iTunes. This will fix any software issues. After you have done this, you can restore from an iCloud backup.
iCloud does not back up the actual software, so no, the "virus" would not have gotten into the backups.
The link below provides steps on restoring your device using iTunes as well as how to restore from an iCloud backup.

Don't worry! Everything should be back to normal if you follow these steps.

  • I cannot change my username despite Itunes telling me I must change it from my aol username.  All support has told me is to log in and I will be cued to do so.  This doesnot happen.  This is my 4th attempt at help.

Itunes sent email that said I had to change username from aol account.  I have logged out, logged in again and no cue to change this pops up.  I have attempted 3 different times to get help and each time, someone tells me to do the SAME EXACT THING THAT I HAVE DONE 20 TIMES AND HAD NO EFFECT.  The only thing that itunes allows me to do is change my password NOT MY USERNAME.

Details of the upgrade process are at Convert your AOL Username to an Apple ID, however you only need to make this change if your AppleID is based on an AOL screen name rather than an email address that ends in say @aol.com or @aol.co.uk.
The fact the you've tried signing out and in again without being promoted suggests your Apple ID is based on your email address and therefore nothing needs to be done.

  • Itunes telling me I don't have the 64 bit version??

When I connect my iphone to itunes it says the correct software is not installed and that I should uninstall intunes and then reinstall the 64 bit itunes.
However, I already have the 64 bit version installed, it's version 10.6.3.
Any ideas how do I solve this?
    Thanks,
    Andy

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Why is iTunes telling me to authorize my computer, when it already is?

So I bought a few songs, and one of them won't play until I "Authorize my computer." It is authorized, and i've never been told to authorize it again. But I do anyways, and it tells me " Your computer is already authorized. Including this one, you have authorized 3 computers out of your available 5." So I say "ok" and try to play the song. I get the same "Authorize your account first" message. It's a loop! Anyway to fix it? This shouldn't happen, and i'm upset that itunes hasn't been up to standards lately (One 5 minute song I bought contains only 3 minutes of music, the last two is absolute silence. I fixed it with audicity). So any help Apple?
