Itunes tells me I am using a new computer, can't download

Itunes tells me that I'm accessing from a new computer or device.when I try to edit my credit card info in "STORE/"VIEW MY APPLE ID...."   The card expired 3 months ago but when I try to update it it tells me the info does not match their records. I have authorized this computer several times. I have not been able to make any purchases.  For the record the "C" drive is a clone of the prior disk. I have Acronis & every 3 months or so I clone my C drive to another drive, place the clone in the pc & save the original. Itunes might see the clone as another pc although I've done this many times.

The ipod is not a backup device. The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  Without syncing:File>transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your backup copy of your  old computer to your new one.

If you have a rescue email address set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address set up then go to Express Lane  and select 'iTunes' from the list of 'products' in the middle of the screen.
Then select 'iTunes Store', and on the next screen select 'Account Management'
Next choose 'iTunes Store Account Security' and fill in that you'd like your security questions/answers reset.
You should get an email reply within, I think, about 24 to 48 hours (and check your Spam folder as well as your Inbox)

  • If I get a new computer, can I download my music to that new computer from the cloud via iTunes match?

I just bought a new computer and was wondering if i authorize it, will it be able to download the songs I own if they're uploaded on itunes match. Thanks all.

If you call around, you might be able to find an apple authorized repair shop in your area that can offer to put pull the hard dive out of the old computer and put it into an external hard drive.

  • New computer , can i download from my account in itunes my purchesed songs

    hi ,
i got my first mac , in the proccess of transfering music from PC i lost some music . i see that i have records of my purchased music in my account in ITunes .
can i download them again since i paid for them ????
    imac   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Sorry, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased tracks. If somehow you accidentally deleted the tracks from your PC, and you haven't made a backup and don't have your tracks on an iPod, you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase your tracks.
If they have indeed been deleted, you can try contacting iTunes Music Store Customer Service and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis, but don't count on it.

  • I recently lost my hard drive; after downloading iTunes on my new computer can I download the CD's that are on my iPod to the computer?

Can you transfer the albums from the iPod to iTunes on the computer while sync the two without loosing what is loaded on the iPod?

Content purchased from iTunes can be redownloaded.
Content acquired from other sources will need to be reloaded from those sources, iDevices are NOT backup devices.
The simplest solution, restore all the media from the backup of the old computer.

  • If i update my iphone 4 to the ios5 will it erase all my stuff on it if i use a new computer and a new itunes with nothing on it?

can anyone tell me if i update my iphone to the new ios5 will it erase all of my personal things on it if i use a new computer and a new itunes that has nothing on it? or will the back up save all my music and pictures and stuff like that? thanks

I had to go through this today (got a new computer recently). I ended up pluggng in my phone to the new computer and then doing a sync and a backup, and Image Capture to get all your pics just in case. Then I did an update check wnen iOS 5 became active and it said that it was going to erase everything and I hit OK. And after that install was complete, I did "restore from backup" which said it would restore everything that was backed up except the new iOS 5 firmware (that stayed put). Just a few tweaks here and there and it all worked for me.
    Hope this helps a bit

  • My songs have all been duplicated.  All my music is on external hard drive and I want it to stay there.  Am using a new computer and thought I'd done all the required things for my library to show on iTunes 11.

I'm using a new computer.  All my music is on an external hard drive and I want it to stay there.  Before installing iTunes on the new computer, I followed turingtest2's instructions as to the layout of all the iTunes folders (Itunes folder, Itunes Media, Music, etc...).  I also followed his instructions as to get all my music in iTunes on the new computer (but keeping all the media on the external drive).  Now my songs are all duplicated in my library (I normally have about 15,000 of them). They all play when I click onto them.  Also, I've lost all my playlists, and all the songs in the library are now ticked. I've already spent hours trying to sort this out, but can't seem to find a solution.  Help please!

    Hi turingtest2,
Thank you for replying.  I've been looking at your posts about setting up iTunes using an external drive.  A bit of background info.  My old computer broke down, so I got a new one from work.  I've always kept my music files on my external drive (I have around 170GB of music).  I didn't follow the suggestions in the "migrate iTunes library" post because my old computer died on me.  However, I've looked at your posts about lay out of the iTunes folders.  Before connecting to iTunes on the new computer, I had reorganized my iTunes folder on my E: external drive, and created an iTunes folder which contains an iTunes Media subfolder.  The music files are in a Music folder, which is in the iTunes Media folder.  I've also put the following files in my iTunes folder: iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, iTunes Music Library.xml, as well as sentinel.  I then followed the advice you gave bmw99 on 2 Nov 2013 at 9.58 (sorry, can't copy the exact answer).
Just to clarify:  I'd like to keep all my music media on the E: external hard drive (the computer hard drive is too small), and I'm aware i might never have my playlists back, and that all the songs in my library might be ticked.  However, I don't want my library to be duplicated.
I'm at work at the moment, but will be back home in about 10 hours, so I can be more specific about folders / files names.
I'm glad you picked up my message and greatly appreciate your help.

If you're using a fourth generation or earlier iPod touch, click here and download the software.
If you're using a fifth generation iPod touch and an Intel Mac, buy Mac OS X 10.6 from the online Apple Store and run Software Update.
If you're using a fifth generation iPod touch and a PowerPC Mac, buy a newer computer.

Because you can only synce with one iTunes library and you are switching libries by using the new computer. To nake this yyour syncing computer:
    - Move all the media(apps, music, synced video and photos etc) to the new computer.
    - Connect the iPofd yo the computer and bake a backup fo the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the backup that iTunes makes doe not include media.
To move mdia to the new computer see:

Do you have the iCloud set up?  If you don't you need to buy a third party software that will do it for you when you plug your phone into the new computer.  You can google: iPad/iPhone/iPod to Computer Transfer.  You have to pay for the software but it's really a life saver and you get free updates for life.  It'll save you a lot of pain and suffering in the future.  I've used it many times.

    From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

An Added Bonus is that you will have a Backup of iTunes.

    Hi Kevin,
Have you authorized the Computer to your Apple ID?
If not, sign on to iTunes.
Then got to the Store menu option at the top of the screen (CTL+B if it is not showing), and click on it to display the dropdown, and select Authorize this computer.
If that doesn't work, then sign on your Dad's iTunes ID and repeat the Authorization process.
    Cheers,

I recently purchased a new PC. I had backed-up my old computer on Carbonite, so I was able to transfer my iTunes library to the new computer when I downloaded my info from Carbonite, but the playlists are gone. Is there a way to restore my playlists?
Most of my playlists are on my iPod. If I use my iPod to transfer, will the songs double in my library? Also, how do I do this?
Thank you for any & all info you can provide!
    Julie

If you had backed up and restored your library properly you should have ended up with the playlists too. Did you import the media folder from the backup drive into a new library rather than restoring the entire iTunes folder?
