ITunes tells me my IPhone doesn't have enough memory for all the items in my iTunes library...

However, i had about a gigabyte (or so) free before I added only ten more songs to my library. Now, though, when I try to sync, I get the following message: The iPhone “John Masella’s iPhone” cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 1.05 GB required). Initially, ITunes told me I needed about 3 gigabytes, but I deleted some pictures and apps. I don't know what to do at this point, because I really have nothing else I can delete. If anyone could provide me with some assistance, I would be very appreciative.
Essentially, I have 3.74 GB free and am only syncing ten more songs to my phone, but ITunes tells me there is not enough memory.

I had a similar problem, and other answers allude to the kind of solution that works. What was rather annoying for me was that, by deleting a few apps, the iTunes display suggested I should have plenty of room. Furthermore, the error message included the bizarre phrase "the required space is 1.26MB but only 126MB is available": yes, more space available than needed by a factor of 100!
What seems to be the case is that the sync does not necessarily remove everything you specify for removal before copying things on that you want  on the device. Therefore, even if you have enough space for what you intend to have on your device at the end of the sync, it won't help if the space is insufficient to copy at least some things on in the first place. So I actually solved the problem by deleting one of the apps on the iPhone, which was an app I was going to remove anyway. In general (on iOS 8), go to Settings | General | Usage | Storage then choose something you are happy to be without.

Create one or more playlists containing a selection of music you want on the device and sync those rather than the entire library.

  • Startup disk doesn't have enough memory for applications

I keep getting this message that my startup disk doesn't have enough memory for applications, and advising me to quit apps. Even after a restart I get the same message. I am using only about 10% of my hard drive and I have 4GB or RAM. I have run Disk Utility to repair permissions, I have confirmed that my MacintoshHD is the startup drive, but still keep getting this message. I am running Snow Leopard on a three-year old iMac. What gives?

Startup disks don't provide memory, RAM modules do. When the machine runs out of usable RAM, it uses disk space for virtual memory. Step one would be to run the Apple Hardware Test program, extended tests, and ensure that your RAM is viable. If the RAM passes those tests, download, and run Rember.

  • HT201317 I got photostream on my Iphone and Ipad, because my Iphone doesn't have enough memory to have all my pictures in it. I therefore felt it would be much easier to store my pictures in photostream. But not everyone got in there! What do i do?

How to I get all my other pictures into photostream to?!

Photos that were taken before you activated photo stream are not added to the stream.  And besides, once on the stream, they will still be on your device, so there's no storage savings there.
However, like any digital camera, always sync photos to a computer (in your case, use USB, since photo stream won't get all your photos) and store them there - perhaps that was your intent anyways.  Once you get them on the computer, then you can delete them from the device.

  • I have an old MacBook laptop and it doesn't have enough memory for a new version of Firefox; why can't I keep the old version which works fine on this computer?

I am running Firefox version 3.6.23 and I keep getting a message saying that I should upgrade, but I am working on an older MacBook laptop computer with 640 MB of memory and an 800 MHz Power PC G4 with Mac OS X version 10.4.11 and when I tried to upgrade, your message said that it couldn't happen. Please let me keep running the older version of Firefox because it works fine on my old laptop.

The latest 9.0.x version is not compatible with your os.
see :[http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/9.0.1/system-requirements/ Firefox 9 System Requirements]
Firefox 4 versions and later do not run on a '''PowerPC Mac'''(like yours) and require '''at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac'''.
The latest supported version for your os is '''3.6.25''' (you have 3.6.23), your can download from here:

  • Trying to update iPhone but my computer doesn't have enough memory and I don't want to loose media.

Trying to update iPhone but my computer doesn't have enough memory for backup.  It says I will loose all media off phone if I proceed.  What do I do?

I think you misunderstand... iCloud backups are stored in the cloud and not on the PC. So, if you do an iCloud backup, it won't take up room on the PC.
But, if you want to transfer the iTunes purchases over, set up Home Sharing. Also, see this link.

When I try to sync my iphone with itunes, it tells me a warning that I don't have enough memory and yet the status bar at the bottom says that I do and I know that I have enough memory. What's the problem? It happens with the ipods and ipad as well!!!

The new iTunes has a somewhat different look from the previous version.  You can get the old look back if you prefer it by doing View > Show Sidebar in iTunes.  Or you can adapt to the new look.

In the past I have always been able to adjust the memory of each individual application,
my Adobe Illustrator CS5 appears that is doesn't have enough memory to complete a particular project.
How do I boost the amount of memory that Illustrator uses so I can complete my project?

With OS X, it automatically allocates RAM and it can't be allocated manually.
What model Mac do you have and what OS X version is it running. Your profile shows a PowerMac and OS 10.6.8. A PowerMac can't run OS 10.6.8. It's max OS is 10.5.x
How much RAM is installed in your Mac? You need to max out the RAM and close other open apps if you are having problems with Illustrator.

On my windows PC outlook express is NOT running and as far as i know, NOT installed.
How do I install Outlook Express??

Disk storage issues frequently happen if the hard disc is over 85% full.    Make sure your trash can is emptied after backing up any files you want to keep elsewhere.

  • HT1364 What do I do if my computer doesn't have enough memory to do step 10?

I have run out of memory on my laptop. I bought an external hard drive when I first downloaded iTunes. I thought I had iTunes set up to go to the external hard drive, but it isn't. It has eaten up all my free space on my computer. I was trying to follow the steps for moving iTunes to the external hard drive, but I don't have enough memory for step 10. What do I do?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

  • Syncing Error: iphone doesn't have enough space when there's plenty

When I sync my iPhone, I sync contacts, calendars, music, podcasts. I have the 8 gig.
The space meter bar shows blue, purple etc... and I'm only using 6 gigs.....
    Here is the problem...
When I try to sync my iPhone back to my mac, it turns the space bar completely yellow and says it doesn't have enough space on my iPhone to sync. The error msg. only sees the amt. of space left (approx 2 gigs) after a full sync.
A full restore takes care of it, but I am having to restore every time I sync.
Itunes doesn't seem to overwrite the old info....it just tries to put the original 6 gigs on to my already full iPhone.
I have version 1.1.1 iPhone and version 7.4.2 (4) itunes
Is this an auto sync prob?
    Any help?

Likely you have a corrupted file, they tend to wreak havoc on the phone. Try this...
Sync 1 section at a time, when you hit the culprit you will know which sync it is under.
Then you will need to work with that sync to try to locate the corrupt file, eliminate parts to see which part it is in. Weed it out, it will take time but you will eventually find the culprit.
    Good luck!

  • If you don't have enough memory for os x lion is there another way to get it?, If you don't have enough memory for os x lion is there another way to get it?

It is a 2006 model. I don't have enough memory on this but is there any other way to get it on here?

You will need at least a model 2,1 Core 2 Duo. The model1,1 Core Duo can not run Lion.
To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.

  • I have to use an application for work that isn't supported in Mt. Lion and my 2008 Macbook doesn't have enough ram for Lion. Should I update ram or get a new computer?

So, it would be a stretch to buy a new computer, but I could if I needed to. The fan on this computer gets a little loud and the computer will sometimes get hot, but it works fine. I don't want to invest in a computer that doesn't have long to live, but I also don't want to buy a new computer when I have a perfectly good one... Suggestions?
    The application is Sookasa.

A loud fan could indicate a hardware issue which could only get worse when tampering with the RAM.
    Backup your data.
What is the application, and version of application?  Perhaps we can find something that works with your operating system?   Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac to tell us your existing operating system.

  • Why can't I download apps onto my iphone when i have enough memory and my apple password is correct.

I have sucessfully downloaded apps on my iphone many times in the past. Now, when I select and try to install an app it begins to download, I put in my password and then everything reverts back to the start. I have lots of memory and even free apps won.t download. I've looked and read all the support manuals online and nothing helps.
Has anyone had this problem before and knows how to help. I would appreciate any advice.

You will have to call Apple and ask for Account Security.
