Itunes through monitor speakers

I have an m-audio firewire solo. I want to get monitors. I have limited space for equipment. When I want to listen to music, is it possible for me to route iTunes into my interface so I can hear it through the monitor speakers? Can I do the same for Final Cut Pro? Or do I need to reconnect them to my computer? Is there a reason I should not use monitor speakers to listen for casual music listening? Or, should I also get standard computer speakers for this?

I listen to music from iTunes through several speakers. I have a motu 828mkll and I have a 1000 watt power amp connected to the audio out jack on the G5. On the 1000 watt amp is a pair of 8810 Linear Phase Studio Monitors to simulate a really good home stereo system. Also connected to the amp is a pair of JBL bookshelf speakers to simulate the average consumer grade home stereo. Conncected to the 828 are a pair of Event Studio Precision 8 powered monitors that I mix with. Depending on what I'm doing I could be listening to any one pair of speakers. I sometimes listen to the 8810's and JBL's at the same time.

How to listen to itunes through external speakers

I have Intempo IDS ipod speakers and want to know how to plug them into my laptop so i can listen to my itunes playlist through the speakers... I have read that there should be a box in the bottom right of the screen to select speakers but I do not have this and I do have the look for speakers box ticked in my preferences.
Any suggestions? what needs to be plugged in where?

That is only for speakers connect to an Airport Express wireless system. There is no setting in iTunes to play through speakers connected to your computer. All you should have to do is plug them into your laptop's audio/headphone output.

Airport play iTunes through multiple speakers at once?

Ok, this seems like a simple need to me but:
For parties I would like to have iTunes streaming music via Airtunes to multiple Airport Express / speaker combos at the same time so that guest moving about the house are hearing continuous music. But iTunes pull-down only lets me select one speaker set at a time. Am I missing something? Or is Apple?

You are on the same track as I am. I want to "beam" my music to several sets of speakers in different rooms. I know they have to be powered speakers- either independently powered or hooked up to a receiver unit, but why can't we use Airport to "beam" music wherever we want it? Technology has a ways to go, I guess.

Playing iTunes through Bluetooth Speakers

Hi, i'm trying to play my itunes thorugh my new Dr Dre Beats Pills, bluetooth is connected, everything seems fine but as i hit play no music plays, not at all the track wont even starts, its like its paused?? please help!

You posted about another audio issue in a separate thread, and it might have been easier to post them together. Because they are actually related.
If you don't care about surround sound (and it sounds like you don't), then the easiest solution is to use analog audio.
One suggestion I would offer is to connect a 1/8" (headphone) to RCA stereo cable into the Mini, and then feed that into a pair of RCA splitters. Feed one splitter output to the TV and the other to your external speakers.
Or, you could just use the external speakers all the time and not bother with the TV's internal speakers, which are probably not that great anyway. In my system, whenever the TV is on, the receiver is on. The TV's internal sound is disabled and my speakers provide all the sound reproduction -- be it music, movies, or TV. I would not want it any other way.

My question is as follows....
When Macbook is linked to tv via airplay, which is my normal setup as I produce music and use both screens, the sound output is set through Saffire audio interface and comes out the monitor speakers and all is good with the world, however, I want to be able to sit back and watch the apps on Apple TV as is shown on the big screen there ie. Netflix/NBA TV, but still using my computer soundcard and hence through the monitor speakers instead of it switching back to the TV sound.
IS THIS POSSIBLE???

Generally speaking, the output of a headphone port can often be used for the connection to an amplifier. You would need an appropriate cable (typically, 3.5 mm stereo plug to two RCA plugs). Choose a suitable amplifier input (high level). Do verify the allowed amplifier input voltage levels and the impedance before you connect.

ITunes 12.1 won't play through bluetooth speakers

Ever since the latest iTunes update (12.1.0.71 64 bit), my music from iTunes won’t play through my bluetooth speaker connected to my laptop. Every other sound the computer makes plays through the speakers while iTunes plays through the laptop’s built in speakers.The speakers are also set as the default audio device for the computer. There aren’t any options in the iTunes preferences that would allow me to choose an audio device to play music through.
**My iTunes is operating on a Windows laptop and the bluetooth speakers are JBL if this helps, but everything was working fine until this new update**

There is an alternative version for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address the most of the playback issues that some users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version of 12.1.0.77 - including problems with Bluetooth speakers where either sound is degraded or completely absent. The alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer. The "for older video cards" label appears to be something of a misnomer as some people have reported that this corrects problems found on current / high-spec systems.
Some users have reported that after installing this alternative version it is necessary to adjust the "Play audio using" selection (normally to "Direct Sound" rather than "Windows Audio Session", though this may vary based on your audio hardware/drivers) in Edit > Preferences > Playback to restore glitch-free audio - one part of the reported symptoms is that the "Direct Sound" choice isn't available, usually in Windows 8. It may also be necessary to ensure that your Bluetooth speakers are active and selected as the default audio device before you run iTunes.
If this doesn't address the issue, you may want to think about reverting to iTunes 12.0 - see Turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for steps needed to completely remove all installed iTunes components, and for links to the 12.0 installers.

ITunes ONLY plays through internal speakers, system plays through line out

I have my system setup to play through my stereo. I launched iTunes today and it gave me the "accept terms & conditions" as if I had just downloaded a new upgrade (I didn't - have been running 7.4.2 perfectly since Sep 10 2007). I agreed, iTunes starts up ok with library intact. BUT; When I press play, the sound started playing through my skype phone! I plug out the skype phone and it plays through the internal speakers.
I checked sys prefs and it's ticked for line out, and, surely, when I press the volume button it adjusts through the stereo speakers (as does everything else except iTunes now).
I tried playing with the skype phone settings but they were all fine.
Does anyone know what's happening here?
edit: strange - I quit iTunes and it asks me "keep new settings or old settings". I keep old, restart iTunes and it plays through the speakers again. There are no settings in iTunes to change output as far as I can see. I thought I'd leave this post in case anyone else comes across this. odd, but sorted ?

I would try in oreder:
- Resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restoring the iPod via iTunes. First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

So i got my iphone 6 and works fine with the bluetooth on my lexus until i plug in the charger. When i do so the music you can't hear the music. When i have it unplugged the music plays fine through the speakers.

GB 10.0.2: No sound from studio monitors (speakers)

Not getting any sound through external speakers:
- settings in GB prefs. correct
- interface: Duet 2 (2 input lines)
- not sure how if I set "input" correctly (Smart Controls → Inspector → Input (I always set to 'mono') → Monitor 'on')
- Mr. H. Time suggested: possible that "the track was set to channel 1 (mono) and you were sending a signal on channel 2."

Help setting up ATV2 to listen itunes through home theather, not TV

Hi. I bought an Apple TV (2nd gen) and want to listen to itunes through the home theater (Samsung Blu Ray, 5000 series), not through the TV speakers. I have connected my ATV2 via HDMI to the TV, but I can see there is an optical output. The Samsung home theater has already taken the HDMI entry (used by the TV) and has only one, and also the optical audio entry. So, the question is:
Can I listen itunes through my home theater vs. TV speakers? how please?

Hi Winston. Ok, I took a look and tried different things:
I have a Samsung Blu ray 5000 series with only one HDMI port and only
one optical cable entry. I have tried 2 set ups and here are the
results:
1) Set up 1 - connections:
APTV2 ---(HDMI)--->TV
HomeTheater ---(Optical cable)--->DVR box --- (HDMI) --->TV
HomeTheater ---(HDMI)--->TV
This gives me music from the APTV2 through the TV speakers, not the home
theater and hte TV through the home theather.
2) Set up 2 - connections:
APTV2 ---(OpticalCable)--->HomeTheater
APTV2---(HDMI)--->TV
HomeTheater ---(HDMI)--->TV
DVR box --- (HDMI) --->TV
This gives me music from the APTV2 through the home theater, but the TV
sounds through the TV speakers.
What I want is to have both, the TV and the APTV2 through the home
theater.
can you help???

I had the same thing recently when trying to play a video held in my itunes movies folder on my Macbook pro, through the Apple tv airlink to watch on my TV. I could hear the sound play back fine, but there was no picture/video.
It then dawned on me that the 'Apple tv' box can only show 720p resolution, and I was trying to play back a full hd (1080) video. I converted my footage to 720 (or apple tv version), and it now streams and plays perfectly from macbook to AppleTV.
