Itunes to sony bravia via hard wired connection

I have my pc connected to my sony bravia (hard wired) I want to see my itunes library - any ideas?

Try loading a utility into your laptop or notebook to do a wireless survey. Your new area may have multitudes of wireless going on. You can also check the signal level at the TV location.
Then try and set everything manually.. use a fixed channel (the least used one from your survey) for 2.4ghz and start with no security.. briefly as a test. If it still cannot connect set the speed down to a -b/g as it is far more compatible and see if that works.
Try a different ssid/wireless name. Sometimes a different name will force a new setup and get things working. Also you can check the log and see if there are any error messages in relation to the connection.

  • I recovered my back up via a wired connection. now Time Machine does not recognise older back ups wirelessly and wants to do a first back up

I recovered a back up from my time machine via a wired connection after getting the 'white screen of death'. Now Time Machine does not recognise any back ups on the time machine when connected wirelessly and wants to do a first back up of the whole machine. How do I get my mac to recognise these older back ups? It connects to the wifi network the time machine creates fine, with the same name and password.

    I recommend the following.
    1. Reset the TC to factory.
Universal Factory Reset.. any model TC or AE.
Unplug your TC/AE from power or turn off at the power point.
Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. (this is often difficult without a 2nd person or a 3rd arm).
Release it when the status light flashes rapidly. If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have missed it and try again.
    Note..
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations of the router.
No files are deleted on the hard disk in a TC.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
    2. Rename the TC to SMB standard.
That means short names.. 2-20 characters but less than 10 is excellent. eg TCGenx (use number for x that is actual generation of the TC)
    No spaces.
    Pure alphanumeric. No apostrophe.
    3. Ensure IPv6 is set to link-local..
Do the same thing for ethernet if that is used.
    4. Manually mount the TC disk in Finder.
Use Go in the top menu.. connect to server.
    Type in
AFP://TCname.local (where TCname is your new short name for the TC and local is default domain .. it helps using the domain I found).
You will then find the computer either can or cannot find the network resource.. if it fails something else is wrong with the actual network and you will need to fix that.
It will request the password if it is found.. password is public by default unless you changed it.. type in the password and check to keep it in your keychain.
    5. Delete current TM setup and redo it with the newly named TC.
    See A4 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
If your backups cannot be found, try B6 again, now that you actually know that the disk has been properly discovered.

  • HP Pavilion Entertainment PC: WiFi works, however, hard wired connection does not work.

Internet via WiFi works, however, hard wired connection does not work.
My software indicates my hardware is working properly.
However, if I connect another computer to the cable I am using, it connects to the internet without a problem.
And, if I connect my comupter to another cable that works with another computer, my computer still does not connect to the internet.
    HP Pavilion dv9700 Notebook PC

Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2

It could be that the touch pad is broken on the inside and the contact area for the one button is either broken, blocked with an object or the cable going to the mother board is not inserted correctly into the mother board connector. I think in any case the case will have to come off and someone look for physical/connection problems.  It doesn't sound like a software problem but there is always a chance.

  • Connecting my macbook pro 13" to Sony bravia via mini Displayport to HDMI

    Hi,
yesterday I bought a new LCD TV Sony Bravia KDL-32EX600 (Full-HD LED) that has 4 x HDMI inputs.
I also bought a mini Displayport to HDMI and HDMI to HDMI cable.
When I connect it to my computer, the screen goes blue for a second and it doesn't recognise any additional displays. There's also no video or sound in the TV, on the right HDMI channel. (I've tried every HDMI input and every channel)
I've tested the TV with another laptop that has straight HDMI output from the gfx card and it works perfectly.
I have up-to-date MacOS and I also upgraded my TV's firmware to the latest.
I thought that maybe the miniDisplayport to HDMI connector is broken but why does the computer try to do something when I turn on the correct channel on the TV?
    I'm out of ideas..

    Hi madhenry,
I know it's a month on from your post, but I thought I'd add that I'm having exactly the same problem. I'm trying to connect my new MacBook Pro (15" core i7) to my Sony Bravia KDL-40EX600 using a mini displayport to HDMI adapter. When I plug the cable in, the MBP screen goes blue for one second then goes back to normal, but the system just doesn't detect the external display.
I've tried the MBP on other monitors and it works fine, so there is nothing wrong with the adapter or cable.
I've also tried plugging two other Macs into the TV (a 2008 15" MacBook Pro and a 2008 MacBook) and the TV works great with both of them.
So, it seems there's something specific to the new MacBook Pros that makes them incompatible with the Sony EX600 TVs.
I just talked to AppleCare about it and after trying a few things (resetting the PRAM, etc.) I was simply told that there's nothing wrong at all with the Mac and that this is simply a "compatibility" issue that I have to put up with. So, it looks like we're out of luck until (hopefully) a new Mac OS update fixes the issue.

  • Connecting MacBook to Sony Bravia via DVI-HDMI!

Hi I am having major issues with my Macbook connecting to my Sony Bravia KDL-32V4000 I now have 2 different DVI-HDMI leads as well as the Apple Mini-DVI-DVI and still have absolutely no luck.
The Macbook is picking up the Television absolutely no bother at all but there is just nothing at all coming up on the Television its self it doesn't even recognise that I have the computer in the HDMI slot nothing at all just blank!
Any help would be greatly appreciated as it will save me buying more and more cables if this fails to work will have to go with the DVI-VGA I guess would rather fix this though!
    Thanks!

I bought a mini-DVI to HDMI and an HDMI to HDMI cable. Once I went into settings for the display, I found that the TV was acting as a second monitor and that it was off to the right of the macbooks own screen. Thus if i moved the mouse to the right it could control the second monitor. You are able to move the screens so that they have the same data on each or use them as two screen with different info on each. Each screen is clearly visible in Spaces and it works a treat.
It is also possible to use the TV as the only screen. The way to do this is to connect up and close the lid on the mac. Once the light on the front starts blinking you can wake it up by using your mighty mouse or external keyboard. once awake, assuming you have chosen the correct HDMI connection from the TV the TV will act as the only monitor at full resolution.
The problem I have, is that I have not been able to get the sound to work. I have used the earphone socket and connected that to external speakers as I cannot seem to get the analogue signal on the TV on anything but an AV channel (not an HDMI channel). Thus the sound works on one channel and the image on another. My TV is a Sony KDL40w5710 - thus if anyone know the solution to getting the sound running through an HDMI channel on my TV it would be appreciated if you could contribute.
    Cheers

  • Access Airport extreme disk on Hard Wired Connection

Question how do you access the USB hard disk on Airport extreme via a Mac on a hard wired ethernet connection?
I have a Mac in a room outside WLAN coverage and apart from Air Port Disk utility I don't know if this is possible.
    Thanks,
    Garry

Garry, Welcome to the discussion area!
The same process as when you access the drive wirelessly.
If you are connected to the WAN port on the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS), you must configure the AEBS to operate in bridge mode.

  • What is the best way to manage itunes content using an external hard drive connected to airport extreme?

Just a little history on what I've already tried. I have my itunes folder on my external hard drive with an alias linking to my macbook pro. My hard drive is networked from airport extreme. Streaming content is not a problem. Syncing my iphone is the problem. I just get the pinwheel and a message stating sync unsuccessful because itunes was unable to connect. It takes a very long time to change any settings in itunes for mu phone.I have 8g of ram so that shouldn't be a problem. Any help would be appricated.

The best solution would be two different types of backups, one local (in your own home) and one elsewhere. So, option 3 is the "best" solution.
I, personally, use Crashplan to backup all of my computers because it's much more convenient than an external hard drive.
With an external hard drive, you can either use Time Machine to create the historical/incremental backups OR you can create a bootable clone periodically using SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner.
I don't know of any way to make the machines mirror images of one another - as far as I know, the best you could do is transfer data from one to the other at time of purchase and then use something like DropBox to keep files in sync.

  • Photo Magico Slide Show on my Sony Bravia via MBP

    Hello,
before you all get upset: I have searched the forum already but I couldn't find the correct answer. I would like to connect my MBP to my 40 inch Sony Bravia to watch photo slide shows from Photo Magico.
Waht is the best connection not to loose any quality? I think whatever I will do it will never get to the TV as good as it is on my MBP. In other words: The use of HDMI connection is not really necessary?
    Thanks

What you have is an extended desktop.  If you move the mouse cursor off the edge of the MBP's screen you will see it appear on the TV.  Similarly you can drag windows from the MBP's screen to the TV.  At present the MBP's screen is the primary display and shows the menu bar and dock, and the TV is the secondary display.  To change this go into System Preferences -> Displays -> Arrangement.  You will see an image of two screens, a smaller one representing the MBP's display and a larger one representing the external display.  At the top of the smaller screen in the image is a bar, this represents the menu bar at the top of the screen.  Drag it from the smaller screen to the larger screen.  The external display will become the primary display and the menu bar and dock will appear there and any new windows or applications that you open subsequently will appear there too.
davscanlon's suggestion to use mirroring will work, but you won't be using the native resolution of the TV which could result in fuzziness or bluriness of the image on the TV.

  • How to connect a Sony Bravia TV to the internet through your Airport network

Since it took me a lot of time to figure out how to connect my Sony Bravia TV to the internet through my Airport network, I better share how to do it. Hopefully saving others a lot of time.
My 32EX600 Sony Bravia TV is Ethernet connected to my Mac Mini, which is part of my Airport network, together with another Mac, an Airport Extreme Base Station and an ADSL modem/router. Moreover, the Mac Mini is connected to the TV by HDMI.
Whatever I tried in the TV’s Wired Network Set-up (Auto, or Manual with manual IP, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS IPs), I couldn’t get it right. Cable Connection and Local Access were mostly OK, Internet Access always Failed.
The solution lies in the Sharing panel of the System Preferences of the Mac Mini. In the Internet Sharing item of that panel, you should choose to “share your internet connection from WiFi to computers (the TV in this case) using Ethernet“, and NOT (as I had chosen before and seemed so obvious) “share your internet connection from Airport to computers using Ethernet“. After that change, the Bravia Network Set-up, using the Wired and Auto options, flawlessly connected to the internet. No expensive (Sony) WiFi USB dongle needed.

I have now had a detailed reply from Sony Europe and the way to do this is to:
    1.       Press Home on the TV Setup
    2.       Use the right and left arrow to select Setting.
    3.       Use the up and down to select Network, press Enter.
    4.       Select Network Setup.
    5.       Select Wireless setup.
    6.       Select Scan
    7.       Select your network
    8.       A new screen will appear asking for entering the security key.
    9.       Enter your WPA2 key.
    10.   Select Enter.
    11.   It will take you back to the same screen asking for entering the
    security key.
    12.   Press the right arrow.
    13.   Select Auto.
    14.   Press the right arrow.
    15.   Select Save and connect.
These instructions are not the same as shown on the TV but they worked fine for me so they may help others with a similar problem.

  • How can i get an xbox 360 to connect to my time capsule via WIRED connection?

I have a Time Capsule and i need to connect my xbox 360 to it because my stepdad has the network in this house set up crazily. He gets mad if i ask him to change anything because it is how he wants it and it works with EVERYTHING ELSE. I do not have a wireless adapter so i need to connect the xbox to my time capsule via a wired connection
    Thanks =]

Here is what I would look into.
Use iCloud and photo stream to upload pictures taken with the iPad.
Find a remote log in utility, or web based app to then remote to your computer.
Download the files from photo stream to your time capsule.
As far as recommending a remote log in utility. I have not experience in that area and would need to do research my self.

  • Can't BBC iPlayer to work on Sony Bravia TV

I have BT Infinity and use a Home Hub3.
I usually access the internet via (a) wired connection to Apple iMac running OS 10.6.8 and (b) by WiFi to a 4th Generation iPod Touch. These work without a problem - and I have no difficulty accessing BBC iPlayer.
I have recently set up a wired internet connection for my Sony Bravia TV (type KDL 32EX403 with latest software PKG4.117EUL-0108) using mains wire connection through devolo dLAN 500 WiFi homeplugs.
I can access the most of the internet services on the TV - the one exception is BBC iPlayer - when every time I try and connect I get the message 'A network error has occured' - and when I hit the Retry button the same mesage comes up.
Anyone got any idea how to fix this?
    Cheers
    Tim

Well, that's about a tenner from e.g. Cable Universe. It's just to test it you know, not permanent.
Can you change the DNS settings on the TV to use Google 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 ?

  • Wired Connection Set Up

Just bought an Apple TV and want to set it up via a wired connection.  I have my PC connected directly to my modem so do I have to also connect my ATV directly to my modem OR can I connect it to my PC. Thanks in advance guys, any help with this will be very much appreciated

You'd connect it to the modem via ethernet (or wifi).
If your PC had a spare ethernet port you could connect but would end up having to configure things like internet sharing, and the PC woudl need to be always on for internet access on AppleTV.
It's designed to run standalone with internet content or to play local media from iTunes when PC running.

  • ITunes song dowload error via wifi

I have an Iphone and Ipad both connected to a wap in my office. When I try and download via wifi from the apple store I get a download error. The song starts to download and stops.
I can download to itunes via the wired connection to my pc over adsl but not over wifi. When I log into a different wap ie at home, the songs download with no issues.
There must be something in the settings of the WAP that is causing this but I can't trace what is causing this. Apps are ok
I have run the diagnostics in Itunes and all is fine there. This has been an issue over various versions of itunes.
    Any suggestions?

iTunes Store loads partially or returns "Error 306" or "Error 10054"
Proxies, parental control settings and software, security or filtering software, or a bad iTunes Store cache can cause this.
To address proxies, Remove Internet Options proxy settings ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1490 ) and connect to the Internet without a proxy.
    To reset iTunes Store cache:
In iTunes, choose iTunes > Preferences (Mac) or Edit > Preferences (PC).
    Click the Advanced tab.
    Click the "Reset cache" button.
Click OK and see if the issue is resolved.
    Adjust Parental Controls in iTunes:
    Open iTunes.
    Access iTunes preferences:
On a Mac: From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences.
On a Windows PC: From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
    Click the Parental Controls tab.
    Remove restrictions on Parental Controls.
For more information on parental controls or content filtering software, see iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store.
