Itunes transferring music to other computer?

OK.
I have a PC running Vista, and have an Itunes library(a gig or so)and my dad has a Mac. How can I transfer my library to his computer, without using 4 USB sticks?
Please help me ASAP,
SHIV

The iPod Touch _does not_ support disk use. Other iPods (nano, classic) do, so you could use one of those. Or, burn a DVD. Or, get a bigger USB stick (I have some 4 GB ones; 2 GB sticks are ~£15).

    Hey lightc,
If you are having an issue with iTunes not recognizing your iPad and iPod on your Windows computer, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

  • Transferring music from other programs to itunes

how do you transfer music from windows media player to itunes??

    heya!
I believe there that WMP files are compatible with itunes. i know that when i first loaded itunes on to my laptop, it asked if i wanted it to search for all the music on my computer. i clicked yes and it found all of my WMP files and converted them into AAC format.
also, you can click and drag your WMP files into itunes and it should automatically change their format.
    hope this helps

  • Transfering music to other computers

I was wondering how i could transfer my music to different computers with my ipod without having to delete all of my songs on the ipod in order to transfer them?

Uh, there's lots and lots and lots of ways to do it now, even more than before.

In all honesty these documents are truly bewildering and can leave you in a hopeless jumble if you are trying to do is move a library and use it on a different drive.  -- if you really want to do something like this ask us and we can provide simpler instructions.

  • Transferring music from old computer using ipod

I recently transferred music from my old computer to my new computer using my ipod by following the directions in apple support (article 300173.) I already had music in itunes on my new computer when I added the music from my old computer. Now all the music that I had loaded prior to the transfer comes up with a message "original file could not be found." Have I lost this music for good?
    MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.9)
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

If you dragged the file called 'iTunes' in to the music folder in the finder and it asked 'do you wish to overite' then it has probably overwritten the folder tha t already existed
    (with the new music in).
If you haven't emptied you trash it might be in there, but don't click retore the trash just drag the folder onto the desktop.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT1848 Having trouble transferring music to my computer.

I tried to click on the "transfer music from my iPhone" button but the music will not be transfered to my computer. For a second it worked with the Genius, I thought, but then when I disconnected my phone, the songs were no longer in the library. Is this because I purchased the songs on my iTunes phone app? The computer is authorized so that's not it. Can someone help?

This user tip should be helpful. It refers to the iPhone, but it's equally valid for iPods as well…

  • HT4527 Transfering music from old computer to new computer

I followed the directions using my ipod as a hard drive to copy the itunes folder from my old computer and transfered it to My Music on the new computer.  The folder is there with all the songs but when I open itunes, the music isn't there.  What am I doing wrong.

Have you told your computer's iTunes via File > Add To Library that they are there ?

  • Transferring music from old computer to new

I lost all of my music while trying to sync my Ipod touch to my new computer. However, I still have my Itunes library on my old computer, which is on its last leg. This includes many songs copied from CD's, which would take hours to duplicate. Is there any way of copying the Itunes library other than with a USB device as the USB ports don't seem to be working? It doesn't seem to be recognizing the ethernet cable either, so CD?

    - You can burn to CD and then import from that CD on the new computer.
    - You could also take the HD out of the computer and place it in an external enclosure that has a USB connection and then connect to the your computer and import.

  • My ipods syncing but not transfering music off my computer to my ipod?

Right iv recently got a new cpmputer! Iv signed in on this itunes but everytime it syncs it wont put my neew music onto my ipod, iv tried to do it loads! do i restore it or is there any other help you can give me? Ohh and theres a space in my captivity that says 'other' and its yellow! dunno how to get rid of it! HELP ME PLEASE!

    - You can only sync an iPod with one iTunes library. Your new computer is a different iTunes library.
    - Assuming that all yur media (apps, music etc) are in the iTunes library of the computer connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up. Then restore the iPod from that backup.

  • Transferring music to new computer

Hello, I'll try to keep this brief, sorry, I'm new to these forums too.
I am buying a new computer with a PCI-E setup because I currently run a lowly AGP and I am starting fresh, new hard drives, new everything.
How can I transfer all my music from my iTunes library on my current computer to my new computer?
Should I authorize my new computer and de-authorize my current computer?
I would like to keep my entire library of music and transfer it.
Any suggestions? I love my music but do not want to lose it all just because I am getting a new computer....

The cd will appear inside of iTunes, and you can import the songs to your library from there. Otherwise, you can open the cd in explorer, and simply drag the music folders into the iTunes program. Everything should import fine.
When you're creating the data disc playlist in iTunes, it should tell you at the bottom of the playlist how many mbs the files are taking up. However, I'd simply put ALL your music into one playlist, and when burning iTunes will inform you that it will take multiple discs to complete the session. Agree to this and after it's done burning files to one disc, you simply insert another. And so on, depending on how much music you have.

  • Transfering Music from old computer to new MBP laptop HELP!

I nees to transfer ALL of my iTunes music to my new MBP, can I just put all of my music onto a flash drive and then deauthorize that computer, then put songs from flashdrive on the MBP and authorize that computer? If I do this will my music still be organized like it was on my ild PC? Like album name, artist, title, etc? Answer ASAP please and thanks in advance!

Okay. What do you want from this process? Do you want iTunes to appear exactly as it did on your old computer?  The way I have described several times before tells you how to do this.  Copy the WHOLE ITUNES FOLDER from your Finder (you do not say what source computer) or Windows browser or whatever, to the flash drive.  Drag it from the flash drive to your new computer and replace the iTunes folder on the new computer (I presume you have nothing in it now).  Start iTunes and everything will appear identical to your old computer.  Playlists, artwork, everything.  Three major steps. Drag, (move flash drive to other computer), drag, open iTunes.
The video tells you in a somewhat long-winded (and in my opinion not necessarily best) way to end up copying just your media files to a flash drive.  It then adds them all back into iTunes where if all works well iTunes will end up processing them as though it has never seen them before. If that's what you want, fine, because that's what it does.  If the tags are correct on the files you will see the names, etc., but with the qualifiers I mentioned before.  You say you want them organized like they were on the old computer.  For most people this means ratings and playcounts and playlists.  That is not what you will get if you drag just media from drive to drive via the flash drive.  You will only accomplish that using the whole folder method I have described.  If you do not want your old playlists well, I guess you can do the video method, but even then my method is easier and you can always delete unwanted playlists.
The video method is essentially the same process if the source computer is a Mac, again if your goals is to start over with a fresh library but your old media files.

  • Transfering music from my computer in NY to my computer in Florida

Is there any way to transfer music from my computer in NY to my computer in Florida?

    Here's 2 ideas:
    1) Buy an external hard drive and move all the NY files to it, and ship/take the exHD Florida
If you want to have the same library and everything, consolidate it onto the exHD using these directions and don't forget to take the iTUnes LIbrary.ITL file as well.
    2) Use an online file storage service. Just google +online music storage+ and start researching hte one that seems to fit your needs & budget.
Upload the NY files to the service , and download the files in Florida.
If your library is large, idea 1 takes the least amount of time. I gave up on the online storage thing....my library is too big. It was taking WEEKS to upload all the songs.

  • Transferring music(from friends computer) from ipod to computer

I forgot to backup my music before my computer crashed. Can I copy the music that's on my ipod onto my computer?
    HELF

    Hey there,
There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes. There is a very direct method, which I personally prefer, but there are also numerous third party applications, which will help you accomplish the task as well. The link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method as well as a few third party applications if you choose to go that route instead.
It would also be a good idea to remember to authorize your computer in iTunes.

  • Tags are not transferring over to other computer using same login

I use two computers to access the same email account on Thunderbird. I have the same tags set up on both. For over a year now I have been able to tag an email on one computer and it will appear tagged on the other computer as well. However, just recently this has stopped happening. The tags I have applied on one computer no longer show up on the other computer. Any ideas on how to fix it?

If you create a new folder with one message, then tag it, does the tag appear on the other computer? Since tags are stored in the folder index files, the non-working folders may have corrupted indexes (which might be fixed by right-clicking the folder, Properties, Repair Folder). Backup first in case the Repair function misbehaves.

  • Transferring iTunes downloaded music to another computer

Can someone please help?? My question is I have downloaded (purchased) iTunes music on my cpu at work (through my itunes account) and I can't get any of it on my pc at home. How can I get the music from my pc at work to my home computer? Anyone with any help would be greatly appreciated.

the way i did it was to use a usb flash drive, luckily i had a 256mb one. it's tricky tho. or u can burn to mp3 cds and do it quickly that way. apparently you can do it w/ a cord, but it is very hard to find a person in a store like best buy/circuit city that can actually help you there, they'll sort of tell you the cord to use but don't know how it really works. if u have NO purchased music it's really easy, use a flash drive, if u don't have one, u should so just borrow/buy one. if u have purchased music it MIGHT work by transferring the songs and then authorizing that new computer, so hopefully some of this was helpful.
