ITunes tries to start up and then "unexpectedly quits" before it opens
This just started happening out of the blue. I tried to open iTunes and it looks like it's starting up and then tells me it has unexpectedly quit and I get the following report:

Mail and AddressBook "unexpectedly quit" before seeing them
At first the mail application (1.3.11) would open and the spinning beach ball would spin endlessly until force quit is used. The address book gets the: "the application Mail has unexpectedly quit" immediately as the mail application does now also.
When Safari is opened, Google is my home page and after a few letters are written in, the application freezes until force quit is used. This doesn't happen when google is used on Explorer.
I tried moving the Library and plist to the desktop and not luck in restart.
What's next?I found the problem with the Address book that made the Mail program crash also. I moved the "AddressBook.data" to the desktop from:
/Library/Application Support/AddressBook
and the AddressBook and Mail started operating!
A new "AddressBook.data" was created and I threw the old one away.
I lost the addresses and should have gone to the backup data but already started loading in addresses.
But all is well.

I bought an album from the store in iTunes, and it froze, every time i now open iTunes it works fine, untill i sign in to my account, at which point the 'wheel of doom' appears, and iTunes stops responding. However i can (and have) access my store account from my ipod touch, and have downloaded the material, but this has not cleared the downloads through for my laptop, and the same problem occurrs every time i sign in.
Any help would be much appreciated, i have checked my connection and firewall settings, and made sure that all the software is up to date too ???

Why 99% PE13 download, then "unexpectedly quits"?
Sincerely hope someone can help me with the following problem.
I purchased Photoshop Elements 13 in downloadable version and have been trying to install it on my 2014 MacBook Pro 15" Retina the entire day.
Basically, the Adobe Applications Manager downloads up to 99% and then "unexpectedly quits". All the time every time. I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times, used Adobe cleaner, etc.
Key messages in report may be the following:

I also tried to place the Elelments files in the Shared folder in /users/, so I could access them in my main Admin account. But as soon as I open them there, Adobe Applications Manager starts up again to do a fresh install, resulting in the same crash???!!!
so, how come I can install and open Elements in the newly created account and not in my usual admin account on the same MBPro?? -
I am trying to download iTunes on my new desktop computer (Windows 7, 64 bit). It starts installing, and then stops with the message- "The System Administrator has set policies to prevent this installation." This is a stand alone computer and I am the sole user. Please help.
This is a Microsoft Windows Issue.

I am unable to re-install itunes. The installer starts ok and then indicates that it can not access a network !! I have tried to uninstall but get the sme error message. I have used 3rd party software to uninstal but still have no joy. My pc is running Vista.

i tried updating my ipod, and then it turned off, and then just said connect to itunes, and when i did, it said i had to restore it. so, i restored it, and it did nothing and still said connect to itunes. help?

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I have some dts cd's that I want to import into itunes on a windows pc and then play back on my apple tv 3 (i think its 3, about 9 months old) to listen to through my onkyo amp via hdmi as dts, when I play back I just get white noise. I have seen lots of old posts which go on about converting files but am wondering wherher at the current time with the latest versions of itunes and apple tv whether this should by now be a virtual play out of the box solution.
I have tried connecting my atv to the amp by optical cable but that didnt produce anything better and am assuming that a hdmi cable should be able to reproduce everything an optical cable does.
Is this something I should be able to achieve without having to recode the files?
Tracks are imported to itunes as apple lossless, have tried setting the atv audio settings to auto and 16 bit, neither works yet I was told some time ago by an apple rep that the atv shoud be able to handle any type of audio as it just passes it to the amp to decode. I am not stupid but not that technical when it comes to audio and bitrates etc so any explaination would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any helpWilly, the procdedure you describe works perfectly for AppleTV G1. In fact, I frequently play DTS music discs ripped to my iTunes library as Apple Lossless (ALAC) and synched to the ATV. What happens is that, as far as iTunes and the ATV are concerned, a conventional stereo 16/44 audio file is being played; however my reciever detects the DTS data stream, and instead of outputting static, it decodes the 5.1 channels correctly. This process parallels the way DTS discs were designed to be played back: a conventional CD player is connceted, via digital out, to a DTS-aware reciever/pre-amp and the two channels of static are recognized as 6 channels of DTS-encoded audio.
However this process will only work if the player (CD, ATV, PC, etc.) sends a "bit-perfect" 16 bit/44.1 khz data stream to the decoding device. In the case of ATV G2 and G3, as has been discussed elsewhere, the unit resmaples all audio - including 16/44 PCM (Redbook CD) - to 16/48. While this is not a big deal for conventional audio CDs, MP3s, and AAC files, it mangles the fragile DTS datastream and renders it undecodable. The resulting static that you hear is just like the static you would hear if you played a DTS CD on a non-DTS capable system.
Sadly, I'm not aware of any easy way around this. You could use a program like Foobar (and the DTS plugin) to convert your DTS CDs to 6-ch .wav or .flac file. From there you could transcode the file to AC-3 and then mux it into a video container that ATV supports. You may need add a dummy video track, for iTunes/AppleTV to be ok with the file, though I'm not sure. This may be a lot of work.
Sorry for the bad news. I wish that the iTunes/ATV ecosystem had better multi-channel audio support.

Try using the Software Update on your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Software Update. One thing to keep in mind if you are trying it on the computer is to make sure that you are not pressing any keys down when checking for updates as that may bring up a pop up window to find the update file.

I clicked the button in my setting thatz is saying "software update iOS 6.1.2. It turned off and now My iPad 2 is stuck on a black screen that has the iTunes symbol and a charger that I'm guessing means "plug into iTunes". I did so and then waited four hours to download something. And now it is saying that its going to update my iPad but it isn't working. I tried to "update" twice. why do apps not sync -- it says computer not authorized. I tried unauthorizing my computer and then reauthorizing and I tried deleting the sc file. It still says the app is not authorized on this computer and I'm unable to sync this app that I previously had downloaded. Any help pls.
Did you download the app via that same iTunes account id ? Have you tried re-downloading it directly on your iPad (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519) ?
