Itunes trys to connect to my iphone when the iphone is not connected to the pc
At first I thought it was beause I didn't "eject" the iphone from itunes before disconnecting from my USB cord so I reconnected the iphone and ejected the iphone from within itunes. Once my iphone disappeared from the list of devices I disconnected my iphone. However, everytime I open itunes, itunes trys to connect to my iphone when it is not connected via the USB. I get an error message saying itunes could not connect to my iphone - Duh!
Any help would be appreciated!
A backup of a device with a newer version of iOS cannot be retored to a device with an older version. The solution is to connect to itunes and update the new device's iOS, then perform a restore.

During sync, new contacts on my iphone are deleted. I'll typically add any new contacts I get directly to my iphone, simply because I don't have my mac on me at all times. However, unless I specifically add the contact to my mac address book, it will be deleted from my iphone contacts upon sync. The option in iTunes to replace contacts on my iphone is not selected. Is there a way to merge info on sync instead of replace?
Thank you for your reply. I realy have nothing else to sync - no music. Emails do work so its just my contacts I am concerned about. I'm kinda new at this but have a working understanding of the system.
I have an icloud account but the Geek Squad went there and tried but could not export contacts. I truly am not that good re icloud. They worked exclusively with my itunes, re-downloading, etc - all of the stuff in their book.
I have not tried a complete restore because I am not sure I am that good with the equipment but could. I did all of the stuff on the help page - sync reset, forced one-way sync etc but the phone just does not seem to recognize the sync. I have not gone to an Apple store to have them have a look - that may be my next step to hook up to another itunes computer. It seems simple to me - it was working fine until maybe 3 months ago - probably when there was an update. Its telling to me that the phone does not tell me there is a sync in process while itunes is saying there is - its just not biting between the 2.
I appreciate any hep - and I said, I not stupidi about these things but have kind of reached as far as I am comfortable with fear of doing something really wrong. -

Can yo redownlod them directly to the iPod by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Do they show up in the Purchased list?
Do you have any Restrictions (Settings>General>Restrictions) set that would prevent syncing/loading those songs? -
I just got message from AT&T that iPhone 4 is unlock and I need to restore my iphone for unlock but I getting message as " Your iPhone can not be updated or restore . This device is not eligible for requested build" Any help and support is greatly appreciated.

I've completed those steps multiple times but I still have yet to see the message saying it's unlocked. Anyone have any idea why this isn't working for me? You need to restore the phone (that is, iOS), not the backup. Those instructions have always been ambiguous. After iOS restores you should get the unlocked message, and you can then restore the backup (it should prompt you to). And you need to wait "long enough" after you got the instructions; it can take several days. -

thanks for this... I bought iphone 4 unlocked in USA in Dec 2012--being told by the salesperson IN the Apple store that there were Apple Stores in Quito & Cuenca. I'm in Cuenca now--NO STORE, & now that I need to activate--have also been told "not every cellular store CAN activate iphone!" I am reading about all these problems--yours is the first response that has a solution! Now going to set up with Claro... wish me luck! Any other advice you have on use in Ecuador--I'll be grateful :-)

When the option show music from the cloud is activated itunes overwrites the music tags from each song that was bought in the itunes stores, using the orignal tags from the store, this is very anoying

Everytime I try to watch a video, or when the computer makes noise, it shutters. pavillion g7-1263nr
I just got a new hp pavillion g7-1263nr notebook pc windows 7 64-bit, about 5 days ago and I noticed when i turned it on the first time and everytime since, the sound shutters. This happens also when I watch a video, or when the computer is alerting me of something. The shutters are sometimes not very noticeable, and sometimes they are louder.

When I synchronize my iPhone4S with iTunes 11.0.0.163, I get stuck at this screen:

Ok. I literally went through all of those steps, and then nothing on there worked.
But.
I just fixed it.
Here's how I did it.
I went into the settings of the phone, erased EVERYTHING.
Plugged the phone back in, synced with nothing on it. Backed up, Worked.
Went to my old but latest backup from my iPhone4 before I bumped up to the 5.
I then restored from that backup, BUT. Didn't sync any of the apps, podcasts, or music.
Then by a process of elimination, I went one group at a time.
First I synced all my apps. Once all of them loaded, I hit the backup button. Worked fine.
Second, I synced all my podcasts. After, hit backup. Worked fine.
And last. My music. Synced all of it. Backup could not finish!
So I went through and tried to remember what was the last thing I added on there that could have added on there that could prevent it from working.
Oh. The first 3 Games of Thrones books you ripped from the library?
Once I deleted those. Synced fine.
I don't know exactly how the **** that was the thing that fixed it, but it did. I have the 32g model, and had around 12g of space free.
But it's fixed. So maybe a heads up to the people who might be experiencing the same problem. Try that out. Sync your categories one at a time, backup, and eliminate each one at a time.
I'd love to know if this helped anyone else.
