ITunes tunes wont install on win7 Ultimate 32bit. I have installed

I have installed and removed the software at least a dozen times. I have tried to install thru winRAR and get the same error message. The error message is about 100 characters long. The install stops, backs up, and then proceeds forward.  When trying to use iTunes after the install, another error message pops up saying that iTunes needs Apple Support Application, not found and to uninstall and reinstall AGAIN! I have removed the install, and cleaned the registery, 3x wiped the free space, and rebooted.

Yeah, you're pointing in the wrong direction when you blame the issue on your iPod. Reference the KB article mentioned above, http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302335 and then check your windows user settings in the Windows Control Panel and then ensure that you are an Administrator of the computer. If not, login as one and uninstall/reinstall.
If that fails, check to ensure that the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service is running by typing "services.msc" (without quotes) in the Run menu (Start/Run/services.msc).
Lastly, try running the iTunes installer file after you have disconnected from the internet (physically un-plug the network cable from your computer if you're on DSL/Cable/LAN) then disabled your anti-virus software.
If these steps work for you, please let us know here on the forums. If not, we'll still try, but remember, this is an Apple forum, so to expect a lot of Windows answers may be like going to your barber for advice about your overbite.
Hope this helps.

  • ITunes 7 WONT install for no valid reason!

I cannot install iTunes 7, it says 'iTunes cannot be installed on this computer because it requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or higher' ... ... which I am already on.
To add insult to injury, my iPod is now updated and now im stuck with iTunes 6 which no longer recognises my iPod. The only solution I can think of is to reset my iPod, which will also mean loosing ALL my data I have stored on there. I dont even mind staying with iTunes 6 as long as I dont have to loose all my files in the process.
Is there another way around this?

Have you recently updated to 10.3.9?
When I did that it seemed to take my mac a couple of restarts to get it to work properly.
Also, are you trying to upload Itunes from the Itunes site? I eventually did it by going to the updates section from my desktop, where it offered me the option of Itunes 7 and then it eventually seemed to work!

  • ITunes 10 wont install

    Hi,
itunes 10 won't install. It keeps giving me the error that "can't delete ipod service". I cancelled out and tried installing from from Tools>download only .
No luck. I had this problem in going from 8 to 9 and I had to delete everything according to apple support knowlegebase. Then it got insatlled.
I don't want to do in every update.
    Is Apple becoming like Microsoft?

I had the same problem installing iTunes 10 into Windows XP.
    I did two things:
    1) bring up Task Manager and kill iPodService
    2) I kept clicking "Don't Send" when prompted if I wanted to send an error report to Microsoft. The last dialog box that came up allowed me to click "Ignore". After that, the installation completed and iTunes 10 was installed and working. However. once you reboot your machine, the error returns about iPodService but iTunes continue to work.

    Repair your Apple software update.
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install
If you don't find ASU, go to Control Panel:
START/CONTROL PANEL/Add n Remove Programs/highlight ASU and click CHANGE then REPAIR,

I have also tried to install quicktime separately and nothing seems to work.
did you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall? if so, what did it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.
which QT installer did you download from the QT installer download page? was it called QuickTimeInstaller.exe, or iTunesSetup.exe? (the former is a standalone QT installer, and the latter is an itunes/QT installer bundle.)

So restore the phone.  I'm not sure I'm understanding what the issue is.

I have been on the phone with Apple ipod for 2 hours. The problem is not Apple it is Windows and they can not fix it. So either your stuck with this piece of crap or you can return it and get a MP3 player, because Cory the "higher up guy" in Apple says not his problem.

  • Help!! iTunes 7 wont install

I recently bought an ipod and when trying to download and install the newest version of itunes it fails. Specifically when I download itunes, it only downloads 26-27mb of the 36mb that it says there is. Then when I try to open the file to install it, it says that it is not a valid win32 file.I then tried extracting the files through winrar which worked and then when I tried installing the itunes program it starts to go then when I get to the final step it says failed because of a quicktime error. Can anyone help me, ill try and download it again so that I can see what the error says exactly. Thanks

    Hi philly7,
That error message has been covered in an article in Apple's knowledge base. See if it helps with your issue:
iTunes: Windows reports that iTunesSetup.exe is not a "valid Win32 application"

  • Satellite A660 Cant get official updates and iTunes-64 wont install

    Hi,
I've had my laptop for about 3 weeks now and have some problems that maybe someone here can help with :)
It is a Toshiba Satellite A660 Windows 7 64 bit, with all the toshiba support options allowed - tempro, bulleting board health check etc.
    Problem 1:
The toshiba bulleting board asked me to update a load of stuff - Bios, Display Drivers, Wireless drivers etc.
The only update that (appeared to...it didnt freeze at least ) worked was the broadcom wireless driver update.
So, for the display update, I download the file, extract it, and nothing happens - I have tried running the tinstallwb.exe myself -
I get prompted if I want the program to modify the hard drive, I say yes..and thats the last I hear of it..been trying for hours to get this to work, but i look at a desktop with no activity. In the archive folder, if I try and run the setup.exe (i.e. the nvidia part) it says that no valid nvidia hardware has been detected.
    Problem 2:
I tried the bios update, that the bulletin board asked me to install...it failed, just didnt want to install.
    Problem 3:
I spend most of the time powering down the laptop, as it freezes on the shutdown screen...
    Problem 4:
Prob not a toshiba issue - but I cannot install Quicktime or iTunes...the installer just freezes (It doesnt go into not responing though) - I left th elaptop runningn for about 4 hours yesterday, trying to install itunes 64 bit until I had to kill the task (and power down, as shutdown doesnt work)
Any ideas, I've given up on trying to update the updates that the toshiba Bulleting board is telling me to update?
I've tried the obvious update everything I can, but the toshiba updates dont update :(
Other software installed: MS Office and Outlook, firefox.
    Thanks for any help,
    Andy

    Hi
    1) You can download all the drivers directly from the Toshiba European driver page.
If you really need an update, then you should download the file, should save it on the HDD, should unzip the package and should either execute the setup.exe or should update the driver from the device manager.
    2) Here is a HowTo doc about BIOS update:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=60
If this is not possible, then your Windows OS might be muddled up and maybe you should recover the notebook before running a BIOS update.
    3) As suggested above; all these issues might be related to the corrupted OS and maybe you need to reinstall the OS to get it working again.
    4) see point 3
