Sorry if this is in the wrong category-- I'm new and I couldnt find anywhere else to put it. Is it possible to convert videos/tv shows that you buy from iTunes to a format that you can download to a blank readable DVD? Also, what is an AAC?

Welcome to Apple Discussions "technically challenged", and "lockthedoor".
You could put your videos/tv shows on a DVD by possibly backing up your iTunes library. Here are two Apple Support articles about this, see if this helps:

I'm not sure if you can use that format for a DVD player, for example.

I have about 50GB or so of stuff I have purchased from Itunes and have not back it up yet. I looked into using DVD's and NAS devices, but I think I can also just get a new 80GB Ipod and use it as both a portable device and my main back up for my purchased stuff. Other files, like word and excel I back up using my .MAC I-disk, but the music and video files required much more space and bandwidth, so I have to back up localy.
If I have to do a restore, will I be able to restore off of an IPOD?

if you use the ipod in disk mode then, yes, you could use it to backup/restore files
but i'd never recommend using an ipod for this
great music player, but not something to rely on to keep your data safe
if you want a backup disk, get a dedicated external hard drive, it'll be way cheaper and a lot more reliable

NONE of my purchased TV Shows and Videos play anymore!

All of my purchased TV Shows and Videos that used to be fine no longer play... They come up as gray with no sound. Any ideas?

HI, I have the same problem, so you said you will need to update your quicktime...I have the most recent versions of iTunes and Quicktime, and have tried everything. Here is another post I made about this:

After a day of trying, both iTunes and my Apple TV are telling me that the episodes of Scooby Doo I purchased are incompatible due to QuickTime. I still don't understand how I purchased something from iTunes that doesn't work with iTunes.
the exact error I receive when I try to play an episode is the following:
"This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes."

ITunes TV Shows and Movies (UK)

Why am I not seeing TV shows and Movies in the UK store yet? I think it would be brilliant as TV is full of crap here, I'd be able to watch what I want, when I want, all in one place.
I watched the latest webcast "It's Showtime : Apple Special Event" held in San Fransisco, brilliant revision news about media for apples - however this sort of thing builds up my hopes only to dash me down as I live in the UK. Some things aren't here yet.
An idea about movie and TV show downloads is that i need subtitles which is something I look for when purchasing movies in an entertainment store. something which has no mention in any of the iTunes stores. Maybe quicktime should have this capability built in (I'm not sure if it has already!), this way I would be very compelled to make iTunes store purchases if movies and TV shows appear here in the UK.
Does anybody know anything about this or have any thoughts??

According to the keynote and followup coverage, Apple hope to provide Movies/Videos in international markets (including obviously the UK) by the end of 2007. From what I can gather this means something like September/October.
It has also been revealed recently that apart from Japan, Asia as a whole will not get getting iTunes Movies. However as far as I am aware the only Asian country with a store listed is still Japan in any case.
I already find iTunes tracks too expensive on the store (compared to a full CD quality physical CD on Amazon), so I don't expect to buy movies/videos even when they are available on the UK store. However what is of interest is what the BBC are going to do. In theory they have to provide programs free to UK citizens (since we have already paid via the TV license). This would be technically possible by the BBC pricing them at £0.00 on the UK store and $1.99 on the US (for example).
The current mechanism the BBC uses is iMP which uses Windows Media Player (for Windows) and therefore does not support Macs.
Hmmm, just noticed that Amazon's Unbox does list Dr. Who (from the BBC) at $1.99 per episode (not per story), however as Amazon's Unbox is not available in the UK (yet) we still don't know what policy the BBC are going to adopt.
Note to Americans: While 'modern' Dr. Who stories are mainly single episodes in length (with a few double length ones), older stories were up to 6 episodes long, and some of the William Hartnell ones were 7 episodes long and one was 12! See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Listof_Doctor_Whoserials

ITunes 7 songs and videos

So like, everyone else reading this right now, i Just got iTunes new version, exciting isn't it. Let's see. The color of the words is now black, instead of the blue. When a song is played it plays, but it sounds like a radio with really bad static. The files on the computer did not change to the new blue music note, maybe that has bothing to do with anything. Then the videos flash a weird plaid green and then go black everytime one is started, paused, resized, etc. I Also seem to be missing 3/4 of my podcasts from the video section. I am afraid to attatch my iPod for fear of getting the same static, no videoy results, so we'll save that for later. I am currently on my 4th iTunes version 7. Here's soem random information. I just updated to itunes 7 yesterday.
Well let me introduce some of my settings in Itunes. I always manually transfer musics and videos. I just updated yesterday and I cannot add songs manually. I drag from the browser and drop on the music tab. Then, I tried ... tried... tried.... I cannot add the songs. It shows on the status bar that iTunes copied finish like usual. Then, when I go and find in my ipod, the song was not there. So, I got angry... wasted my times a lot. So, I wrongly went to enable the tick that automatically sync from the library. So, I know it's my fault that all of my songs were deleted.
I started to try again. Manually drag and drop. **... it shows the status bar correctly at the top of iTunes. Not even one songs go to my ipod. Then, I found out that it cannot copy to "Music" tab. You must drag and drop to your Ipod Icon. You cannot drop on "Music" Icon. I was disappointed that why it showed like that on the status bar ??????? Man... made people confused. If it doesn't show anything on the status bar... This won't happen to me. I thought my ipod has a problem. I didn't think that it was a new technique to use.

Another problem is artwork. Now I can manually drag and drop to my iTunes. Then, I found out another problem. ArtWork!!!! When you set a function which will automatically sync the songs from the library, then the ArtWork works fine. But when you use drag and drop function, you put all of you artworks and it will not show in your ipod. I have already tick that thing in Music tab. What's that called ? ?? umm... "Enable artwork in my ipod" yeah.... checked in the preference already. What the fuc**KK is going on !!!
Please... any suggestion??

Importing iTunes TV Shows and how they appear on the iPhone tab

I just moved some TV Shows purchased on iTunes from my local computer to a network drive and re-imported them back into iTunes using the file->Add Folder To Library menu.
After doing so, the TV shows tab under the iPhone has duplicate entries for each episode (one for the HD version the other for the SD version). I can only sync the SD versions to the iPhone and previously only the SD versions showed up on the iPhone tab. Although I want both the HD and SD versions in my library, I would like to get back to the iPhone tab showing only the SD syncable versions like it did before. Of course I can go into the iPhone tab and manually deselect the HD version but I should not have to. It ought to be straight forward to get the iPhone to so only the SD ones.
Does anyone know how to do this? I am using iTunes 9.02 and an Iphone 3GS.

It all depends on how your e-mail provider talks to the iPad. Some allow a lot of control, others not so much. My Yahoo works seamlessly between my Touch, iPad and computer. My hotmail, however, won't show up as 'read' on all devices, i have to open it on each one.
Some e-mails will allow you to tweak those settings and let your device alter what's on the server, others won't.
What e-mail program/provider are you dealing with?

IPod nano + tv shows and videos?

if you have a 2GB iPod nano, are you able to add tv shows and music videos to that or do you have to have a regular iPod?

The ONLY ipod that will play vidoe is the 5G and what there calling the 5.5G ipod.
Nanos and older ipods will not play any type of video

Why does my itunes tv show and movies freeze up and start back up when it didn't on old itunes?

This new itunes 10.7 *****. I downloaded "Son Of Anarchy" last 3 shows Starting frist week in Oct. They all freeze up . Stopping and starting jerking around and now it is affecting my movie download that I bought also. I have done several deleatings of this program and it has not helped. I have tried several fixs for this also all it did was crash my pc. Does anyone no any way to fix this short of blowing up itunes off my pc? I uesed the last itunes with no problems ,my son has no problems with his itunes downloads. And yes I have looked for bugs of all kinds .

Puchased movie in iTunes not showing in Videos

I bought a movie via iTunes ...it shows in my "purchased" and I got a receipt of the charge.
Although I'd expect to be able click it there and play (come on Apple!), I finally figured out I had to go to Videos . But only music videos are showing up there. I'm swiping, poking, anything... Nothing!

Purchased Movies purchased in itunes not showing in video's on iphone

I Just purchased the Extended Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It shows up on my mac, shows up on my ipad in video's but on my iphone 5, it does not show up? I can see other cloud movies I have purchased, but these three will not show up at all. I logged out of icloud, got back in, reset phone, turned show videos in icloud on and off, I think it is an application issue.
I am running the lastest iOS v8.0.2 on an iphone 5 (T-mobile as service)
This maybe fixed when I get my 6 plus in a few days, but I wanted to report it non-the less so that it maybe on someone's radar to fix this issue.

RogerOut makes some good points and this feels to me like a ham fisted attempt by Apple to take control of my media in a way that I don't want. The stuff it is choosing to call "home movie" is 100% legit movies, but not ones I bought through the itunes store. So I load a movie and then it mysteriously does not show up in my Apple TV because it has defaulted to "home movie".
What I still fail to understand is what the heck is the purpose of this apart from annoying users who's stuff now does not appear on ATV without explanation or warning. So glad to have this forum to help me, but why should I have to do this to figure out how to overcome a stupid thing that Itunes is doing to my movie (it is a movie!)?
As I say though, what possible benefit is it for a users media to be labelled in this way and anyway, why does calling it a home movie make it unreadable in ATV?

Downloading Purchased TV Shows and Videos

For the last few weeks my computer has been super slow (i.e. it takes an hr to download a one-hr tv show) downloading items I've purchased from Itunes. I've bought things from Itunes forever and it's usually much fast and this is really annoying. Any suggestions?

Loading Itunes TV show to Video Ipod fails

I purchased an Itunes season pass for BCS football games. The pregame content and the the short cut version (approx 20 minutes runtime each) loaded fine. When trying to get the full broadcast transfered from Itunes to the Pod (2+ hours of content) it will stop about 10 minutes shy of completion with error message saying the disk can neither be read from or written to. This has happened 4 times now. i even bought a new song, downloaded it, and moved it to the pod with no problem. I reset the Ipod and it still fails. All software for tunes and pod is up to date. Any help?

That article doesnt address my issue. In troubleshooting, i went and bought another Itunes song, and it loaded fine. Further, this error occured twice prior to me loading one of the smaller video selections. The smaller file loaded fine. If a purchased video selection is corrupt, how do i get a replacement?
