ITunes U Banner Image Size?

On iTunes U, do you know if 750x250 is the size the banner has to be, or is that just a recommended size? can it be less tall than 250?
From what I have been able to determine, if we screw this up, it's a pain to get reset.
Thanks for any help on this matter.

Because of the link box to the right, I prefer 650 x 200. Adjusting it is a pain only if you have a bunch of existing pages. (It pays to experiment before populating it {grin} ).
Change existing pages one by one. Change the template for future pages.
Existing pages: From your initial Welcome page, click on the Edit page link and look for the tiny (tiny, tiny ... {smile} ) button in the upper left corner. If your banner has a lot of background details, it can take a moment to spot it. Click on it and you can upload a new image.
Changing the initial Welcome page did not change subsequent pages built from the Welcome page template. That's where the "hassle" comes in. You have to edit each page and replace the icon in the same manner as the initial one.
Don't forget to change the template also so that future pages will look right. To do that, click the template page name and then "Add Content". From there you can see the "change image" icon in the upper left corner.

  • Welcome banner image size - 600x300?

    I looked more carefully at the brand new guidelines for "Creating Your iTunes U Site" today.
    While Chapter 3 of the iTunes U Admin Guide of May 2006 said that the Welcome page banner should be no more than 750 pixels wide, these May 07 guidelines now say the banner should be 600 by 300 pixels.
    That's quite a change -- and, moreover, that's a size that schools listed in the iTunes U store aren't using. The 5 schools I checked (Bowdoin, NJIT, Penn State, etc.) are using the old 'no more than 750 pixels' guideline.
    Why should we use up 300 pixels of precious height for a banner?
    Is that really the new 'strongly suggested' dimension for the Welcome page banner, or might it be a typo, or ...?

    Duncan Bernhardt discussed this when Apple updated the templates.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=897325&tstart=45
    Basically, it's to make room for the links box.

  • Recover banner image

    We have lost our iTunes U banner image locally due to disk failure and are hoping we can retrieve the image from our iTunes U site. Is there a URL or other mechanism we could employ to download the image from iTunes U? I've attempting using Grab, but our "corners" are hard to pin down.

    It's simpler than you think!
    Just edit your site/division page (whichever has the image you lost). Then you'll see the little box/button for uploading a banner image. Click it. That'll open a browser that gives you options to actually upload a new image. Obviously this is something you don't want to do…but…that same page will show you your current banner image. Guess what?…you can right-click/control click on that image just the same way you would for any other webpage image. Sure, you get a crazy funkified filename for your banner image…but you also get the image.
    Good luck with the rest of your recovery!

  • Spry Photo Gallery Image Size via CSS

    Hello!
    I´ve been customizing the spry photo gallery for a couple of time, but got my little problem when viewing it on a mobile phone. When you load up the pictures with a size of 450 x 300 px for example, put up the right xml file with it´s width and height, so the gallery shows the pictures in that size. So what I want to do is that you can specify the image size with css depending on the device you´re watching the site with. There is div in the css called "mainImage" where the size is in %. When you change it to 75% for example. The pictures are correctly shown with 75% of it´s original size, but the outline (grey background) is still in 100%. When you make this grey background transparent it´s still there and moves the caption down. I guess there have to be done some changes within the SpryImageViewer.js, but I just know very little things about JavaScript. Do you have any clues how to change this to specify the image size via CSS?
    Thank you for your help!!!
    Kind regards,
    Joerg

    I see you are still using Spry 1.5. Have you considered upgrading to
    Spry 1.6.1?
    Also your XML is broken, if you open up your xml in a normal standards
    complaint browser such as firefox, you will see that it doesn't render
    a normal tree view as it would do with other xml files. So i suggest
    checking those errors out.
    Its mainly because you  forgot to close your starting tag of the
    gallerys node. (<gallery
    base = ""
    background = "#FFFFFF"
    banner = "#F0F0F0"
    text = "#000000"
    link = "#0000FF"
    alink = "#FF0000"
    vlink = "#800080"
    before your xml starts.

  • Web Banner Image Fade

    I'm an experienced Java Architect with no experience of JavaFX. I'm trying to develop a proof of concept Flash-style web banner to see if it is feasible to replace existing Flash elements on my client's site with JavaFX elements, thus removing the need for a costly proprietary RIA toolkit.
    Now the banner in question takes a physical URL from an XML document, loads a set number (also configured in a simple XML document) of images horizontally across the banner. It fades each image out independently and once invisible, it replaces that image with another random image from the URL and fades back in (ensuring it doesn't already exist in the other visible images). Whilst doing this, a quote is displayed across the images in a colour set by the XML file, and this quote fades in and out as well, changing to another quote from a set list, and fading back in once the new quote is found.
    Now I'm sure I can figure out some of the more typical functionality that I come across with Java, C++, etc. on a daily basis, such as interacting with an XML document, and loading images from URLs (perhaps), but the actual timing, fading, working loading new images and quotes at the right time, etc. is all new as I tend to develop business systems and not applications with visual effects. So help is needed on how to best go about doing this. I've begun with a very basic attempt at a Stage and tips on going forward would be appreciated.
    Also, as a side note, in JavaFX how would I extend the Stage and Scenes, and any other object, essentially, and then load them as variables...? remember I'm an OO-oriented Java and C++ programmer, so I understand inheritance, but cannot seem to find the right syntax in JavaFX after an hour working on this basic Flash-eliminating challenge.
    My code is below:
    package ribbon;
    import javafx.animation.Interpolator;
    import javafx.animation.KeyFrame;
    import javafx.animation.Timeline;
    import javafx.scene.paint.Color;
    import javafx.scene.Scene;
    import javafx.scene.shape.Rectangle;
    import javafx.scene.text.Font;
    import javafx.scene.text.Text;
    import javafx.stage.Stage;
    //capture the dynamic width and height of the scene
    var width: Number = bind scene.width;
    var height: Number = bind scene.height;
    var quote: Text = Text {
        font: Font {
            size: 16
        x: 10,
        y: 30,

                height: 25
                arcHeight: 5
                arcWidth: 5
                fill: Color.BLACK
                opacity: 0.5
            quote,
    var angleStart = 1.0;
    var angle = angleStart;
    var fade = Timeline {
        keyFrames: [
            KeyFrame {
                time: 0s
                values: angle => angleStart tween Interpolator.LINEAR
            KeyFrame {
                time: 3s
                values: angle => 0.2 tween Interpolator.LINEAR
        autoReverse: true
        repeatCount: 1000
    var stage = Stage {
        title: "Photo Ribbon"
        width: 680
        height: 100
        scene: scene
    fade.play();
    stage;Thanks in advance.

    If the banner image is not displaying, it is either not in an acceptable web file format (optimized for web as jpg, gif or png). Or it is corrupted.  Or the path to the image file on server is broken.

  • Enhanced Podcast Image Size?

    Hi - I'm wondering if anyone knows what the minimum, maximum, recommended, or optimal image size and resolution are for building enhanced podcasts in Garageband. I have looked through a variety of support options at Apple and I can't find any guidelines about what file types and sizes can be used when adding images to an enhanced podcast, just which sound and video files are supported. The podcasts may be viewed via iTunes or on an iPod, so the viewing size may vary drastically. Any tips would be helpful! Thank you!

    Hi
    Optimal size/resolution for an extended podcast image is 300x300 at 72 dpi. Use .jpg

  • PictureLibrarySlideshowWebPart - Change image size to original size

    Hi,
    I'm using the PictureLibrarySlideshow Web part as image slider in the banner of a SharePoint website. Apparently this web part changes the image size so it is smaller than its original size.
    Is there a simple solution to solve this and resize the image? I found some Jquery solutions but they did not fix the problem.
    Thanks!

    Hi
    Ward010 ,
    In Slideshow web part, picture is initialized with field value that contains the Url of  Web image (EncodedAbsWebImgUrl  field). Unfortunately it is not supported to configure in web part what image
    type (original, web or thumbnail) should be displayed in Slideshow The solution that demonstrated below allows to display original images instead of web images in Slideshow web part.
    In order to specify original images, method overriding for picture initialization is used:
    function SlideshowObjectInitializer() {
      ShowPic = (function(ShowPicOrig) {
          return function() {
               var ssObj = arguments[0];  //SlideShow object
               var curPicIdx=ssObj.index; //current picture index
               ShowPicOrig.apply(this, arguments); //call original ShowPic
               //apply some changes to display original picture in SlideShow control
               ssObj.image.src = ssObj.linkArray[curPicIdx]; //display original image instead of web image
               //change picture & container size to auto instead of fixed (by default web image size is used)
               ssObj.image.setAttribute('height','100%');
                   ssObj.image.setAttribute('width','100%');
                   var cell = ssObj.cell;
                   cell.style.width = 'auto';
                   cell.style.height = 'auto';
                   cell.style.display = '';
                   var pcell = ssObj.cell.parentNode;
               pcell.style.width = 'auto';
                   pcell.style.height = 'auto';
      })(ShowPic);
    ExecuteOrDelayUntilScriptLoaded(SlideshowObjectInitializer, 'imglib.js');
    Save      JavaScript code to the file, for example in SlideshowObjectInitializer.txt      and upload it to SiteAssets Library
    Add      CEWP on page where Slideshow web part is located and in the Content Editor      tool pane, under Content Link property,
    type /SiteAssets/SlideshowObjectInitializer.txt

  • Cover resolution-image size

    I have no access to the iTunes Store because I'm not in the US and don't have a US credit card.
    Now that iTunes comes with Cover Flow I would like album artwork to look gorgeous on my 17" Flat CRT Dell. I'm trying to find an optimal resolution (dpi) and image size for cover art.
    I've made some tests with jpeg 500x500 pixels at 105 dpi and with png and psd. Also with 600x600 at 127 dpi. When in the viewer they looks OK but it seems Cover Flow blurs a bit the image when in Full Screen. Any ideas?
    Thanks a lot

    "You don't have to live in the US to view the US iTunes Store. You can't buy anything from it, but you can still browse it."
    What I meant was I don't have access to the ITunes artwork.
    But back to my question, don't you feel that when in Full screen mode the image is blured a little?

  • PSE 9: Image size is printing/saving larger than what I selected.

    I was sent some pdf files for a banner for my kids' upcoming birthday party.  When I open one of the images it said that the image size was 7"x7" (it's a 7" circle) so I left it as is.  The only thing I changed on the sign was I changed the color of a number and two letters from pink to blue and that was it.  I then saved the image and gave it a new name.  When I look at it, upload it to the print shop or print it from my home computer the image is no longer 7" but is now 8" (the circle) and it larger than the rest of the banner pieces.  I have no idea how to get it to print/upload at the original 7" size.

    I opened this image in PSE, and the diameter measures 6" on my equipment. Be that as it may, if you want to reduce the size try the following:
    Go to Window and check rulers to make them visible
    Open picture file
    Duplicate background layer. Shut off visibility of the background layer by clicking on its eye icon. Work on the background copy layer.
    Access the move tool, and using one of the corner handlles drag towards the center to make image smaller. Commit.
    Flatten image

  • I broke my banner image :-(

    While attempting to update my "welcome" banner image (the one accross the top of the welcome page), I made a mistake so that the file I told it to upload doesn't exist. The result is that the banner image now displays a big red X.
    The little pencil icon to allow me to upload a new image does not appear in the big red X, so I cannot fix my error.
    It is my understanding that Apple has to do something on its side to "reset" my account to fix this. Will you reset this banner image for me?
    Cheers!

    How I did this:
    I copied the path to the folder containing the image into the File Open Dialog Box and clicked Open. It went to the correct folder, and I think I clicked Open again without selecting the file. Therefore it attempted to upload a folder name instead of a file.
    In attempting to replicate the steps leading to the error, I discover that it must not have happened as I originally thought. Unless I select a file, the dialog box will not close. Ergo, I must have clicked a file. The ones listed next to the one I tried to upload are a PNG file (perfectly legit, though the wrong size) and a Word document. I think I must have clicked the word document, which of course is an invalid image file format.
    Make sense?
    Cheers!

  • Centering your iTunes U Banner

    Hello,
    I am new to iTunes U and I am currently trying to center the banner on my page. I have not found an option within the iTunes U tools and I was wondering how I would go about doing this. Also, I am having trouble adding blocks to the right and left of my page with categories like "Top Downloads" or "Search", what is the process for adding blocks to the sides?

    Hello,
    It is not possible to center your banner image. You might be able to "fake" this by having your site's background color match the background color of your image and then offset the image so that it appears centered.
    When you are editing a page you will have a pencil and plus icon that allow you to add boxes. Note that you can only add boxes to the left side of the page.
    Thanks.

  • Did the banner image guidelines for Public Site Manager changed this week?

    The guideline example illustration used to have the Provider Name underneath the Page Path (breadcrumb) on the top left of the banner image. What happened? We published our site (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) on Monday and now the Provider Name's gone and our layout is off. Looks like the image is placed lower and some of the description text is covered by the section. Take a look at these universities(U of Arizona, Full Sail U, Carnegie Mellon U,Brock U, and Albert Einstein).

    iTunes U Public Site Manager no longer displays the second level provider name heading in the upper left corner of your provider page. While removing the second level provider name heading, additional space was also removed from the page, causing existing banners to overlap feature boxes. The iTunes U Team has fixed this issue and restored the previous page layout. Review "Understanding provider page image guidelines" to learn more about customizing your provider page.

  • OneKey back-up - image size?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to use OneKey backup for the first time with my new Yoga 2 Pro.
    A couple of questions:
    The estimated image size is over 90gb - that sounds enormous to me!  Can that be right?
    The default location is a small harddrive partition (I guess with the OneKey program on, etc?) - so not much use.  Are there any problems with putting the back-up on the main partition of the laptop, or are there problems that mean I won't be able to get at it when I need to?
    Many thanks,

  • New Image Size and Resolution in CC

    Hi there.
    Ok, maybe i'm missing something, but how do i reduce the ppi's of a given image in the Photoshop CC? Changing it in the image size, in the Resolution field, it acomplish nothing. It logs an entry in the History panel, but nothing changes in the picture. Did Adobe changed how this works, or it's just a bug?
    Thank you.

    Try setting to real-world measurement, like inches or cm.
    Hi Charles, i think that change in cm/mm/in it's the only way to change the image ppi (in my case save/resample it to 108ppi). Can you confirm that this is correct?
    Anyway when i go to image size (new panel of CC) the w/h are:
    1) grey and always set in pixel with resample flagged.
    2) always set in inches with resample NON-flagged (also if my ruler unit is in Pixel).
    (and actually that is not new behavior. CS6 behaved same way when width and height were set to percent)
    In CS6 and CC i never seen w/h in percent  - where is my error?
    Many thanks!

  • Save Image size setting in Save for Web

    I'm using Save for Web (CS3) and scaling the file to different sizes with "scale image". I'm wanting to use the same scale settings for many images but when I save the pre-set the image size settings don't get saved. I'm wanting to use it as part of an action but the setting wont stick. Any suggestions? Alternative work flows?

    That's never been saved as part of the S4W presets. Bloody annoying.
