Itunes U content does not update on some students iPads

A large number of teachers at out high schools post course content to iTunes U.
We have 2 students in a class who can see old content in iTunes U but new content does not show up.
Their iPads have been restarted several times.
Any suggestions?

Ensure their network connection is strong.
Ensure that the Apple ID those students are using is the same as the one they enrolled in the course with. To see the Apple ID, go to the iTunes U catalog, and scroll to the bottom.
Ensure that you want do not have them blocked in your course manager. Log on to the iTunes U course manager, view your list of participants, and check the blocked section. If the students are in this section, hit the X to the right of their name. This will remove them from the blocked section.
If all else fails, try having them delete the course, and re-enroll in it.

Content does not update when published

My content is not updating when I publish updates to my app. Side loading shows the updates, but an updated published folio doesn't. On the third try, I got a blank light grey screen. I finally had to unpublish and republish the content, which is obviously not an ideal situation.
Are there any known bugs or problems at the moment that could be causing this issue? The DPS Status page doesn't have any info.

I'm not aware of a way to get out of this state cleanly. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app fixes the problem (unless your unpublish/republish again), but it's difficult to tell your customers to uninstall/reinstall. Another option is to unpublish and then publish the affected folios as different folios, but then some of your users will end up with two versions of a similar folio until they archive the older version.
Let me ask around to make sure that I'm correct about the cause and to see if there's a cleaner workaround.

ITunes Last Played does not update when syncing from iPod

When I synch any of my Ipods, the last played field does not update in Itunes.
If I play the song from Itunes. (11.1.5) Last Played works fine.
I tried the crossfade solution, but that did not work. My crossfade was already not selected.
Any other thoughts?

As if by magic it is now working. I went away from the mac for a couple of hours, came back and it started to work. This is scary as I would expect this kind of action on a Mickysoft machine but not a Mac. Ho Hum - at least the problem has been sorted even if I don't know how.

ITunes 11.1 does not properly sync with an iPad mini version 7.0

I am having difficulties using the "Podcasts" app on an iPad mini.
Having recently downloaded the newest version (11.1) of iTunes, I have realized that iTunes now believes that my iPad mini has 20.65 GB free, when it really only has 6.4 GB available (according to settings/general). The iPad mini is right because, there are many (over 100) podcasts which have not synced to iTunes. These podcasts can be accessed and listened to on the iPad mini.
This may be a device fault, as many of my podcasts have been coming up with "Download error. Tap to retry". This keeps approximately 1 in 10 podcasts in the downloads queue, but can still be listened to in full. Additionally, for approx. 1 in 5 podcasts, the "date released" tag that occurs underneath the name of the episode are set at the default 31 Dec 2000. This problem I can deal with, but the original problem keeps me from sharing episodes I have downloaded with other devices.
Additionally, my device occasionally requires several attempts to find the default wifi network. It recognises other wifi networks instantly, but the default one often doesn't display as an option to connect to for about 5-10 refreshes.
The second and third problem/symptom still occurred using the previous operating system. The first problem/symptom did not (to my knowledge) occur previously.
Does anyone have any input on this problem? I have tried google to search for the solution to this, but did not come up with anything.

TS3697 iTunes 10.7 does not sync photos to iPod, iPad, iPhone

It used to be so easy to select albums in iTunes to sync to my other devices, but it no longer works. I've wiped out the iPod cache, done a fresh download of iTunes 7, and all I've managed to do is wipe all my previous albums off my iPhone. How can I get iPhoto 11 v9.4 albums into iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch (all running OS6) from my MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion? I get nothing but error messages saying that iTunes no longer syncs photos with devices.

This was a bug that Apple fixed with their updated iPhoto version 9.4.1 which just became available a day or two ago.

I also have the Mcaffe security centre so on the face of it we have very similar situations and I had not problems.
You asked what I meant about saving the installer on your PC.
When you go to the iTunes download page:

And click on download, you should be offered the choice of running the installer or saving it. You need to click on save and then choose a folder on you PC where you want it saved. But I think you already did that.
After the installer file - iTunessetup.exe - is save on your computer, you double click on it to run it.
It's very odd that the installer fails at different stages. usually when the installation fails, it is at a specific stage and usually generates an error message.
I am afraid I am mystified. Have you had any other problems with your PC which might suggest a general problem not specific to iTunes?
The only other suggestion I have is to download a fresh copy of the installer - in case it got corrupted. You could also try using "run as administrator" to run the installer. It should be an option if you right click on the installer file.
The other thing it might be worth trying is to install it from another account, but you would need to create another administrator account if you don't a;ready have one. Or if you have another account that is not an admin account, you can temporarily promote it from the control panel>>User accounts.

Have you tried resetting the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if your Music app is behaving normally.

Manual sync to ITunes does not update music

I have a generation 3 (I think--it looks like the model number is A1318) IPOD Touch running version 4.1 operating system. I have ITunes version 12.0.1.26.
It does not automatically sync. When I select manual sync, it appears to go through the process and indicates that it has completed the sync, but nothing has changed. It does not update the IPOD with new songs from my library.
Any help would be appreciated. For example are thees operating systems compatible? If they are what am I doing wrong.

Try backing up to iTunes and restore from backup
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
Note that ll the synced media like apps and music have to be on the computer since they are not included in the backup

Before you connect any device to a new library go to the Devices tab of the the preferences panel via Edit > Preferences (Windows) or iTunes > Preferences (Mac) and ensure the box next to Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically is ticked. You can now safely connect the device to your computer without the danger of media being automatically deleted or overwritten.
To get all your content off your connect your iPad to your new computer.
Then use a 3rd party piece of software to transfer your content

I can manually fix this in the TOC by changing the character style to none after the toc has been generated, but I don't want to do this.

Approval Workflow does not update the Content Approval status if started automatically

I’m using a simple Approval Workflow associated with
Content Approval on site pages. It works fine when I set it to be started manually (by using
Allow this workflow to be manually started by an authenticated user with Edit Item permissions
option) and on the completion of the workflow the
Content Approval status is updated accordingly. But when I set it to be started automatically (by using
Start this workflow when a new item is created
/ Start this workflow when an item is changed
options), it does not updates the Content Approval status. Note that I’ve set the
Update the approval status after the workflow is completed (use this workflow to control content approval)
option to true.

It is recommended to select "Start this workflow to approve publishing a major version of an item" when you want to use the workflow to manage content approval for
a library.
According to the Notes for “Enable Content Approval” option in
this reference:
If you are using this Approval workflow to manage content approval (moderation) for a library, and you selected the Start this workflow to approve publishing a major version
of an item check box on the Add a Workflow page..
If you did not select the Start this workflow to approve publishing a major version of an item check box on the Add a Workflow page because you do not want this workflow to
be the default content approval workflow for a library, you can select the Update the approval status (use this workflow to control content approval) check box to make this workflow a secondary content approval workflow that specific users can
start manually.
That means having an approval workflow start automatically when a document is changed or created is not a good practice when you want to use the workflow to manage
content approval for a library. You should either select "Start this workflow to approve publishing a major version of an item" or give users the option to start the workflow manually at the time they want to submit for an approval.
