Itunes U in my University

I wish to know, why my country isn´t in the options to get itunes u, my University is La Universidad del Rosario, and we are from Bogotá- Colombia, what can we do to get it?

Your question is one of the most frequently asked in this forum: "Why isn't my university in iTunes U?…I am a native of X," where "X" is some country not represented within iTunes U.
Since iTunes U is a part of the iTunes Store (at least in a tangential way for private sites and in a very real sense for "iTunes U in the iTunes Store", Apple must first work through all the legalities of dealing with a "not-for-profit degree granting institution" in your country. Every country has different laws governing such things. When a university becomes a part of iTunes U, someone who can make a legally binding agreement for your -whole- school must sign a lengthy agreement and, since Apple is headquartered in the US, the agreement is likely made more complex because it involves international law. It is almost certainly for this reason that Apple must, as much as the good folks who work within the iTunes U team would otherwise wish, move slowly and carefully when dealing with nations not currently part of iTunes U.
I don't know that my theory is 100% correct…but I suspect it is because the very first countries to have access to iTunes U outside the US were those countries in the common law tradition (Canada, Ireland, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand). It was probably simpler to target those countries first. It is not a matter of preferring some countries to others…it is more a matter of dealing with all countries legally and fairly…it's legally simpler to target some countries first. Consider, for example, that iTunes U does not exist in China…and I bet Apple would love to introduce it there, were it simple to do so.

  • How can I set iTunes to load "iTunes U = Name of University" at startup?

Is there a way thru preferences, plist, or app contents to make iTunes automatically load a specific URL when starting?

I too would like to set our University as the default iTunes application opening page for our SOE. The only solution (work around) I have to-date is to use the URL or the file generated by dragging and dropping any item in the store to the Finder, then placing this file in useful places such as the account Startup Items, the Dock, web browser's bookmarks etc.
My preference would be to as you suggested make this an iTunes startup preference and have bookmarks within the iTunes application.

  • Difficulty in Getting iTunes U for your University

    Hi all,
I'm an employee of Stonehill College in Easton, MA and am researching iTunes U as a possibility at our school. I am wondering about what some of you think about iTunes U, and most important, how difficult it was for your institution to get iTunes U? Thanks

I think there's a waiting list. The costs are your time and resources. There's a legal agreement with Apple, but no charge for the service as such.

  • What Does "Configure Universal Access" in iTunes do?

What Does “Configure Universal Access” in iTunes do?

Configure universal access does in fact just bring you to settings like large text and voiceover designed to help the impaired
the fact your phone disapeered after hitting it was probably just an unrelated glitch in itunes. Unplug and replug your phone to get it to show up again

  • Itunes on ipod will not work (but Safari will).

Ok, this is a long one so hold on.
I am using my universities Wi-Fi and two days ago I could use itunes on my ipod, but yesterday and today I can't (I have $12 worth of music waiting to be downloaded). Other applications are not working properly either (youtube, maps). On itunes, it just sits their saying "loading" forever, and doesn't change.
    However there are some variables:
*I can connect to Safari fine on the university connection.
*two days ago I could connect to itunes fine on the university connection.
*my friend can connect to itunes using her phone and a different wi-fi connection.
*I can connect to itunes with a different wi-fi connection.
Any ideas what the problem might be?

Well, in two weeks no one has even responded to this issue, so much for the online support.
I reallllly prefer to talk to an actual human anyway, unfortunately the phone number is well hidden.
Fortunately, I got the problem fixed by a bit of luck, Trend Micro virus protection has a "tune up" feature that I just found, and it solved the problem.
Whatever the problem was?? Dont know, dont care, as long as it is fixed.
Anyway, if anybody is reading this, and has the ability to kill this thread, please do so, as there is no longer any need for it to exist.

  • ITunes Sharing Drops out with Xserve G5

    Hello All,
I have an Xserve G5 running 10.4.11, and clients running 10.4.9. We're running iTunes 7.5 everywhere. The server sits on a university network, but does dole out IP adresses for a subnet existing in a computer lab. So, I am using the server to do some iTunes sharing, which are listening assignments for a class. To my knowledge, this is the only way to share the same iTunes playlist with the university and my computer lab's networks.
Problem is, iTunes doesn't show up in Macs that are booted up after the Xserve has already launched iTunes. Any computer that was launched before the Xserve iTunes launched can quit and relaunch iTunes, always finding the share. But reboot the client, and the shared iTunes cannot be found.
Interestingly, say the Xserve iTunes is showing up fine everywhere. If, on a client, I open the local iTunes preferences and turn OFF sharing (both looking for share and sharing local with others) and then turn it back on again - the Xserve iTunes disappears from EVERY client.
Did I miss a setting somewhere? It's very buggy, and random. There may be other things that make the Xserve iTunes disappear, but this is the only method I've found to make it happen while I'm watching.
We have a few clients sharing iTunes on the university network, it is always rock solid. So there is something about the server that is making this happen. Anybody have any thoughts on this? I really appreciate all ideas.
    Thanks.

To add, just tried sharing iTunes with Network Beacon, to no avail. Then I get two iTunes shared, but both behave in the same way.

  • ITunes U Temporarily Unavailable Errors?

We are getting multiple errors like...
We could not complete your iTunes U Store request.
The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.
When trying to edit our iTunes U podcast content, etc.
I was wondering if others where having issues and this was a global problem, or if it might be just an issue with our backend?
So, are you having these issues too?

    Joopthing,
Wrong forum. This thread is specific to iTunes U ("U" equals "University"), not iTunes generally. There is never any cost to download things from iTunes U ... so this makes me think you've got the iTunes Store in mind. We can't help you here (this thread has to do with a specific iTunes U problem ... the problems could be related ... but you would be better served by posting to a different forum).

  • Having trouble syncing PDF file to itunes ibooks

    Hello:
I am attempting to get a PDF file that I have on my iphone (ibooks) to sync to itunes.  For some reason, I am unable to get it to sync to itunes so I can read it on my laptop.  Please advise.
    Thanks

I too am having the same issue.  I've noticed some of my pdf's I've saved on my iPad have transfered back to iTunes but some others aren't.  The reason this is an issue as I have more than one iDevice and would like to keep them in sync.  The pdf's that haven't synced back to iTunes are the Standford University Fall 2011 objective c pdf's.

  • Is there a "university" that would host my textbooks?

    Hi Community!
I am a teacher who produces free courses for IT topics for people that use my companies products. I applied for an iTunes U account with Apple but they only accept 2-4 year accredited colleges or universities (and not companies that offer courses).
Is there an iTune U college or university that would allow my textbooks to be made available on their site?
    Regards,
    Evan

  • How to join iTunes U in U.S.?

I am trying to set up a iTunes U account for University of California, Irvine, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do that. I don't have an account manager with Apple, so I can't contact him/her. I sent an email a month ago to the iTunes U requesting more information, I received a canned response saying I would receive a phone call in seven days, but was never got a called back. I also called 800-800-2775 (number in canned email) and was transferred to 3 or 4 people, none of whom could help me. Nor is there a lot of contact/sign-up info. on the Apple/iTunes U site(s).
    Can someone help me out?
    MUCH appreciated!

I've filled out the request form twice, both times receiving the confirmation email promising a call within seven days, and never hearing from anyone. It's a bit discouraging, but I'm willing to be as persistent as I need to be. I work for Central Arizona College and we see a great deal of potential in this, but are at a standstill until we can talk to someone. Any insight you can give would be greatly appreciated.

  • What type of storage is needed for iTunes U

We are getting up and running iTunes U on our University and we are running into the issue of what type of storage we need to provide for iTunes U, i.e. (web share, afp share, smb share. If you could let me know or point me in the direction i need to go it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
The [administraton guide|http://deimos.apple.com/rsrc/doc//iTunesUAdministrationGuide/Introduction /chapter1_section1.html] doesn't explicitly state what type of server is necessary, but given that iTunes U is based on RSS feeds, a Web server would be a good choice for hosting your content (much like hosting any podcast).
    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

  • Public iTunes U versus Private iTunes U

University of Pennsylvania is in the process of rolling out our iTunes U pilot. We have decided to start with the public version of iTunes U, without authenticating through our local servers, so that anyone can view/download data from our iTunes U server space. We decided to launch this way mostly because we're a revenue-generating group and we're looking to use the iTunes U platform as a way to recoup costs, by doing production work for groups like Alumni Relations, Development, et al.
The problem, of course, is that our academic departments and their faculty are pushing us to launch the private version of iTunes U, with local University of Pennsylvania authentication tokens, etc. We're a very small unit (3 people) trying to collaborate with over 20 schools and administrative departments across a very decentralized institution, and I've been charged with getting empirical evidence from participating iTunes U institutions about which interface - the private or the public - is more valuable.
Those of you who run both private and public versions of your site:
    1) Do you administer a private side with a staff; a private side by yourself; a public side with a staff; a public side by yourself; or some combination thereof?
    2) If you have a private side, is it used more than the public side?
    3) Do your private side users and administrators authenticate to the entire site, with free viewing to all files within the private side? Or, do your private side users and administrators authenticate to the course-specific level only?
Thanks to anyone willing to offer advice!

    Mayumi,
Please find my answers below each question:
    1) Do you administer a private side with a staff; a private side by yourself; a public side with a staff; a public side by yourself; or some combination thereof?
I administer both private and public sides. It is not difficult to do so once you have established the authentication parameters. We are currently authenticating through LDAP and have integrated iTunes U with Blackboard. Once a student logs into Blackboard and uses the iTunes plugin, he/she has access only to the classes he/she has signed up for that have an itunes U component and the public areas. iTunes U can also be accesed through our website. If you are a student, you will have access to your classes and the public areas. If you are a "guest" you will only see the public area.
    2) If you have a private side, is it used more than the public side?
Our private side is used as much as there are classes interested in using iTunes. Right now, we have been very successful and students seem to be very happy with the initiatives.
    3) Do your private side users and administrators authenticate to the entire site, with free viewing to all files within the private side? Or, do your private side users and administrators authenticate to the course-specific level only?
No. Our authenticated users only have permission to view content that is relevant to them unless a professors decides to share his or her materials with the rest of the community. We do emphasize in respecting everybodys privacy.
    I hope this helps!

  • How can I add the logo image for a single item in an RSS feed?

    Hello,
I am an administrator of iTunes U at the University of Minnesota.
Before transitioning new public site, we are trying to figure out how to put a logo image into RSS feeds.
We use our server to makes xml codes to create RSS feeds for podcasts.
We successfully put a logo image for a collection in a RSS feed, but putting a logo image for a single item did not work.
Below is the part of the xml code for the logo image for a single item, which is created by our server. I deleted other parts of xml code for your convenience.

Haven't created too many podcasts, but in this one
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/connecticut-college-sculpture/id372414245
    or
    itpc://video.conncoll.edu/d/sculptures/index.xml
before we included the audio files, we added the images in iTunes.
Select the file, then go to File>Get Info, here you can add metadata, and in Artwork add an image.
Then upload this file to your server. Works for audio files anyways.
You don't see the image in the web podcast, but you do in iTunes after you download each item, in "Show item artwork" in lower left. Click on the image and it zooms out.
