ITunes U View Options

I have downloaded several courses from iTunes U. I would like to be able to list all the respective videos/podcasts in a date order or if that is not available, at a numerical sequence from lecture 1 to lecture 10 or whatever.
Is there a way of doing this. I have played with the limited view options presented to me, but am unable to find a way of storing them all in a linear fashion.
is there a way or is this just another example of iTunes' limited functionality?

Hello, panegyric.
If you mean you have downloaded the items from an iTunes U Course or an iTunes U Collection to a PC or a Mac computer, you can click the Release Date to sort the downloaded content in ascending or descending order in iTunes.
If you do not see Release Date in the iTunes column headings, do these:
Click iTunes U in LIBRARY (upper left hand corner of the software iTunes.
In View menu, choose Show View Options...
Check Release Date if the box is not checked.
Close the Show View Options window.
Now the Release Date column should be in your iTunes. You might need to scroll all way to the right of the screen to display it. You can drag the heading to the left to move it to an easier view location if you want.
See if the two screen captures below will help you more.
If you use an iPad or iPhone, the orders are fixed according to the setting the course/collection owner selected.
In an iTunes U Course, the podcasts (video, audio, PDF, etc.) are displayed in the order of their attached Posts positions: the podcast in the first post is displayed first, the podcast in the last post is shown last.
In an iTunes U Collection, however, the owner has three settings to choose: the earliest first, the latest first, or manual. So whatever the order the owner chose in iTunes collection in the SITE Manager, that is the order shown on an iOS device. I do not think you can change them.
Best.

  • ITunes Show View Options - Display an option for all playlists in one go??

    Hi there
Ive got about 200 playlists and need to show the same option for each (BPM).
How can I tell iTunes to display the BPM in ALL playlists in one go?
I can't manually select it from
    View
    Show View Options
    Tick BPM
    Close Show View Options
on all 200 playlists, it would take far too long.
    Any help?
    Thanks

iTunes does not provide a way to do that.  When a playlist is first created, it inherits the "View" from how the Music library is set at that point in time.  From then on, changes to its View settings are independent of all other playlists.
There may be a script somewhere that helps.  Otherwise you have to do them one at a time.
It can however, be done with fewer clicks than you state.  Right-click any column header (preferably the one to the left of where you want BPM to show) and click the item "Beats Per Minute."

  • ITunes View Options- No Ringtones!

I would like to put some different ringtones on my new iphone, so I searched the apple site, and was instructed: "If you do not see the bell icon on any songs, choose View > View Options, and make sure the Ringtone checkbox is checked."
Now I've gone in to itunes, selected View Options from the View menu, and looked very hard for that Ringtone checkbox, but there is none! I checked for a software update, and my system tells me I'm up to date; so now what? I've searched a few dozen pages here, but frankly don't have the patience to sift through the hundreds of pages of threads... I hope someone can help!
    Thanks!

I have MacBook Pro and Mac Pro.
I live in UK. I could not find "Ringtone" from View option.
Then I checked my MacBook Pro, it has Ringtone view option that I can see.
    Both Mac are iTune 7.7.1.
I checked carefully, both same but my MacBook can not see the select option for to tick Ringtone.
Then I l Sign out for iTune store, then I could tick Ringtone from view option, then I sign in again.
So I have now "Ringtone" in view.
    Try this!!!

  • View options in iTunes

Under view options, I would like to sort albums by year and descending. This 'descending' option was in earlier versions if iTunes. How can we sort the albums where the new content appears on the top of the list?

    Hi,
In song view you can sort a number of field by either ascending or descending order.
You can select year, click on heading, this changes to descending order, click again to get ascending.
Is this what your looking for?

  • Installed itunes 11.0.2 on Mac OSX 10.6.8 - why no Size or Kind in View Options? Can't distinguish WAVs from mp3s!

How can I distinguish mulitple WAVs from mp3s in Itunes 11.0.2 when no "size" or "kind" options are available? Also, how can I recover lost playlists?

Itunes crashed today & automatically installed 11.0.2 when I reopened it Chris.
There are definitely no "size" or "kind" boxes under View>Options, see screengrab. I didn't delete any playlists, they disappeared!

  • Changes in viewing options in iTunes 8

    Hi all,
I have had a disappointment with iTunes 8 in terms of the viewing options. I used to view and sort through my library in the list view mode where I would have 3 columns to choose from genre, artist, and album. This was a very convenient and rapid way to sort through and find music I was looking for. This option appears to be gone from iTunes 8. Is it? Why? I am not a fan of sorting through a long list. The grid viewing option does not please me so much either. I see no reason to bog down my system with all the cover art...
So does anyone know if it is possible to restore the list view with the 3 sorting columns I had in previous iTunes versions?

    Within iTunes:
    View->Show Browser. Or just CTRL-B
    Best of Luck

  • No view option in itunes 8

as the title say i can’t change the view option for my ipode, if i’m in the music library it works but when i highlight music under my ipod it’s greyed out, it’s also greyed out in the view option on the tool bar, anybody got a fix
i’ve tried going back to 7.7.1 but it won’t let me

    same here
under "Library", the music view can be changed just fine
and under "Devices", meaning the ipod, the music view can't be changed or even select any song as they are all grayed out
I'm sure it has always been that way, even back in my first itunes 6.xx versions

  • View Options in iTunes 8

Two customizable view options in iTunes 7 seem to have disappeared from iTunes 8, can anyone help me find them? First of all, those annoying little arrows that take you to the iTunes store. They appear in the list after song title, artist, and album title after whatever song you have selected. There was an option to turn them off in iTunes 7 but I can't find it now. The second one is way more crucial. In the browser up top there are three categories--Genre, Artist, and Album. I don't use Genre at all, and I had it turned off in iTunes 7 so that only Artist and Album appeared, but now I can't figure out how to do that. Is there a way to get rid of the Genre box in the browser too? Thanks for your help.

Heres a easy way to do it on mac computers. Work on mine for iTunes 8. God I hate those arrows
I"n iTunes 7, there was a preference to disable the links to the iTunes Store -- these are the small arrows that appear when you select a song in your library. In iTunes 8, however, that preference is gone. A bit of digging in the iTunes' binary found the solution, thankfully.
If you'd like to disable the iTunes Store link arrows, quit iTunes, open Terminal, and run this command:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links -bool FALSE
Relaunch iTunes, and voila, no more arrows! To reverse this behavior, you can repeat the above command (quit iTunes first), but replace FALSE with TRUE. (Or, if you prefer, you can completely delete the added preference with defaults delete com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links).
I'm sure this would have been submitted by someone at some point, but the arrows annoyed me enough to go digging for a solution -- and thanks to Kirk McElhearn for his help in finding and testing the fix!"

  • View options in iTunes 10

Is there any way to apply "view options" (under the view menu) universally to all playlists in iTunes 10? As far as I can tell, it only applies to the selected playlist.
    Thanks-

Setting the Library's view options (View -> View Options, or Command-J) creates the default template view options for any future playlist.
To fix the view options for existing playlists, use this free script: http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=assimilateviewoptions

  • 2G Nano View Options in iTunes dont get saved!!!

I noticed an issue with the 2G Nano that the view options (columns with Artist, Song, Track Number etc.) always get reset to the default settings in iTunes every time I plug it in to charge/update music. I know with all the other iPods I've owned the iTunes view options (columns with Artist, Song, Track Number etc.) for the particular iPod are always saved and appear the same from computer to computer within iTunes. Does anyone have any idea why the view options aren't being saved on the 2G Nanos when it is viewed within iTunes?

The other post on this may have been mine.
What I find is that the Music folder under the plugged-in iPod source always comes up in a weird configuration upon connecting the nano. You can customize from there, and it will hold the new column choices/positions during the session. However, once you eject the iPod and connect again later, you're back to the original nonsense columns (nonsense in that they make no sense for a music library ... the Description column is present, intended for podcasts).
Fortunately, playlists seem to work. So, I now transfer all my music in one big smart playlist and, when browsing the contents of my nano, I select the playlist rather than Music as the source folder. It's a decent workaround, but I hope the problem is fixed in the next revision.

  • ITunes 11.0.3.42 - Show View Options Doesn't work

I just upgraded my Windows PC to iTunes 11.0.3.42, and I am trying to enable showing the artwork in the songs view.  However, when try to open the "Show View Options" screen, it will not open.  An icon appears in my taskbar, but when I click on it to see the window, it disappears.  No matter what I try, it will not show the window.  I have tried minimizing and moving the main iTunes window to see if it is hiding behind it, but I can't seem to get it to display.  Without this window, I cannot turn on the Album Artwork in the songs view.  Tried using the CTRL-J shortcut, and I get the same behavior.
Any ideas?  Anyone else having this issue?

I had this problem for a long time and I finally found a fix!
Open iTunes, and then click View -> Show View Options.  And of course, you can't get to the window no matter what you do, even though it shows up in the task bar, right?
Leave iTunes just like it is.  Then go to your desktop, right click, and click screen resolution and change it.  Let the resolution change and then just let it automatically change back to your previous resolution and you're done! The View Options window should now be accessible.

  • Itunes View Options - Can U change the default settings?

I am constantly adding "Composer" to my view options in my Itunes Library and when in ITunes Store. Is there a way to create a number of view options (eg. Artist, Album, When Added, Composer, etc.) and save this as a "default setting" so that I don't have to keep adding Composer. If there is, I haven't found it yet.

Time it was possible, don't you think?

  • Cannot keep settings in iTunes - "View Option"

I want certain information to show in my iTunes library like title, singer, composer, etc. I go to View Options and check what I want to show and then click SAVE. It's fine....until I leave and come back. Then I'm back to the default settings...I guess they're the default since I can't get rid of them. I haven't found anyplace to change the defaults, but I don't want to change these settings each time I view a song in my music library.
What am I doing wrong? I have iTunes 9.6.3 but this has been going on through past upgrades as well.

    Same thing happening for me.
    Really irritating.

  • Can't get iTunes view options to stay on 2G Nano

Every time I connect my 2G Nano, iTunes changes my view options back to the original factory settings, forcing me to readjust them. This doesn't happen with my 5G iPod and I haven't been able to figure a way around it. Any suggestions?

Do you see iTunes.exe running in Task Manager > Processes?
