ITunes unable to install

Hi everyone,
I have been experiencing a problem with the installation process involved with iTunes.
I will click on the download button for iTunes on the Apple website, run the download ect. When it gets up to the installation popp up, all the files will install and everything seems to be going fine. But then at the end, a message will pop up saying 'There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. Please contact your administrator for support'. This has been going on for quite some time now
I have unistalled all the programmes associated with Apple ie.
Bonjour
Apple Mobile Device Support
ect
Please help with this problem

CANARSIE/LA,
So you deleted your C:\Program Files\iPod\bin folder and stopped the iPodService manually and you still get this error message?
Get a log file and send it to the Apple engineers.
Open a commnd prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
3. Type in a space, then the following line:
/l*v C:\log.txt
4. Hit return.
5. The installer will create a log file:
C:\log.txt
You need to send that file to our buddy Roy. Make sure that you include:
(1) the log file.
(2) the link to this thread
(3) a one line description of your problem, i.e. "iTunes won't install because it's complaining about older iPod software".
(4) the username that you're using here in the discussion boards.
Roy is getting a little swamped with messages and needs to make sure he gets all the information. And if he doesn't get this informaiton, the message is just going to get dropped on the floor.

I have had this issue for MONTHS now and I have (no overexaggerating) looked up on this entire discussion board, looked at microsofts discussion board, called apple, and taken my computer to the Geek Squad at Best Buy and no one could help me.
I try to download iTunes versions 10 and higher and everytime it has the error message about Windows does not have the program needed to install, please contact your vendor. And I know I need the Windowns installer, but I cannot find it anywhere on the internet without getting a 404 error from where it's been removed. I really need a straight, direct answer. I have been having this issue since OCTOBER. I really want to have iTunes again and put music on my iTouch and iPhone.
I have Windows Vista, 64 bit.
Please, I've tried everything, and talked to everyone.

I try to download iTunes versions 10 and higher and everytime it has the error message about Windows does not have the program needed to install, please contact your vendor.
What's the precise text of the message please, alexis? There's a couple of different ones that I can think of on a 64-bit system that you might be getting.

  • ITunes unable to install? - Could not access network location %APPDATA%/.

Okay, I received a never used iPod Nano
(Model MC034LL ,Version 1.0. 2 PC, it looks like this http://www.iphonemag.ch/wp-content/uploa…
for Christmas this year, however; I'm having some trouble installing iTunes.
I have already downloaded iTunes, but installing seems to be the problem.
The 'iTunesSetup' icon appears on my desktop and I double-clicked it to begin the installing process.
When I do so, it says
"Gathering required information... Status: Computing Space Requirements"
after a few seconds it says, "Could not access network location %APPDATA%/."
As soon as I click 'retry' it says the same thing.
If I press cancel, the same message pops up and then it says,
    "iTunes Installer Completed
The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured.
Your system has not been modified To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again.
Click exit to finish the installer"
I tried the help page for iTunes, but noting seemed helpful.

With that particular variety of 1606 (it's a 1606 error message even though the 1606 error message number isn't returned by the iTunes installer), the following Microsoft document is worth a try:

  • Unable to install iTunes for 64-bit Windows 8

Hi guys, I'm having some problems right now, as I am unable to use my iPhone with iTunes. I get the error message; "This iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes."
I have been able to sync my iPhone fine since i upgraded to Windows 8, this problem MAY have arisen after i last updated iTunes, but I cannot be sure as i haven't synced my phone in a little while.
After uninstalling iTunes myself, i tried to download the 64-bit version for windows from the apple website, but upon opening the install .exe file, i was confronted with some sort of combatability error, which i was unable to solve.
I then tried to re-download it using the Apple Software updater on my computer, but it seems to have not installed the 64-bit version, which I find a tad strange!
Upon writing this, i tried to replicate the compatability error i experienced, so i downloaded the install file from the apple website again, but uninstalled iTunes using that install file rather than using add or remove programs. After I did this, i ran the install file again, and followed the steps- 'Success!' i thought to myself, but alas. Upon plugging in my phone, "This iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes." comes up again.
This is very annoying for me as I have some CDs that I'm itching to add to my iTunes library on my phone, and i am unable to update to iOS 6.1 OTA so i can only do it through tethering with iTunes!
    Can anybody help me?!
    I am running:
    Windows 8 Pro 64-bit (6.2, Build 9200)

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

I am trying to install it on my desktop.  I am also in Administrator mode.  My iTunes stopped working when I was notified that there was a new version of iTunes and would I like to download it. I said yes as always and it was unable to finish the update because of a

An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contace the application's suport team for more information.
My iTunes stopped working at this time.  I thought I could delete iTunes and start over. This tactic did not work.
Can anyone make sense of what I am saying and help me to get my iTunes back again?

Try a more recent version of my advice. The "for older video cards version" may work when the default version doesn't.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • I am unable to install the latest update to iTunes, I get constant error messages, even when I attempt to uninstall iTunes completely and start afresh, iTunes is still listed in my program files on my hard drive and the shortcut is still on my desktop!?

Is there a bug with the latest update to iTunes because I am unable to install it, I get constant error messages if I try to open it after installing

    Hey there Mambo822,
It sounds like you are unable to open iTunes after installing a recent update. I would recommend the troubleshooting in the following article:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • Itunes 64 bit on windows 7 is unable to install, i have the 64 bit installer version but it keeps saying "errors occurred" at the ( rolling back ) phase. HELP!

itunes 64 bit on windows 7 is unable to install, i have the 64 bit installer version but it keeps saying "errors occurred" at the ( rolling back ) phase. HELP!!!

I have the answer and this might be useful for any one else wondering about this in the future. If it helped you or explained what you wanted to know. Replay to the post pls
It's quite easy actually. First have your "iTunes Library Extras", "iTunes Library Genius", "iTunes Library", and "iTunes Music Library" backed up. Download ans install iTunes 64-bit. I don't know what's so 64-bit about iTunes 64 since Win7 reports it as a 32-bit application in the task manager. But anyway. Install iTunes 64 and launch it. If you migrated your library to another drive like me go to settings in iTunes and change the directory to your location. Close iTunes. Replace the newly created files with your backed up files. Launch iTunes. iTunes will load and then update your library and from there you are set to go! so basically it is just like a normal upgrade. But if you hesitated to go from 32 to 64 like me, here is your answer.
By the way. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit with iTunes 64-bit and it works without problems and syncing with my iPod Touch also works flawlessly.

So i manually downloaded the itunes 10.5.3.3 and tried installing but I was not able to install. I get an error saying the apple software update has stopped working. Hello. No message shown. The downloading does not complete at all, I tried like 20 times but no one worked. The closest I was to downloaded it, was with 66 mb (the new version has 66.1)  As stated on the web page of apple I uninstalled itunes and all its accesories or common programs. Now I am unable to install the new version and I am more frustrating since I did it to sincronized it wit my new ipad!  In consequence, no message at all, the downloading simply stops at 49%, 67% or 99% :(
    Thank you for your time!!

  • HT1926 Have the same problem as many other users: tried to update iTunes on Windows 7 today; first message "unable to locate component- MSVCR80.dll was not found" then "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes - Error 7 (Windows error 1

I have the same problem as many other users: updated iTunes on Windows 7 on Jan 26, 2014 and iTunes does not open.  First message "unable to locate component- MSVCR80.dll was not found" then "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes - Error 7 (Windows error 126)". When will Apple fix this? Don’t feel like uninstalling all Apple software and then re-installing it as suggested, as I am on a terribly slow internet connection while travelling in the DR Congo.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Unable to install Itunes 10.1 or 10.1.1 and have it sucesfully install the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. It keeps coming up with an error that the driver is unsigned or disappears completely from device manager.
I have tried full uninstall including cleaning registry keys and file system. If I uninstall and re-install 9.2.1 usb driver works perfectly and I have no issues synching with phone or seeing the phone in Itunes.
I have tried repair installs, updating the drivers by pointing to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
I have tried removing all USB devices and having them reinstall from Windows after a reboot. Nothing seems to work.
I just got a new IPAD and cannot use it because I cannot install 10.1 at least to have it connect. It came with IOS 4.2.1 on it.

I also encountered the same problem.
and yes, I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes 10.1.1 bla bla blahhh....
Same issue!!! itunes cannot open cuz the mobile device support not started etc..
but when reinstalled prior itunes version 9.2 its gone
    and issue fixed.
    i can sync my 3G.
but not my 4G. it says you need to upgrade to 10.1 or above
spending the whole night to fix the problem which never occured b4
i finally find out one thing.
pl keep in mind im not a computer exprt
i tried this and it worked, i don know what fixed it, bt it works
try this at your own risk. some comp genius will tell us weather this way is right or not.
    ok. lets start...
in your desktop make a new folder. name it Kmh_\CoreFP
try uninstalling the newer version 10.1
only the itunes not other mobile div suprt, application suprt etc.
    dont mind the following order:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
    and reinstall itunes 9.2
    go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
you wil find a folder named "CoreFP"
copy it and paste to Kmh_\CoreFP
    uninstall itunes 9.2
    and reinstall itunes 10.1 again
    go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
you wil find folder named "CoreFP"
find the difference in properties comparing the one u stored in Kmh_\CoreFP
ok delete it and replace it with the one we stored stored in Kmh_\CoreFP
restart the computer and start itunes now
    what happens?
    best of luck.
    -Kmhm63
    reinstall the newer version 10.1
I would suggest that you revert back to prior working version until Apple comes out with an update that fixes what 10.1.1 broke.
