Itunes unable to locate zeppelin remote speakers

We have just purchased a wireless zeppelin speaker and my itunes is unable to locate devices, I have followed instructions within preferences set up - how do I access devices menu to add a new device?

The exclamation marks (and the accompanying note) inidicate the files aren't located where iTunes expects them to be.
This most often happens when the files have been deleted or moved to a different location than where iTunes expects them to be.
If the files are still on your computer but have been moved, the best solution is to get them back where they were in the first place. iTunes will be able to find them again - happy ending.
It can also happen if the files have been renamed in which case changing the name back to what it was in the first place is the way to go.
Sometimes though, it seems iTunes loses track of files for no apparent reason. In that case, other than telling iTunes where they are on a one by one basis, your only other option is to start with a new iTunes library. Regrettably, this method will lose your playlists and related information (Ratings, Play Counts, Dates Last Played, etc.).
If that's not a deal-breaker for you, delete the current entries in your Library by highlighting them - iTunes Edit menu > Select All - and then right-clicking > Delete . You are removing the entries from your Library but keeping the files themselves in your iTunes Music folder, or wheresoever they happen to be stored.
You can then add them back into your Library by selecting the iTunes Music folder in Windows Explorer and dragging it into the Library entry in the iTunes Source List (left-hand column). Reference this article in the Apple Knowledge Base.

  • Itunes (MAc & Windows) shows no remote speakers using AIrport Express

I have both a Win XP PC and a Powerbook G4 connected to a wireless network using a D-Link DI-624 router. Both computer can connect to the internet, the Powerbook is connected wirelessly.
I've set-up my airport express on the wireless network using a static IP adress, and it gives me a solid green light. Airport Express firmware is 6.3 and it is configured as a client on the network.
I can not access the remote speakers on iTunes on either the Mac or the PC. Both computers have the "Search for remote speakers" checked in iTunes. I've tried everything, including re-booting etc. but with no luck.
Does any one have any ideas? Could a port in the D-Link router be blocking access, since both computers are unable to see the remote speakers?

Problem solved.. The unit wasn't getting the correct IP adress. I re-configured using DHCP and it worked.

  • ITunes can't connect to remote speakers PLUS Airport Express p/word problem

I am running iTunes 7.4.1 and have previously been able to play iTunes through remote speakers via an Airport Express . After upgrading iTunes some time ago, I am unable to connect to the AE any more. The AE shows as an option in my iTunes window, but when I select it from the drop down option box bottom right, it just doesn't choose it.
I have read other discussions pertaining to this, and have followed all of those solutions, but to no avail.
I have done a hard reset on the AE restoring it's factory settings thinking I should just start again, and it has been renamed "Base Station Oa369f" so I know this has worked, but when I try to reconfigure it through Airport Utility, it asks for a password. I tried it's old password, and also tried the generic one "public" as stated in the AE setup guide, but it rejects both.
I am keen to figure this out as I'm about to buy a new printer and another AE so I can print wirelessly, but don't want to have the same issues if it's an AE bug that can't be fixed, I would be left with no printer!
I know this is two quite separate problems, but if anyone has any ideas for either I would be really grateful.
    Thanks very much

I have exactly the same problem which has been driving me nuts for the last couple of days. However I am able to access the dropdown list of speakers. I have mine set to multiple speakers, and now it WILL play through my Airport Express again, but only when playing through the internal speakers at the same time. When I try to play solely through the Airport Express it just hangs.
Come on Apple, you need to be regression testing your upgrades far better than this, for something so basic to go wrong.

  • ITunes error when connecting to remote speakers

I recently downloaded the new version of iTunes, 8.0.1. I am now unable to connect to my remote speakers via the Airport Express base station and get an error message each attempt.
The error reads, "An error occurred while connecting to the remote speakers. An unknown error occurred (-3256)."
I've power cycled the base station, checked all the wires, and secretly hoped Apple would release an update that fixes the issue. So far nothing.
Anyone know how to fix this? I'm stumped.
    thanks...

I have the same problem since downloading the update. I'm running 3 Airport Express base stations around the house, all connected to different speaker systems. What's really weird is that one works no problem and the other two give me this -3256 error message when I try to connect. I've done all the usual resets but to no avail. I'd hoped that the latest update may have solved this problem.
Sorry that I can't offer a fix, but if you have any luck I'd be grateful to hear.

  • ITunes doesn't connect to remote speakers on my Airport Express?!?

Can you help me solve this technical issue? I have a Linksys wireless router with another device as a wireless repeater (to extend my wireless network). On the other end of this wireless network is my AirPort Express with the AirTunes enabled.
I can ping my AirPort Express from my iMac. But, my iTunes is not successful connecting to the speakers. Can you suggest some remedies for this? Thanks in advance.
    James

Thank you for the quick suggestions. Here are the facts:
    1) iTunes host are on the same network subnet as the AX. I can see both of them on my router. The iMac which the iTunes is running can ping the AX. In fact, the remote speaker is listed in the popup window that shows the built-in Speaker as "Computer" and the name of the AirTune on the AX.
    2) No firewalls between the host and the AX...as far as I know or can tell, all ports are opened within the home network.
    3) The AirPort Utility can see the AX and let's me update the configuration without any problem.
    4) OS X Firewall on my iMac is set to Allow all incoming connections
Again, I'm stucked and confused because my iMac can find the AX thru the AirPort Utility as well as from the iTunes by listing the AX's speaker in the Remote Speakers list.
Why then it cannot connect to it to play music is very big mystery...help! I really like to play music in my backyard.

  • Itunes no longer shows my remote speakers

Since loading leapard my remote speaker option in itunes has gone. Airport utility now longer shows my two airport express base stations which I use for streaming my music. Only my AEBS shows in the utility. Can anyone offer advice please.

    Hi,
I have the same problem but managed to solve a small part of it, namely the AEX not showing in Airport Utility. If you join your Mac via ethernet cable to the AEX it will be seen in the Airport Utility and can be configured.
Unfortunately - at least in my case - iTunes still does not recognise the remote speakers after the procedure.
    Cheers,
    Ruth

  • Lost 3GB of memory after Syncing with itunes, unable to locate/delete them?

This morning, I did the regular syncing with Itunes, and suddenly I noticed that my Free memory had suddenly dropped from 9.7 to 6.7 Gb
I also noticed while syncing that my iphone is syncing song titles that already exist on my iphone and itunes again for some reason.
after syncing,my free Memory dropped from 9.7 GB to 6.7GB and my OTHER memory went up from 1.36 to 4.36 for some reason.while Music, photos and APP memory stayed the same.
keep in mind the new added 3 GB are exactly the same total memory of my music.
I usually have a total of 14.28 GB out of 16 GB 3GS
    music: 3GB
    photos 146.9MB
    APP:876MB
    Others 1.36 GB

    Music: 3 GB
    APP:876MB
    photos 146.9 MB
    Others 4.36 GB
    Free 6.7 GB
I checked to see if I have duplicates titles of my music in my ipod, and everything was the same.no duplictaes
I am unable to locate the additional 3GB I have under Others in my memory.
Is there a way to break down the memory Status Other in order to see what are the new 3 GB added to my phone?
HOw can I free my phone from the new 3Gb data?
Hoe to locate or delete the new data? any application that can break it down in order to locate the folder with the new data either in itunes or on my iphone?
I tried resorting but I still got the new memory status since I had synced my iphone several times trying to resolve the issue.
any help on this issue is highly appreciated

  • Using apple remote with iTunes 9 and airport express/remote speakers

    Hi,
Does anyone know why the apple remote will control the hardware volume for the speakers on my mac, but when playing via the airport express connected to remote speakers why doesn't it control the volume slider in iTunes?
This would be really useful as at present I need the apple remote to control track selection and play/pause, but another remote to control volume.
If it isn't possible now, can Apple please add it to the pile of suggestions for the next version build of iTunes?
    Many thanks

  • ITunes not connecting to AirTunes remote speakers after upgrade to 7.6.1

    Hi
I've just noticed that iTunes is refusing to connect to my AirPort Express. Or rather, it's ignoring me when I ask it to connect; it's as if I didn't select the remote speakers at all. It is displaying them in the remote speakers menu, and allowing me even to bring up the "multiple speakers" option, but won't respond to me selecting them). It's only started doing this since the update to 7.6.1.
The problem is not with the AirPort unit; my partner's MacBook running 10.5.2 and iTunes 7.6 will connect to it happily (thankfully she hasn't updated to 7.6.1 yet).
Any suggestions? Has anyone else experienced this? Or is this simply a bug I need to report to the good people at Apple?
    Thanks in advance.

Not working here either on v7.6.1.
Doesn't always find Airtunes speakers, works for a bit, then playback hangs at 0:00.
Quitting and restarting iTunes seems to get it (temporarily) working again.
Also, the iTunes volume control is broken - it plays at 100% volume regardless of volume setting and regardless of whether the "Disable iTunes volume control for remote speakers" option is checked.
All in all, a very poor release.

  • ITunes can not connect to remote speakers after upgrades

I recently downloaded the new version of iTunes and I am no longer able to connect to my remote speakers. I get a random error message when trying to connect. I've rebooted the airport station and modem. Didn't solve the problem.
    Can anyone help? I'm stumped...

I have a MacBook, airport express and appletv. All three were working with airtunes on itunes 7 without issue. Since itunes 8, airport express works great, but the itunes keeps reporting that my appletv speakers are no longer available.
Problem will occur on sleep/wakeup and whenever itunes decides it is angry, even though my appletv is listed on the bar and is syncing. Sometimes it will play for about 10 seconds and then the music stops, but itunes indicates it is still playing. Pause/play will sometimes resolve the issue, but other times will report the appletv speakers have disappeared, but itunes is still listing the apple tv. Rebooting appletv makes no difference.
Workaround has been to restart itunes. For the music stopping after 10 seconds, if restarting itunes results in the same problem, reboot computer. My firewall is disabled, so my opinion .
Also - I love the remote app on my touch, but when play fails due to a speaker error there is no feedback. Instead I get no music and after a delay the icon changes from pause to play again. Of course itunes was complaining about unavailable speakers. Someone should add some intelligence to report such errors to the remote.

  • ITunes unable to locate music files saved on external drive

    Hi all,
This is proabably something incredibly simple but my iTunes was installed on to my laptop wih music added till my memory was all used up.
So I bought an external drive, and re-added all my music saving it to the external drive, my iTunes however remained installed directly on my laptop.
This worked fine initially as long as my external drive was selected in the Preferences section of my Itunes, but recently all my albums are available but it says that Itunes is unable to locate the files, even though none of them have been lost or deleted from the external drive.
Ive tried everything I can think of - does anyone know how to rectify this?
    Thanks....

I switched computers and tried to reload all my backed up itunes files. It loaded the files fine the first time. After I logged off the files disappeared from my Itunes. Apple tech told me to add itunes folder to library. It worked fine until i logged off again. I tried it several times because my files never stayed on itunes. Finnaly I added two new CD's into my library and I went to file Libray and I entered consolidated Library. This brought everything I had before and then some to my itunes library. I logged off, shutdown and even hibernated and my files still remain. I was able to create playlist, my movies, podcast, there all there. Hope this helps.

  • ITunes Unable to Locate Music File

I have a few hundred songs in iTunes that have been loaded over the years. Their source is CD's and iTunes. Tonight on an airplane, I was listening and noticed that I had red circles with red squares inside of them next to song titles. When I selected these, they were not available. This happened more and more as i selected different songs, eventually I was left with just a handful of songs. Immediately when I got home, I snyched to my computer and it said that there were items unable to synch because iTunes was unable to locate the original file. (it did restore a few but still over 100+ missing files). The titles are still listed.
However, I am unable to play any song in itunes on my computer. Just on my iPhone. When i ask it to loacte it directs me to a catroot file from 2009???
I have not added or removfed songs in weeks and it has been working fine (iPhone and computer) for months.Any help in finding these files or restoring them would be appreciated.

Use the iTunes command File > Add Folder to Library, and navigate to the folder containing the music.

  • ITunes on  iMac cannot find remote speakers, but iTunes on MacBook can!!!

I have a home wireless network provided by a third party ADSL modem, and an Airport Express connected to a stereo system. My MacBook has no problem playing iTunes music remotely through the AE/stereo system. The WEIRD thing is that my iMac Intel Core Duo is not able to establish a connection to the same AE/stereo system - even though the MacBook and iMac are located at almost the same spot, they are running the same version of OSX and iTunes (all my software is up to date on both computers), and both have no problems connecting to the internet through the wireless network.
What could be wrong with my iMac, or with iTunes on the iMac?
iMac Intel Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I have the same problem. I have two Airport Express units. The base is connected to the Cable/Modem for internet use. I have a Bose surround sound system also plugged into that Express unit. The other Express was used for extending the range for my old Titanium Laptop that recently bit the dust. (Waiting for Leopard before I leap;)
I was able to use iTunes music from my iMac by selecting the "speakers" I wanted. Either Express, I tried them both. I was quite successful in this remote streaming of my music library for a couple weeks. However, in the past 5 days I can not select the "speakers", they are no longer recognized by iTunes. I made sure the iTune preference to scan for wireless systems was checked. It was.
The next option was to try to reconfigure using the program Airport Admin Utility. The AAU does not even find either Express unit. I did a factory reset on "extra" Express unit and connected it by my Ethernet LAN. Then the Express is detected.
One would think that my iMac or Express did not function as a wireless system. However, I am sending this message from my iMac, through the base Express that is connected to the internet. That function thankfully does work.
Can it be a corrupted Airport Admin Utility? I tried to find a download on the Apple site to no avail. I tried to find it on my Tiger install CD's.
    Any ideas?

  • ITunes timeouts when connecting to remote speakers?

When trying to connect to a remote set of speakers (Airport Express/Airtunes), iTunes times out. The set of speakers shows in the menu, iTunes attempts to connect for some time, and then "gives up" - there is no error message. Any suggestions?
iTunes 7.0.2, Airport Express firmware 6.3.
    Thanks.

At times, instead of the time out, I get the following error message:
The remote speaker "Test" is not compatible with this version of iTunes
This happens even though iTunes and the Airport Express are up to the latest versions, respectively.
    Thanks.

  • Itunes will not connect to remote speakers attached to Airport Express

I have just bought an AX for the specific purpose of streaming music to a new mini hi fi.
I have added AX to my existing wireless network without problem. Firmware updated. Latest itunes and OS.
Itunes sees the speakers attached to AX but will not connect. I keep getting "An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker......An unknown error occurred (-15000).
I have updated all software, reset AX and started all over again. I have given the speakers a password.
I also try and connect using my iphone 3GS - latest software. It also sees the speakers. I get no error message but nothing plays.
Help please. I have set this up as a gift for friends and I am leaving tomorrow.

    try the following:
    1) Open System Preferences
    2) Open Network pane
    3) Select Airport in the left list
    4) Click the Advanced button
    5) Go to the TCP/IP tab
    6) Set the "Configure IPv6" field to Off.
    7) Click "OK"
    8) Click "Apply"
    9) Let iTunes connect to your AirTunes speakers
