ITunes unable to read half of a CDr

Hey Everyone,
I've come across a problem today which I would value your advice on. I have purchased some official music CDR's from an independent music shop and have been doing for many years with no problems. However, the last two I purchased have caused me some problems.
The first CDR will allow me to play the first four tracks in iTunes. I can also import these first four tracks to the library with no problems at all. The remaining three tracks, however, will not play even though iTunes acknowledges that they are there (track times correct etc.). They will also not import (imports one second of each track).
The second CDR again recognises all the tracks are there, but then sometimes the track will play and other times it will not.
If I try to copy the AIFF file from the CDR itself to the desktop, then I receive an error code -36 warning saying that the files cannot be read. On the First CDR those first four tracks that played and imported into iTunes successfully will copy from the CDR to the desktop.
The thing is if I play the CDR in my PS3 then all tracks on both CDRs play with no problems whatsoever. I suspect, and will test this tomorrow, that they will work on my PC at work too.
Has anyone experienced this and if so do you have any ideas what the problem is. I've done some research this evening and wondered could the CDRs have been burnt using a package that works better in Windows, but if this is the case, why does the first CDR allow me to listen to the first four tracks with no problems at all?
Any help gratefully appreciated

I have an intel iMac that has problems reading about a dozen of my purchased CDs. Some others in the forums have suggested that it may be caused by a slightly warped CD. I have noticed that slot loading CD drives on Macs tend to be more "picky" in reading CDs music or data than tray loading drives.
I have a CD that only the last track cannot be read by the iMac.
When this occurs I use my tray loading eMac to rip the CDs and it usually works and then manually import the tracks to the iMac and iTunes.
Rip the tracks using your PC and then transfer them back to your iMac.
Hope this helps

You need to associate your music files to iTunes instead of HP.
    Control Panel
    Programs
    Default Programs
    Set Associations
Double click on the relevant item and select iTunes from the list.

If it is a commercial video DVD, it cannot be ripped by iTunes (or any other legal program).
If it is a DVD containing MP3 files, open the DVD in Windows, and drag the files to your desktop.  Then remove the DVD from your computer, and add the files to iTunes the normal way.

  • Itunes doesn`t read half of my id3 tags

    Hi,
I am stuck with a problem with itunes.
In the music library, itunes only writes half of my tracks with the id3 tags. All of my songs are mp3s. Every single id3 tag of all my songs gets recognized in winamp, wmp, or in the windows file browser.
But Itunes doesn`t!!!! Even if I click on the songfile, and go on information, it shows my art cover, but not the id3 tag!!
About 6 months ago when I installed itunes, all my tracks did get recognized, but after (i guess) 2 months, half of my songs were unwritten.
I did several updates since then, but no changes.
Now with the new Version 7, I even deleted the database who stores all the information, created a new music library, still doesn`t recognize it.
Winamp - new library - recognizes every single id3 tag.
    Any Ideas??
Would need to update my ipod, but i don`t want to plug it in now, as it probably would **** up my library on the ipod.
If someone wants I can send you a mp3 file, which doesn`t get recognized, I just can`t find anything.
    Thanks
    Mario

It could be that the tags are corrupt or do not strictly follow the ID3 standard.
You might try an ID3 tag editor and convert the tags to an newer ID3 version. Maybe that'll fix any tag problems.

  • Itunes unable to read the Ipod

    Hi,
Itunes seems to have a problem with reading my Ipod. I have a 30GB Ipod Video, which I bought 4 months ago. When I connect my Ipod, 1 out of 3 times Itunes says that it can't read the Ipods' content. I have to reset the Ipod which means that I lose all the personalized playlists. This happened approximately 10x. Does anybody have an idea how to fix this? I really have tried everything; Re-installing Itunes, Ipod software, turning on auto-sync, turning off auto-sync. Nothing helps.....
    Thanks in advance,

  • Itunes 11.1.4.62 unable to read content and need to restore iphone. Please help !

Yesterday I had update itunes to 11.1.4.62, I try to sync my iphone 5(ios 7), it unable to  read the content from my device and ask me to restore. I don't want to restore while I not yet back up everything. Any helps ? Thanks.

Try a more recent version of my advice. The "for older video cards version" may work when the default version doesn't.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Unable to play half my music with itunes

Ever since this new version of itunes, i've been unable to play half my music in my library. The music is there, but when i try playing it nothing happens. The song doesn't start. i've tried re-adding a few songs to itunes, but those songs never reappeared in the library list. i've tried reinstalling itunes. I'm not sure what the problem is and its getting frustrating. Any help would be great.

Sounds like they might be MP3 files with corrupt headers. Run them through MP3 Validator to see what MP3 Val says about them.
    Longer explanation:
    http://trevinchow.com/blog/2008/09/17/fix-for-mp3-songs-not-playing-in-itunes/
It's an old webpage, but still valid today with itunes v10.
As to why this happened, data corruption on hard drives can be caused by many things, but the first to check is always power. Is your PC on a power surge protector?

If the page that you posted from doesn't help then you will need to try contacting iTunes support (you will need to give them as much of the serial number and activation code from the card as you can read) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then iTunes Cards And Codes

  • Disk Utility says: "Unable to read FAT (Input/output error)"

I have a Western Digital Passport external hard drive factory formatted as FAT32. It worked as advertised for over half a year before it suddenly stopped working and refuses to mount on the desktop (it is visible in /dev). No odd sounds and the disk or other problems, a different USB cable makes no difference.
The disk shows up as an empty disk in Windows 7 even though it is supposed to contain a small iTunes library. I have tried to repair the disk in Disk Utility in OS X 10.6.4. This is the latest attempt to repair the disk, copied from the log:
    2010-08-10 15:58:44 +0200: ** /dev/disk2s1 (NO WRITE)

    2010-08-10 15:58:44 +0200: Unable to read FAT (Input/output error)
Does anyone have any recommendation on repair/recovery applications? I own a copy of DIskWarrior already but DW is a HFS-olny repair app…

  • Unable to read from Jukebox Need Urgent he

Need help, fast, Only got and a half day left to get my Creative Zen Touch to work, I have tons of important files in it and I need it badly!I'v been using my Zen touch as a storage device like a USB or sumthin, newaiz, I just upgraded the firmware to .0.03, from .00.06 to .0.03 to be more detailed. I have read some other posts relating to this kind of matter, I tried the ... Disc Clean Up solution, downloading the latest software except those CD burners program, I uninstalled all of my Creative Programs and installed an older version of the program and still didnt work then I upgraded those program and still wont work. Went to read the FAQs, couldnt find any answers. Can anyone please give me a useful response? I need it badly Please be fully detailed, I am not very familiar with shortcut details. Thanks

Sorry this is not an answer but I just posted this on the European boards and it might make solving this problem a bit easier:
Player: Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 30GB
    Firmware: .20.08
    Explorer: 3.0.0
    Driver: .26.02
    OS: XP SP2 updated
    MB: MSI K8Neo Platinum (MS-7030) (AwardBIOS 6.00PG)
    Processor: AMD Athlon64 3200+
    Memory: GB Patriot 3200 DDR
Video: ATI Radeon 9600 Pro (DNA 3.4.4.) (Directx 9.0c)
    Sound: Audigy Gamer (03030 driver)
    HD: Maxtor 6Y60MO (60GB)
So I made the mistake of using my mp3 player as the sole backup device for 30 Gigs of my music. I used the motherboards included highspeed USB port by the way. So now that I have reformatted and reinstalled everything I try and copy it all back from the Data Library section of my player using Nomad Explorer and end up waiting a few minutes while the software decideds if it will freeze or not before ending up with an error of: "unable to read from jukebox device"
This is MOST DISTRESSING, I would really appreciate more help than the other 2 people who posted this problem got (read: none). So if anyone has any ideas besides reinstall nomad explorer (which I did) then I am all eyes.
Thank you for your time and help.

Maybe if you could post your system specs we could see a similarity or two, like what type of USB port did you use...Message Edited by kalisto_9 on 0-02-2005 0:08 PM
