ITunes Update 10.6.0.40 Won't Install

When attempting to update from iTunes 10.5.3.3 to 10.3.0.40 I get the error message:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable
When I click on BROWSE and select the iTunes.msi file (tried both the original download and using the "Download Only" option)
I get the message ...iTunes.msi is not a valid installation package for the product iTunes ...
Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix / get around it?

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS"   thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

I think figured out what is going on here... If you have set your Windows OS time manually, Apple iTunes will not honor the time you set in Windows XP...
In my case, I had not applied the Windows update that changes the Daylight savings rules. No big deal I thought... I can easily correct the time manually. Well... iTunes will not like it if you do that. You have to have your daylight savings rules set correctly on the PC. Microsoft has a free program called TZEdit that will let you adjust the DST boundaries.
Once I set the rules correctly and then set my time keeping back to "Automatic" it fixed it. Hope this helps...

Try quitting Pages on the iPad, restart the iPad -  and then see if the app works OK.
To quit Pages - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • HT200189 Why the VPN update for OS X server won't install?

    Hello
Why the VPN update for OS X server won't install. It says "VPN update for OS X server can't be installed on the disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update" Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Is OS X Server setup on your MBP as an actual Server running the Services or are you just using it so you can remotely manage another Mac running OS X Server services?

Note: the update will only install if you have already launched Server app and used it to set up services.

  • ITunes updates and Firefox 3.0 won't open up after installation...

I really hope someone can solve this thing...
I can't install iTunes updates (from 7.1.2 on) and Firefox 3.0, because they both present the same problem: after download and regular installation, when I click on the .app to open it up, the icon jumps two or three times in the dock, then it disappears and bye bye.
At this point there is just nothing i can do, if not uninstall the newer version using AppDelete and reinstall the last working version, that is Firefox 2.* and iTunes 7.1.1 ...
As you can see i'm on an iMac with OSX 10.4.11..
does someone have a clue what is the cause of this???

what is that "archive and Install"?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710
yes, i remember that i tried to log in with another account and the software worked...
Then the software is not the problem. The problem is something specific to your account. Performing an archive & install will unlikely work in this case as the reinstall will retain your user settings (I assume you do want to retain them at any rate) and that's where the problem is lurking
Is a crash report generated when the apps don't work? If no "Unexpectedly Quit" dialog window appears, check in Home > Library > Logs > CrashReporter to see if there are logs for iTunes/Firefox. If there are, can you post the text of the most recent crashes here?

  • After updating OS X Mavericks it won't install or shut down

I was on my MacBook Pro and it said that my OSX Mavericks needed to be updated and that the update need a restart. I clicked the update button and it brought me to a loading screen that said "Installing Software Update" but it's been installing for hours. The loading bar won't move and therefore the update won't install. Whenever I click anyone the buttons, including the manual off button, makes a sound and does nothing. It wasn't plugged in for hours and the status hasn't changed. Are there any combinations or ideas on how I can actually use my computer?

Hold the Power button pressed until your Mac turns off completely. Note that if you just press it your Mac will just go to sleep mode or only the display will turn off, so it is necessary to keep it pressed for about 10 seconds. Then, turn it on again

  • OSX 10.4 update to 10.4.3 - won't install

Hello, I'm a newbie trying to upgrade my G5 imac from 10.4 to the 10.4.3 download that I have, I had downloaded this a couple months ago and can't seem to figure out how to get it going. The Hard Drive has 233 GB/82.8 GB free but it won't install the upgrade it says I need 292 MB of space... I am unsure how to interpret this in English and am very appreciative of any assistance.

    jbmcnabb,
Why not download and install the most recent version of OS X? If you have a decent internet connection, just skip that troublesome update and use the Mac OS X 10.4.6 Combo for PPC, and Security Update 2006-003 Mac OS X 10.4.6 Client (PPC) to bring your OS up to date.
Software Installation Quick Assist will have additional helpful information.

  • After a itunes update my HDV mov files won't play on my mac.

I applied and update to my MacBook pro and BAM!! Now my HDV.mov files won't play with QuickTime or final cut pro. I'm in the middle of a project and I can't finish it because when the files play in fcp I get a error. Can anybody help me with this?

I have two anserws I think might work for you. The first one is: This solved the issue down loading and re-installing Quicktime 7.5.5
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/blog/posts/using_pacifist_to_downgrade_quicktime .html
I'd create a backup of the System / Components and Quicktime folders first though, just incase you need to revert back.
    and the 2nd one is:
I HAVE A FIX...AND IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!  Actually a friend found this fix somewhere else, but I just did it and it worked.  The only rub is you need to have access to another system that has not been updated to iTunes 10.5 or QT 7.7.
On the system that has not been updated, go to:
MAC HD/System/Library/Components and copy that folder to an external drive...next go to
MAC HD/System/Library/QuickTime and copy that folder to an external drive.
On the system that is not working, go to the same places on the MAC HD and delete those two folders.  Then copy the folders from your external drive to the same location.  Restart you system...i did it twice...and everything should be back to normal.  This has worked on both systems here that were previously jacked up.  If you do not have access to a system that was not messed up, let me know and maybe we can swap files.
I havent tried any of these yet because I'm in the middle of a project and I dont wnat anything to go wrong right now. After I'm done I will be sure to get started on one of these.
If you try any one of these let me know how it works out.

  • ITunes 10.5 64 bit version won't install on Windows 7 PC

After 5 hours, I still cannot download the 64 bit version of iTunes 10.5 on my Windows 7 computer.  Removed all anti-virus protection, uninstalled and reinstalled, rebooted, etc.  Nothing.  Seems to be a big problem.  Any thoughts?  Thanks.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • My Itunes was deleted and now it won't install again

I got a new Ipod 5 and updated the itunes i had, but it said it needed reinstalling. I tried this and didnt work, kept saying there was an error so I deleted all the itunes files and tried a again from stratch. I open it online and when i try to install it it says Internext explorer error (this is proberly becuase my laptop is from the dark ages and doesn't work very well). I tried to run the set up from my sisters profile and that says an earlier verson of itunes still exsitis and won't let me install that way either, even though the itunes has deleted from the whole laptop. Although my sister still has all her itunes files the itunes wont open on her profile.
So now I have no itunes, no music and an ipod with nothing on it.
I'm rubbish with computers so any help would be great!!
