ITunes update 11.1.3.8 to 11.1.4 for Windows 7, 64-bit

Question

I have a HP Pavillion DV6, Windows 7, SP1, 64-bit.  I am also administrator and the only one who uses my computer.
I recently tried to update iTunes to the 11.1.4 and it was unsuccessful and installing.  After that my old version of iTunes wouldn't come up.  It says: "Apple application support not found".  I have tried uninstalling iTunes and the apple application support, it now will no longer uninstall or install.  I went to http://support.microsoft.com/mats/program_install_and_uninstall/en and this was able to uninstall itunes, but not the apple application support.  i tried again to reinstall itunes, but it now won't install.  Now it thinks it's set policies to prevent the programs for itunes and apple application support from being installed or uninstalled.  Everytime I try something, the notices changes.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
