ITunes update 8.1 has removed all my music videos

Since upgrading to iTunes 8.1 all my (iTunes)music videos have dissappeared, the audio file remains but no video! I have just downloaded a new music video and it is also missing. The update included Front Row which I don't use could this be the problem? Any help appreciated!

Thanks for that. The answer was really quite simple! For some reason with iTunes 8.1 it is necessary to turn of Airport Express speakers in order to watch music videos on the computer: before the videos played normally (without audio through AE speakers).

  • HT4623 ios7 has removed ALL my music. Will not sync

Upgraded? to IOS7 and have now lost ALL my Music from my iPhone 4S.
It will not sync the selected music lists in my itunes library that was on the phone in IOS6!
    Help please?

I have just run into the same problem with my iphone 4s. The update has somehow added over 800 songs to my iphone that were never there to start with. It has strangely taken most of my husbands music choices (all in the same itunes program with my music) and added them to my phone.
I tried deleting them manually via the phone but it just wont let me. It just keeps flipping through the songs like it thinks I want to see whats available. The only way to stop it scrolling was to close down the music app.
I also tried deleting them via itunes and although itunes tells me (via the usage bar at the bottom of the screen) that I have no music on my iphone the music is all still there.
I am now also trying the system restore as I can't see any other way to fix it. Why is it always so hard with these phones??
I am looking forward to the end of this phone contract so that I can finally go get a Samsung. I'm over the eternal iphone problems and friends with other brand smartphones do not go through this much pain over and over again. It's just not worth it.

  • Since the Itunes update on Windows 8 yesterday all the music crackles. I've tried deleting the new version of itunes and reinstalling it, but the crackles are still there. Does anyone have a solution?

All music crackles on Windows 8 after Itunes update on 04 Jan 2015. Help!

There is an alternative downloader for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address the playback issues that some users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version (the alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer).  The "for older video cards" label appears to be something of a misnomer as some people have reported that this corrects problems found on current / high-spec systems.
Some users have reported that after installing this alternative version it is necessary to adjust the "Play audio using:" selection (normally to "Direct Sound" rather than "Windows Audio Session", though this may vary based on your audio hardware/drivers) in Edit > Preferences > Playback to restore glitch-free audio.

  • HT1386 Using Sync to copy a PDF to iBooks has removed all my music.  How do I copy it back?

After being told by Apple Care support that the only way to get a PDF onto my ipad was to use the Sync function, almost all of my music disappeared. It is still in the iTunes library on my PC and in the folder where it has always been.  When I try to use iTunes to copy it back to the iPad, iTunes says the file(s) can't be found and then promptly starts to play the file in question!  Ironically, the 3 files that remained on the iPad after the Sync were the only ones I've purchased from iTunes.  The 200 or so from other sources (CDs I'e owned for many years and files purchased directly from publishers) were removed and can't be added back. Is this normal?????  This is my first Apple device and at the moment, I'm not completely thrilled with it :-(

Why won't it sync? Are you getting any sort of error message during the sync process?  If so what is the exact wording of that error message?  If this the computer you normally sync the iPod with?

My computer failed and the main drive had to be formatted but all my music was on a separate internal hard drive. So I downloaded the latest iTunes , problem is it has found all my songs but seems to not recognize half of the album data, half of the artists, all of the dates and all ratings data.
I had a large part of it backed up on DVD's but it does not want to recognise them either?
    Any tips?

Follow these instructions to not lose any data. When you restore from backup as the article says the iPod will also be updated.

  • My iPod has deleted all its music (not synced to itunes)

    Hi,
I just updated to the new iTunes and my iPod has deleted all its content.
My iPod is not synced to my itunes or laptop, so I just manually put it on.
Has my music been lost? If so, can I get it back? Anyone know how it deleted by itself!? I was uploading music, ejected the device and when I went to play music there was nothing on it.
    Thanks

An iPod has a hard drive inside. Like a hard drive in a computer, it can have data corruption that cause files to be lost. It is really not wise to keep music and other media on the iPod without it being backed up on the computer. You can easily break or lose your iPod, or the iPod could have data issues like the one your experienced.
The cause may be a hardware problem. It can also be data only, which means using Restore on your iPod may make it work properly again. The only way to know is to use iTunes to Restore the iPod, which will erase the iPod and initialize the iPod's software.
Going forward, you should store your media on your computer and sync it to the iPod. Additionally, you should back up the valuable data (and not just iTunes data) on your computer.

  • After the last update of itunes I seem to have lost all my music (Cds that I had downloaded into itunes) except the once I had purchased from the itunes store. Can anyone help? Do you know what might have happened?

After the last update of itunes I seem to have lost all the music that I had downloaded from my Cds. It was a lot of music! All I still have is the music that I had purchased in the itunes store. And before you asked. No, I did not have a backup. Never got around to do it.
Does anyone of you have an idea if and how I can maybe get my music back?
Your help is very much appreciated. Would it help if I recover my computer from an earlier date?? I am not even sure if I make sense here.

Hi - I seem to have a similar problem. I was prompted to update to iPhoto 11 yesterday (don't know why yesterday, I'm in iPhoto all the time). So I followed the instructions, library updated, all existing events and albums are there. I uploaded some more pictures and created a few new albums and did some new year spring cleaning, moving stuff around etc. And I started making a calendar.
I've opened it up today, my calendar is still there as are all the new events, but the pictures are empty outlines. If I open up a picture I just get the "!" but I can still see the thumbnails showing in the slider in the bottom - I don't know if that means the source files must still be there somewhere, or if it just means it captured thumbnails yesterday.
I've gone into it via "show package contents" and there just don't seem to be any masters for an upload yesterday. I also just had a look in the last import folder, because of a comment from someone above. As I scrolled down through the folder the images were there and literally disappeared in front of me - by which I mean, the thumbnails were there as I scrolled down and then would turn into empty outlines...!
All my old folders are still there, thankfully (although they're of course the ones that are also all safely back up).
Although I have a timecapsule, my photo library is too big to keep on my hard drive, so I keep it on an external drive - so it only gets backed up when I do it manually (thanks Apple for that, I will never understand why it was designed to work - or not work - that way). So if the pictures have been lost then they are gone for good which is super-frustrating (I just got back from South Korea and was in the middle of sorting out all my shots from that trip).  It seems that this can only have happened because of the update - I should have known better than to have pressed yes.
If you have any ideas, I'd be most grateful!
    Regards
    R

  • When i plug my ipod in, it shows up on desktop as a hard drive, but wont show up on itunes. All my music/videos everything has been wiped off somehow, restored it and still wont work! Please help!

    - Have you tried the troubleshooting here:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - You can try disabling the camer notification
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1500
    - Do you have any camera, scanner or similar software installed?  That may prevent iTunes from seeing the iPod.

  • All of my itunes library has gone. My Music/video files are still there.

Can I put all of the tracks/videos on with the play count/playlists still there?
    Hi,
I have just turned on my computer, then itunes.
What I found was nothing. I store all my files on an external hard drive and wasn't connected when I first loaded it up.
I have tried loading up itunes with the hard drive and even my playlists and videos have gone.
How can I reload all the tracks without manually putting all my music, videos, photos and podcasts?
    Thanks

I had the same problem today, after spending DAYS updating the dates, genres, album art, and so on for over 13,000 songs. I noticed that the iTunes folder contained a bunch of files named Temp File 1.tmp, Temp File 2.tmp, etc. I renamed the iTunes Library.itl file to not_iTunes Library.itl, and then renamed the latest temp file of any size (i.e., 4 Mb rather than 4 Kb) to iTunes Library.itl. Then I launched iTunes. iTunes recreated the XML file, and everything I'd done up to the time the temp file was created was still there. The temp file had been created at the end of the day yesterday, so I didn't lose anything.
