Problem solved. The music was from Amazon MP3 store and I had to re-download it from the Amazon Cloud Player to my hard drive. It was there, but not even the Amazon Cloud Player software would play it from my PC, though it would from the Cloud. So after the re-download, I was able to add it to my iTunes Library.

How do i know if my itunes is compatible with windows 64 bit?

Did you download the 64-bit installer?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT) as you start iTunes, then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

  • Is iTunes 11 compatible with Windows's 8

Is iTunes 11 compatible with windows 8?

Thanks homeport1, that helped me to get it installed, although after I rebooted as prompted, Windows said the installation was corrupt and I had to Repair it. iTunes 11 is now installed and running but I can't save my Preferences. I have been through the menus and set them but when I click on OK, the dialogue box doesn't close. Nothing is highlighted to indicate I have made an error in any of the selections. It also flags some videos as new but not others, even though the ones flagged as new are some of the oldest in the library. It seems like there might be some bugs in this version where Windows 8 is concerned.

iTunes is not certified for use with Windows 8.
Some people have installed it and report that it works fine;  others are reporting problems of various kinds.  If you are of the early-adopter temperament, go for it.

  • Is itunes 10 compatible with Windows xp?

I've tried to download the new itunes 10 on my windows xp and halfway through it tells me that if I continue downloading that it could eventually ruin my system. What is going on?

I would recommend waiting. I have Windows XP and I made the unfortunately mistake of installing iTunes 10. Now until they post a fix for this I have no use for iTunes. It no longer recognizes that I have a device attached. I've tried unsuccessfully to uninstall and re-install but it hasn't helped. And, for reasons I don't understand when I try to re-install an older version of iTunes that worked perfectly before, now I can't even get it to open at all. Personally I wish I never heard of iTunes 10.

  • Is iTunes 11 compatible with Windows 10 Technical Preview?

    Hello.
I just installed Windows 10 Technical Preview and iTunes 11 on my PB, but now iTunes does not start up.
    Can anybody explain me why?
    kind regards,
    jolimans

iTunes is not officially supported on Windows 10, and will not be until the latter is released in the fall.  While Apple, like all other vendors of Windows software, will be working to ensure compatibility at that time, it is not possible to say whether any given version of iTunes will install, run, or operate correctly against a Tech Preview that may be unfinished and/or unstable.
That said, it is possible that more recent versions of iTunes may include some reworked code that's intended to be a component of Win 10 compatibility.  This may be stretching assumptions a little, but it may not be a coincidence that the last two releases of iTunes (12.1 and 12.1.1) have included full 64-bit applications and not just the "32-bit application with 64-bit installer" architecture of previous releases.  Have you tried the latest (12.1.1.4) release to see if that works better than 11?

  • Is itunes compatible with Windows XP?

When it was in the process of updating itunes, a message came up and said it might not be compatible with Windows XP. It strongly suggested I stop the update. So, I did. It also said that if I didn't it could damage my computer immediately or in the future. Is the latest itunes update compatible with Windows XP?

It is but with this version - Windows XP Sevice Pack 2 or later, 32 bit

  • Is there a version of iTunes that is compatible with Windows 8.1?

Is there a version of iTunes that is compatible with Windows 8.1?

Thanks! The procedure worked great for me (using iTunes 10), however there was one caveat. I also had to edit “AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi” with Orca and change the entry in “LaunchCondition” from
    VersionNT64>=600
    to
    VersionNT64>=501
in order for the Device Manager driver update procedure to work, and iTunes to recognize my iPhone4. Prior to doing this, only “digital still camera” was displayed in the “imaging” entry in Device Manger. Once I did the above, “Apple Mobile Device USB Driver” was listed, and the procedure worked as written.

  • Is iTunes 11.1.0 compatible with Windows XP Home Edition?

I am trying to update my iTunes to 11.1.0, but get a Windows error message that says it might not be compatible with Windows XP (Home Edition).  I've never had this problem updating iTunes before.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Has XP been updated to Service Pack 2? Right-click Computer on your desktop or in the start menu and click Properties. Visit Windows/Microsoft Update and install the service pack if needed, otherwise ignore the error and continue.

    Hellooo Apple Community!
I'm trying to install iTunes on my computer running Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm not sure if iTunes is compatible with my computer operating system because when I try to install it, it says the installation is completed but it says there was an error so it won't let me get itunes! Can someone please tell me if iTunes can be downloaded and installed on "Windows 7 Home Premium" and if so, how?! I need iTunes asap, I have an iphone 4 running ios 6.1.3. Please get back to mee!!
    Thankyou thankyou thankyou!
    Natalie.

I just tried running the Lenovo Hard Drive Quick Test both in normal mode and in safe mode.  Both times it indicated a failed read test on the HDD. The last two tests also failed.  I forget what those tests were called.
I am really beginning to think I have a bad HDD and the problem just happens to be in the reserved partition where my factory system software resides.

  • So apparently Itunes is not compatible with Windows 8.  Are you planning on fixing this problem any time in the near future?

    Hey kriscro2,
Thanks for the question. iTunes 11.1.4 is compatible with Windows 8, as outlined on the System Requirements page:

  • Is itunes compatible with windows 8.1

is itunes compatible with windows 8.1

Bull-pucky the latest version is compatible!  I have spent the better part of a great Sat. downloading versions all the way back to 10.7 even deleting the Library.itl   file and starting fresh.  I am running Windows 8.1 / 64-bit. . . . .went into ITunes Store today and all of a sudden NO WORDS OR DESCRIPTIONS APPEAR, ONLY PICTURES OF ALBUMS.  How's one supposed to purchase anything when you cannot see what you're clicking on?  ITunes has long had issues with Win 8.1 which I'm aware of, but THEY have done something from their end (possibly with this new $7.99 per month change coming)  I'm assuming if I had a Mac this wouldn't be a problem, but this just stinks!  I purchase a ton of music and have 16 published stations, do they not want my $$ any longer?  Not negative towards you, sorry - can you help?

  • Is itunes compatible with windows 8

Is itunes compatible with windows 8. I get 100% disk usage when downloading from itunes store.

I have the same issue when downloading from itunes store. 100% Disk utilization and only writing ~2.5MB. This is a Windows 8-8.1/iTunes issue. On which side? who knows... But i don't have this issue when writing to my main drive, this is not a drive issue as i tried it on many drives and even on RAID 0. I hope they get this fixed, this is driving me nuts. I have a 50Mbps x 5Mbps Internet conneciton and its bottlenecking me at 25Mbps. Lame!

  • Is iTunes compatible with Windows Data Execution Prevention?

Is Itunes compatible with Windows Data Execution Prevention?
Every time I open iTunes, the Data Execution Prevention Closes it Down. We Have Windows XP

I finally got it to work by making sure that I was running itunes as the "administrator".  Here's what I did: Right click on itunes......click on 'run as'.....click on "administrator", it'll ask for a password.  If you don't know it (like me) create a new account user called "Admin" with a password.  Everytime you want to use itunes do this.  I know it's a pain but so far so good.  Hope this helps.
