ITunes Update download freeze

Repeated attempts to download an iTunes update hang-up at 30.80mb of 35.95mb. Any solutions?

There's a couple of things you can try with that one.
(1) You could try doing the update using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple website:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
(2) You could try doing a "Run as Administrator" with your Apple Software Update.
Quit Apple Software Update first if you've got it open.
In Computer (or My Computer, on XP) open your C Drive or whichever drive you have your program files installed on.
If you've got a 32-bit Windows, open the "Program files" folder.
If you've got a 64-bit Windows, open the "Program files (x86)" folder.
Open the "Apple Software Update" folder.
Right-click on the "SoftwareUpdate.exe" file and select "Run as Administrator", as per the following screenshot:
Does ASU show you the iTunes update now?

  • OS X 10.5.4 Combo update download freeze up

I have been trying to download the latest OS from both Software Update as well as the Apple Downloads site, but have never been able to download any updates (including latest iTunes, Quicktime, etc.) any longer than about 25 minutes, then the download freezes. I don't have a firewall, am connected via dsl directly to internet, have no problems downloading from any other site, have restarted in safe mode, tried safari as well as firefox.
Any other ideas why? Thanks so much

The only thing that looked suspicious in Console was compatibility issues with Virtual PC, which I have since uninstalled & restarted. I've tried DLing separate updates, but thus far every DL has froze. Now I'm wondering what other compatibility issues I may have and whether that would affect DLs?
You did not answer my question about whether you can download anything that takes over 25 minutes?
I still suspect it's your ISP, not your computer. There is no timer in the computer. If you have sufficient HD space and RAM, there is nothing preventing you from downloading all day long. I have downloaded files that took hours, and sometimes stream programs for hours at a time.
Check with your ISP if they are "capping" your downloads. Some do and do not say anything about it. Comcast was recently caught "capping."

  • How to complete iTunes update download?

when I download a new update I get this message from iTunes:  Now that you’ve downloaded iTunes, you’re just a few steps away from starting a digital entertainment collection and enjoying it on your Mac, PC, iPod, iPhone, or iPad.  WHAT ARE THE FEW STEPS?  There are no buttons to push or places to go on the page.

That makes no sense... can you post a screen shot of what you are seeing?
We are talking about iTunes updates, correct?

  • Software Update download freezes every time...

Just bought my first iMac (intel i5) and it won't complete the Software Update of Mac OS X (2.06GB). After multiple failed attempts of downloading over WIFI, I've plugged in via ethernet. Download freezes every time.  Why?

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
    Any change?

  • Itunes update download file not saving

Previous to 5.1.1 iOS updates, iTunes (MAC) used to download the package update for given hardware (iPhone 3GS / 4 / etc) and keep that pacakge local on the machine for future updates.
I update many iPhones daily due to business.
iTunes would download the 5.1 package for iPhone 3GS or 4 etc, and i could conitnue to update as many phones's as needed without iTunes having to re-download the entire 700mb+ package over and over again.
Now, with 5.1.1, ever time i plug in a different phone that requires an update (even if same model) it re-downloads the 700mb+ update package each time before peforming the update.
I could not see any settings to say, keep the update package file local.  I assume its only storing in temporary files, then deleting after update is complete.
    VERY ANNOYING!!!
    Any ideas out there?

The files are in folders in your user account/Library/iTunes.  The folders are named iPhone Software Updates, iPad...etc.  When you connect a device, option+click on "Check for Update" and select the update file.  If you are using Lion (OS X 10.7.x) the user account/Library is not accessible thru iTunes.  Access the library folder from the Finder's Go menu.  Hold down the Option key for the library to appear in the Go menu. Then copy the update files to your desktop.  When you option+click check for updates, you'll be able to access the update files on your desktop.

  • ITunes updates downloaded but still appear in updates.

I am still receiving notice to update iTunes despite downloading a few times. How do I remove the update notice on Apps Store?

Thanks but I have. It's still there.

  • ITunes update downloads the full 58.4mb rather than that which has changed?

OK, as a new apple product person after purchasing the iPhone, a new Nano iPod (for the wife) and a iPod for the kids, why oh why does each rendition of the update to iTunes have to download the full set of programs including the Quicktime (which you can not seperate out of the update)?
Is this a common procedure in the Apple/Mac world? I was about to consider making the big "move" from PC to Apple/Mac because it seemed that they use more intelligence and user friendly options than Microsoft, but if this is what I am to expect maybe I should hold off on the "move"?
One more small thing: Why doesn't this forums' spell checker know what an iPod, iPhone, iTunes, iAnything is? Isn't this an Apple forum? haha
    Thanks

You are right, it does this on the Windows version.
This is not the case on the Mac version. It was fast. Either it was an incremental update, or it downloaded in the background before offering to update. I ampretty sure it was incremental.
You are on your own with the spell checker.

  • HT1926 iTunes update download stops at 7.80 MB and dosen't proceed. How can I fix this?

I'm stuck. when downloading the update, it goes as far as 7.80 MB and then after HOURS it is still 7.80 and not even a byte more. No pop-up window or error is shown and there's nothing wrong with my internet connection. where's the problem?

Doublechecking ... do you still get that issue if you try downloading an installer directly from the Apple website?

My iTunes playlist page on PC is frozen and I cannot connect to store for purchase.  I missed an iTunes update download this week and I don't know if this would fix a bug.  How can I recover this download to have the latest update.

It would be best to post this question under iTunes category. I am sure there are a few people having the same type of problem.

When downloading the latest version of itunes the download freezes everytime but not always at the same percent. I have tried selecting the download only option and still didnt work. Please help!

Do you have Windows XP Pro?
    see https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5840089?tstart=0
there is a stupid checkbox you must uncheck, saying "protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity"
You see this screen when you right-click on the ItunesSetup.exe in your Downloads folder.
downloads>ItunesSetup.exe  (right-click)>yourself as admin & UNCHECK THAT BOX!>  conntinue with new installation and even find your old playlists still  intact!!
This is apparently a Windows XP fix alone. MSVCR80.dll is (probably) reinstalled by Itunes under a partnership aggreement with Microsoft.
Using the Microsoft "Fix It" utility at http://support.microsoft.com/mats/program_install_and_uninstall/en does NOT fix anything. Abandon All Hope Ye Who Run This Utility More Than Once

  • HT1926 ITunes update failure

Hello, I've been using ITunes on our home desktop for 4-5yrs or more and ran into a problem yesterday from a routine ITunes update download.  The operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium.  A pop up message states that the download was unsuccessfull, that it's missing a .dll file (MSVCR80.dll).  ITunes will not launch now and I'm concerned about getting the program updated and going again.  I tried resetting Windows to a previous recent date (1/31) but it didn't fix the problem.  If I download the whole ITunes program from the Apple website, will I lose the library of music I've collected?   Do I have to uninstall the old before downloading the new?  Thank you.
    Uncertain in Fresno CA

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Macbook freezes with newest iTunes update

I have Macbook from late 2007 OS 10.5.8, and when I downloaded the newest update for iTunes 10.5.2, it installed succesfully. However, when I opened iTunes after the prompt of successful installation, it gives me an "Updating Library" load window. After completing about two-thirds of the library update, it freezes iTunes. I can't force quit, and if I try to get to the Finder to force the force quit, the whole machine freezes and I have to reboot. Should I dumb down the iTunes software so that my older laptop can handle it? Thanks for any advice.

  • Anyone having problems downloading new iTunes update?

After trying to download the new iTunes update received an error notice that said iTunes was not installed properly and I needed to re-install.
I cannot even access the iTunes program.

Hopefully you will be able to avoid upgrading, this freeze issue you're having might be a good thing if it means that os6 has failed to be installed. os6 is not looking good. I didn't read the reviews before I accepted the "up" grade. Now it seems it's too late. Hope you can get your answer and can use this stalled "up" grade to revert to os5!
