Itunes update stops keyboard

After upgrading to itunes 11.1.4 my keypad will not type.  When I press "w"  I get a new window in Safari.  Same if I type "i" and google information screen pops  up.   This upgrade has ruined the MacBook early 2008 Mac OS 10.7.5.  Heck, the keypad won't type in itunes when I try to search for a song.  What to do?   Thanks, Lee

Sounds like either your fn key is stuck or maybe Cmd, Ctrl or Otp.

    Hey jeight26,
When you uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, did you use this article?
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
If you haven't already done these steps, this section contains information that might help your situation, as the order and manner which you uninstall has an effect on the outcome:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!
    Sincerely,

  • ITunes update affecting keyboard?

Asked this in the MacBook Air community but thought I'd try for answers here too..
Got a new MBA today, turned it on and updated everything (iTunes 11.2.2) only to discover that the play/pause and skip keys don't work, and all the other are fine.
Spent an hour on chat with Apple and that seemed to fix the problem, re-installed iTunes and 20 mins after hanging up with them the issue comes back. Restarted the MBA twice and the buttons worked but then didn't.
I know this sounds like a keyboard problem but is it linked to the iTunes update?

    You are right!
So, I usually buy my music through Google Play instead of iTunes... At the same time as my iTunes update was happening, I was downloading music bought on Google Play. Google Play recommended I use the free 'Google Play Music for Chrome' which I thought I'd try.
So after reading your post just now and discovering that when my Chrome browser was closed it worked, I looked on my Google apps tab, found the new music player app, and removed it.
All seems to be working well now when the browser is open and hopefully will continue. Probably part of a competative scheme to make people unhappy with iTunes and switch over. If so...backfired.

  • Itunes update stopped and now can't open

I downloaded the latest version of itunes and whilst in the middle it stopped (not sure if this may have been my fault!!). Anyway itunes won't open. I've tried reinstalling and when i do so it doesn't work as it says i need to be logged in as an administrator which i am as i am the only user for my laptop.
real-time player still works fine though. I have also tried to uninstall itunes via control panel but it doesn't show as a program anymore.
    Can anybody help??
    Thanks

I don't know about a couple hundred -- that sounds excessive -- but we all get those Java repairs whenever repairing Permissions.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US
You might want to see if running Applejack will help. Be sure to do the underlined. Some of this will be redundant, since you've already done Permissions repair. But no harm.
    Download:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/applejack/
    Article on using:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10334620-263.html?tag=mfiredir
It runs in single user mode, where it runs more safely than other maintenance/cleaning programs because there is less chance of interference from the OS. After installing (you won't see it in the Applications Folder) hold CMD-S at startup. You will get a black screen with MS-DOS like text. Just follow the prompts: type in "applejack AUTO" and it will run through the following:
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
    Trash old Log files.
You can also run tasks selectively and for specific users by typing in "applejack." After running in "AUTO,"  you can go back and run it again as "applejack," steps 3 & 4 only, for your user.
The first reboot will take much longer than usual, as it rebuilds caches. It may take several restarts to see the benefits. Because of the deep cache cleaning in AUTO mode some applications may tell you they are being opened for the first time.

  • Installing iTunes updates stops iTunes from working in Windows 8.1

Last year after installing Windows 8.1 I had problems with iTunes ( couldn't burn to disc and could not uninstall after being advised by Apple Support that uninstalling was the solution), after assistance from the Windows community my problem was solved. I installed iTunes 12.1, I believe it was.
Then in early January 2015 I received  an update notification and installed it but again started getting error messages and could not run iTunes, error was  -
"ITunes.exe - entry Point not found"
The procedure entry point "ADadPolicyEngine_DidEnterStation" Could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\iTunes\iTunes.dll.
    Then the message
ITunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes
    Error 7 (Windows error 127)
Part of last years solution was the correct procedure to uninstall iTunes (remove all Apple programs) this I followed again and reinstalled iTunes. It again worked correctly until 30.1.15. I opened iTunes and was told there was  a newer version available which I installed which it completed ok but then it checked for any other updates and foolishly I installed it and got the error message -
GNSDK_MANAGER_DLL. is missing from your computer reinstall
After clicking ok I get the further message
ITunes was not installed correctly, reinstall
    Error 7 (Windows error 126)
Whilst I know how to uninstall and reinstall it is a bit of a pain to have to go through quite a long procedure to correct this problem. As this seems to be an ongoing problem does anyone know a solution ?
I believe the suggested update is the same (12.1) that I install from the iTunes site, so why does it tell me to update I ask .
It would appear that this problem relates to the update from iTunes and not Windows
Obviously not installing updates is an option but not the answer.
    Any advice will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Latest iTunes update stops downloading at 19.40MB

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • HT1689 I can reach the iTunes Store from my iPod Touch, but it will not open on my PC running Windows 7.  Message shows that iTunes has stopped working.  This happens every time.  I have updated iTunes Software.  Will not solve the problem.  What is wrong

I have uninstalled iTunes several times and reinstalled it on my PC running Window 7 with all updated loaded.  When I click on the iTunes Store Box, Nothing happens except for a message that reads:
              iTunes has stopped working.
The following items give me a choice, but no answer comes up.  The computer will shut down the website.
"Check online for a solution and close the program"
              "Close the program."
There is an item below the box that is selectable for View problem details.  When clicked a long list of items show up.  I have listed some of the problems as written, but I do not understand them.  I know the iTunes Store has been available on earlier versions of of iTunes but is not on this version.  How can we go back and download an earlier version of iTunes?
Here are some of the Problem Details:
         "Problem signature:  APPCRASH
         Application Name:     iTunes.exe
         Application Version:  11.0.1.12
         Application Timestamp:  50c8fc7e"

I had this exact same problem.  I found this fix and it worked for me.
    Step 1:
Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support and copy the filen named QTMovieWin.dll.
    Step 2:
Browse and past that file into C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Hope this helps you.  I wish I could remember where I saw this originally so I could thank them.
    Good Luck.
    Anthony

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:

  • Why do I continue to receive an iTunes has Stopped Working error after finally updating to 11.1.4?

Like many here it seems, in updating iTunes to 11.1.4 I received the Error 7 (windows error 126) error, as well as the MSVCR80.DLL is missing error. With help from this site, I managed to fully uninstall iTunes and then reinstall 11.1.4. The iTunes program will now open, but within 1-2 seconds it will crash with the error message "iTunes has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." This error happens every time the program is opened. I am using a 64-bit version of Windows 7. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can resolve it? I sure would love to be able to use my iTunes library again!

    did u fix it yet?
if u did can u help me cuz i havent use my itunes in like 3 days and its driving me crazy
