ITunes updates are "corrupt"???

I just installed Snow Leopard 10.6.3 (tried twice)....now my iTunes updates are corrupt. I want to load Mountain Lion but need the updates to do so. Help?!!

I've always been a bit queezy about doing an installation via target disk mode. Partly because as far as the installer knows, it is installing to an external hard drive of the Mac you are installing from, and not the machine that is actually target mode. This potentially could cause the wrong drivers to be installed. You may not see it until an update later on which you apply on the system, and when it happens, oops, you have an installation which doesn't work. Instead you should buy the Exchange program disks to run your installation. Those put Tiger on CD, as opposed to DVD. It is found here:

All apple software updates are corrupt

for some reason any updates I receive for my macbook pro through software update, itunes (for ipad, iphone), and even when I manually download them from the website (like 1.6.4 combo) are corrupt.
itunes + ipad with the new 3.2.2 update gives me error 14 with a link to this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275. Not helpful in this case.
As far as OSX updates 10.6.4 would constantly corrupt. As does successive other updates like the recent camera raw update and xcode update. I would blame the OS install and reformat except for some reason when I tried these updates at a friends house they work... really strange. I have also resorted to torrenting the update in the case of the 10.6.4 combo. I would really like this fixed but I am at a loss for what to do, and google hasnt turned up people in similar situations for me.
Could shaw (my Internet provider), my router, or... anything be screwing this up somehow?

Hi all!
While trying to update iTunes (either by Software Update menu or iTunes itself) it displays the following message:
Both Software Update and iTunes detects that there's an update available. Yet, the message above appears once I click on the Install button.
Any idea how to solve this?

What I'm not sure now is that the corrupted update data is still somewhere in my Mac or it was replaced by the new installation I did. (Yes, I'm the kind of person who needs to keep control over the computer things)
I don't believe so. I think the trouble with getting the updates is more at the Apple servers end of things with this particular issue. (Reports of this error message come in patterns which seem to suggest that.) So I think you should be okay.
... the acid test will be when the next iTunes update comes out. (It's been around two months since the last one, which seems an unnaturally long time between updates, already.)

There are more and better popup and ad blockers for Firefox, than for Safari.
I use GlimmerBlocker for Safari, and it does alright, but I have three AdBlockers for Firefox and I see no popups. The occasional page will warn that it can't load because of the ad blockers, but that just tells me it's a site I don't want or need to visit.

ITunes files are corrupted on my computer. I can't repair them. How do I fix this. Tried nearly everything in the help sections and made it worse!

I've tried to do the iTunes upgrade, but the iTunes.msi file was missing/ could not be found.
I've tried the fixes listed by people online, but it has just made it worse. The files are now corrupted and I cannot update/ repair/ uninstall, etc......

Apple provides a brain-dead simple way to backup all your personal data in the form of Time Machine that keeps incremental backups going back at least several weeks, if not months (depending on the size of the backup drive). Why more people don't use it is a puzzle to me. In this day and age of person, and very important, data being digitial (sometimes exclusively) backing everything up becomes imperative. Ideally a good backup scheme should incorporate multiple backup solutions in case of very serious emergencies, but for most people, and in the case described in the OP TM is a very good solution. If a file is deleted, then found to be needed again, just go to the date and time in TM just before the file was deleted and restore it. Simple. But it doesn't work if you aren't backing up. So... backup, backup, backup. You'll thank yourself that you did when you finally need it.

App updates are corrupt and won't download?

I can download music and movies just fine on my PC. When I try to download updates for my apps (about 14 updates pending), I get an error message telling me that "the file is corrupt and to go to "check for available purchases" again to download the update for each app needing an update. I get the same "corrupt" message when I try to download it again and again? How can I get these apps to update? What's going on?

Are you downloading them all? Try downloading just one.

Bigger files updates are corrupted or have checksum errors

Seems to happen only on big downloads, like the recent 10.8.3 update or a big iPhone app or even an iPhone/iPad update. I see comments that blame the router or sometimes the cable modem. I use a apple time capsule router in bridge mode and I have a Bright House networks Motorola lightning modem. Please help, every time a big update comes , I cringe cause I know it most likely will not download right.

I just started having this issue last month. The best way to test if you are having this issue is by downloading Unity http://unity3d.com/unity/download/download-mac. This file corrupts every single time for me now. I would like to know if anyone has a solution. I have a 2TB Time Capsule with a Motorolla modem for RR Lightning. I also have a new 2012 iMac 27". This wasn't a problem until recently.

Windows 8 - Itunes update has corrupted itunes file and wont work! HELP!

Hello .. Im really hoping someone can give me some advice or help with this as I have been trying for hours to try and fix!
I have been using itunes on my computer with no problem at all..
Last night I down loaded a new version of Itunes [itunes64setup] - my itunes has since decided not to work and my computer now keeps restarting itself!
I have tried to uninstall itunes completley and I get various messages - basically it gets so far and then crashes advising that it cannot uninstall!!
I have windows 8 on this system and wondering if it is a compatability issue!!
Im totally at a loss - any help would be greatly appreciated!!

ITunes update corrupt

The recent iTunes update is corrupt! do no install!!

I tried to install the latest version and had a problem with the install. It would not start one of the services and kept trying to. I tried installing thru apple updater and downloading my own copy, still no go. I restored my drive to a time before the attempted installation and ran a repair of the previous version that was installed. I won't be trying this again either! I hope the next version is better tested than this one.

This message now appears when I connect my ipod to itunes....

The ipod still works and charges, but it will no longer let me add new files to it. The contents of my ipod are still displayed as usual on itunes, so it obviously is reading it to some degree. It advises me to run a chkdsk utility, but I have no idea how to do this.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

If your iPod is corrupt then you have no choice but to restore it.
Before you do that, you may have some success getting the music off it and onto your hard drive again.

Yes phone will automatically backup to icloud when on wifi and phone is charge, but your phone storage was full so it stop backing up.

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.

From an OS9 reference, error -54 is a software lock on a file or a permissions error. (Although there is no formal list of OSX error code some of the old codes still apply to OSX .)
First, try simply restarting your computer.
Try quitting iTunes, then deleting the .xml (not .itl !) version of the library file in the iTunes folder (iTunes will generate a new one).
