ITunes Upgrade: Missing Songs

I catch podcasts with Juice which drops them in to iTunes and changes their Genre to Podcast.
I have a smart playlist for my podcasts and grabs all unrated songs with a genre of podcast.
Once I listen to an episode if I tag it with one star my smart playlist "Podcast - Delete" grabs it because it has the one star.
However, since the upgrade, those single starred items aren't showing up under my main "Library" thus I can't delete them. Any ideas on how I can view these songs/podcasts again? Why aren't they showing up in the Library?
[The reason I use Juice is because if I use Apple's Podcast tab, I can't give ratings to podcasts in my iPod so I have no way to mark which ones I want to save/delete/rate other than playcount = 1. Wish they'd bring back the ability to apply user ratings to podcasts like they used to have. Two steps forward and one step back with every new update.]

Now, with 16 songs with one star in my "Podcasts - Delete" smart playlist (defined as any song having a one star rating) four randomly finally showed up in my Library... so now I can handle them normally and delete them...
Where are the other 12 songs hiding? What's the secret to the missing missing files? Showing up only in the Smart Playlist but not the library...

  • ITunes is missing songs even though the file path hasn't changed.

My iTunes library is housed on a separate internal hard drive from my osx disk. I have iTunes set up so that it manages my library and copies files to its folder on my extra drive. Recently, and with increasing frequency, iTunes is displaying songs as missing (grey exclamation point) even though the files are still present in their respective folders. This has happened to about 700 songs already, so it's not exactly feasible for me to go through and re-select the path for each one. Is there a quick solution to this? Many thanks!

Same thing, and it's driving me crazy too! It only happens to my Podcast files though. I haven't done anything special to the file (other than maybe listent to it), but then sometimes the file will get the exclamation point. Then when I click on CTRL-I / Get Info, and it let's me find the file. When I look in the folders, I notice that iTunes has RENAMED the file! What's up?!

  • Album on iTunes Store missing songs.

A couple of years ago I lost my CD copy of Skinny Puppy's Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse. I recently got one of the songs from that album stuck in my head so I decided to track it down in the iTunes store. I found the album, but discovered that the album is missing almost half of the songs that should be on it.
    What's the deal with that?

There are a lot of different reasons that some songs from an album might not be available on the iTunes Store. A good way to let Apple know that something is missing and that there's demand for it to be available is to use the iTunes feedback page. It's at: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

  • After the itunes upgrade My songs sound mest up.

Yesterday i downloaded the new itunes 7 well after instalition my songs sounded weird mest up so i tried the songs on windows media player and the song worked fine. so I reinstalled, repiard, removed then installed it, and the same thang happend well, I know the audio files are ok but dont play right. But my movies play ok, but now the songs.
    Please help me.

    Hi,
I'd just like to add that I'm also experiencing this problem. I've been using itunes 6 on Windows XP, it was working fine. I upgraded to itunes 7, and now whenever I play any song, it sounds completely distorted - as if on an electric guitar.
I've tried the following, none of which have helped:
    - Rebooted
    - Reinstalled itunes
    - Uninstalled itunes. Uninstalled quicktime. Then reinstalled both.
    - Added a new file to the itunes library - it also played distorted.
    - Played the same file in windows media player - it played fine.
    - Checked itunes equalizer - it's switched off.
    - Checked volume settings - all fine.
    - Checked my itunes preferences - all playback options like 'sound enhancer' are off. (And switching them on doesn't help either.)
I haven't got a clue what else I can do. How can I fix this problem?

  • 4 of the songs on a recently purchased album do not appear on my computer. I bought the album on my phone, and all of the songs are accounted for there, but on my computer it shows as an incomplete album and ITunes wants me to buy the missing songs?

I recently purchased Slipknot's ".5: The Gray Chapter" on my phone via an ITunes gift card worth $15 dollars. The album did have some trouble downloading because of a bad signal, and a good number of songs "could not be downloaded at this time". To download the missing songs, I had to go into ITunes store>more>purchased>music>all songs and click download on the few that didn't. This fixed that problem, and now the entire album is on my phone, but when the album transferred over to my computer, 4 of the songs still did not appear.  Not only that, it says that they have not been purchased. The ITunes card I used only has a dollor left on it, so I know it registered the purchase. The 10th, 14th, 15th, and 16th tracks still have $1.29 next to them, and ITunes is showing the album as an incomplete.

We are having this same issue.  We have over 200 songs that are now missing and only our most recent ones show up in our ITunes library.  Fortunately we have one phone that still has all of our music still in tact. This phone is no longer one I will be using as I upgraded to the Iphone 6, and only the most recent purchased songs remain.  The rest are no where to be found and the iTunes store shows that I would need to re-purchase.  Not sure what to do as when I tried to sync my last phone, all the songs were gone.

  • When I downloaded the latest Itunes upgrade, it was unable to download and i now cannot access itunes at all. it reads erro 7 (Windows error 126) and states msvcr80.dll is missing

When I tried to download the latest itunes upgrade, the download failed.  Now I can't access itunes at all.  popup says "MSVCR80.dll missing" Error 7 (Windows error 126).  How can I fix this??

i try'ed down loading again, but still ITunes wont load! it says 'MSVCR80.dll'.  And where is my songs had purchesed?? it *****!

  • Suddenly missing songs in iTunes, though only a handful?

The songs were originally purchased through iTunes and are now missing from my iTunes library. They do, however, still exist on my iPod. When I try and open the file in iTunes, it tells me that the "original file cannot be found" and then asks if I want to look for it. I did move a library over from my PC awhile back, but some of the missing songs were downloaded from iTunes after that process, so I don't think there's a relationship.
I've also tried the "transfer purchases" from iPod option to no avail...

I'm having the same problem. I recently upgraded to iTunes 9 and at about the same time, upgraded to Windows 7 (64-bit). It's really weird. I'm missing random songs, some from artists that I still have other songs for, some where I purchased multiple songs on the same transation and 1-2 are missing and the others are still there.
I'm afraid to sync, the songs are still on the iTouch, but not in the library.

  • Upgraded to 3.1.3, now I am missing songs?

I recently upgraded to the 3.1.3 version of the software. It worked okay for a few days (after I figured out how to get the wifi working again) but then I downloaded a podcast directly onto the iTouch and when it was done I got a message saying the Library was being updated. Took a few minutes and when it was done, any song that I had ripped from a CD (about 800 songs), not bought directly from the Apple Store, was not showing up. However the amount of memory used hasn't gone down so I believe they must be there somewhere?
I'm traveling so I won't have a chance to re-sync with the iTunes on my laptop for a couple of weeks (and even when I can, I'm afraid I won't be able to as I will not have enough memory). Anything I can do in the meantime to get my songs back? If not, how can I resync if it is still using up all that memory?

Well, if you're on the road and away from your home computer, it probably wasn't a good idea to do an OS update. But that's behind you now, so to recover you'll have to try a few things.
1- Find a computer with iTunes (preferably the same version you normally use) and connect your Touch, but if you have your Touch set to start syncing automatically you'll need to stop the auto-sync before it starts, otherwise you'll have a lot more problems. I find the easiest way to prevent an auto-sync is to hole the Ctrl and Shift keys as you connect the Touch, and keep holding those keys until the Touch shows up in the iTunes Source column.
2- Once you get the Touch in view, select the "Manually manage music and video" option and then click the "Apply" button (lower-right corner).
3- Click on the small triangle to the left of your Touch to expand its contents. Select the Music category and see if you can find the missing songs (you probably can't, but might as well check).
4- Assuming you can't find the missing songs, look for a 3rd party software application that let's you extract your Touch's contents to the host computer. With any luck you'll be able to pull the missing songs off, but you may not be able to tell which songs are from CDs and which are not, so you may have to pull everything off. Ultimately the songs you extract from your Touch will have to be added to the host computer's iTunes library, then transferred back to your Touch (manually, not auto-sync).
    Good luck!

  • Apple update ruined my playlists, they are no longer on my ipod and playlist i didnt have are. how can I get mine back. And i am missing songs that appear in itunes but not on the ipod?

apple update erased my playlists, they are no longer showing on my iTunes. I am missing songs that do appear in iTunes and should be on the ipod but are not, and new playlists that I didn't have are now where mine should be. Any suggestions as to getting "MY" ipod back?

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If the songs are still on your ipod, make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes on your computer, connect and right click on it in the device list, then choose "transfer purchases" to copy all bought media and apps from your ipod to your computer.
If the songs are not on your computer and got deleted from your ipod as well, you can't get them back, unless you have a backup of your iTunes library as part of your computer backup.

Bought new iMac & moved (or thought I had) all of my music from the old PC to the new iMac. Have discovered several hundred songs are orphaned on old PC; I can "see" them with both machines turned on & iTunes open. "Missing" songs show in iMac itunes Shared folder. How do I move them all so I can then & retire the old PC?

From things you are saying, such as "shared folder" and having both machines on, it doesn't sound to me like you truly moved the whole iTunes collection.

do not confuse moving your whole folder and library with moving just media files as in

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

Try assigning Queen as the Album Artist on the compilations in iTunes on your computer.

  • When syncing my iTunes to my iPad from the laptop, I get a list of missing songs; they are in the library, but not in the music folder on my HD. In particular, I uploaded 3 CDs at the same time, all are in my library - but two are missing from the folder.

In particular, I uploaded 3 CDs at the same time, all are in my library, and all synced to the iPad - but the music from two of them are missing from the music folder. Questions are (a) where might they have gone? and (b) is there a way of "reverse loading" them back to my hard drive from the iPad? Thanks in advance!

    Hi dones49,
It sounds like your issue here is that iTunes can not find the files for some of the songs you have brought into it. This happens occasionally even if the songs have not been moved from the location that iTunes places them on import or purchase. When you try to use the song, iTunes prompts you to find the file, as you have seen.
To find the file, use the information in this article to navigate through the iTunes media folders -
Locate and organize your iTunes files
If you are still unable to locate the files, you may need to download them from the iTunes store again, or rip them from your CDs. See this article for assistance with downloading your past purchases -

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
