Itunes upgrade problem - here is everything i've done to date

have you seen anything on a fix for latest upgrade to itunes on windows xp?
i setup a new wireless network to access a usb drive wirelessly, my plan was to setup the new newtork and have my existing airport express connect to the new network. to access the new network i had to remove my exisitng airport network, software, etc. i couldn't get the network access to work properly so removed it and went back to my airport.
when i reinstalled the airport software after pulling the network that different work, it would not let me install the airport software because i had a later version of itunes running, so i deleted my working itunes. after installing airport's bundled software (qt, itunes, airport) i upgraded to the latest version of itunes and it doesn't work!
i have deleted itunes and installed earlier versions from filehippo.com but it must have changed some setting and the older versions would not work either. the program installed ok and starts ok but it doesn't play library or cd's, just the diamond not moving in the play satus bar.
since it wont play cd's or library i am assuming it is an internet access issue. i have been on the discussion board for days trying to fix along with many others.
i have also tried to restore to a point before this all happened and itunes still doesn't work.
norton has been disabled, removed, reinsatlled after itunes reinstall and still it doesn't work
any other suggestions? sorry for the rant

hi kid panda!

hmmmmm. are you currently sitting at itunes version 6.0.1.3, 6.0.0.18, 5.0.1.4, or 5.0.0.35? if so, check on this possibility (those versions are subject to the following problem, but don't give you a warning/alert message about it like itunes 6.0.2.23):
iTunes for Windows: Audio files do not play in iTunes 5 or 6

  • ITunes match problems already tried everything i could find

I didnt know there was an itunes match forum also so i am reposting my post here:
I was just on the.phone with apple support the last two hours but they could not help me so I was hoping I might be finding help here.
We got a new iPhone (5s) and two iPod touch ( 5 refurbished) and wanted them to be set up with iTunes Match. What happened Is when I access the music app on any of those 3 devices only a small fraction of music (244 instead of over 5000) show up. To add insult to the injury when I click on them they won't play! They also won't download. Interestingly the songs are the exact same ones on the three devices
We also have two iPads and a MacBook Pro which all are working fine.
I tried everything I could find and what apple suggested but nothing worked ( e.g. Turning on and off iTunes Match, restarting, resetting/ whipping the device)
It's just wired that the thee new devices show the same music and the old ones show the full library. I even signed out off my account on my old ipad and when I signed in everything was accessible.
    Thank you for any help!

everytime I try to open it, all my computer does is pretend like it's loading but then does nothing.
Can you check something for me please?
Restart your PC. after the PC restarts, bring up your Task manager, and go to the "Processes" tab. Click "Image name" to sort the processes alphabetically.
    Now try to launch iTunes.
Does an itunes.exe process appear? If so, does it vanish after a second or so, or does it persist in the Processes tab (even though iTunes itself never shows up)?

  • Yosemite or itunes upgrade problem

Since upgrading to yosemite and iTunes 12.0.1..26 on an early 2011 macbook pro it no longer recognizes my iPod nano 6th generation. I have tried shutting them both down and restarting, resetting the iPod but no luck.  It does recognize my iPhone 5 and an older iPod shuffle. What do I do now??

I've already downloaded it once via iTunes itself and, a second time, via the iTunes website. For some reason, however, iTunes hasn't updated from being version 9.1.
With that one, I'd check on the *Opening iTunes* section at the bottom of the following document:

I have tried to upgrade itunes to v11.1.4 today and a once perfect system on my Windows 7 laptop is now total  rubbish, anyone else experience this?  I have gone back to an old restore point to get any joy but even that is corrupt, for instance playlists are only visible when the radio button is pressed, if the playlist button is pressed then it crashes.

  • No upgrade problems here

I installed iOS 4 on my 3Gs today and it's working beautifully.
Thanks for the free upgrade Apple!
(From what I've read over the years, every single time software is upgraded there is a small percentage of problems, and a small percentage of people who erroneously think that because they had problems that everyone does and that therefore Apple is horrible)

Hold finger on app until they wiggle. Drop one app unto another. You will then have opportunity to change folder name. Tap on x to remove current name and type one of your choice. Return to screen and other apps to folder.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT1926 ITunes upgrade problem

The iTunes update did not install properly. Now I am unable to use iTunes on that computer at all.  This is where my library is stored.
I have read that I shoud remove anything ITunes from my computer.
I am reluctant to remove iTunes from my computer as I have a huge library. Can I be assured this will be safe?

    Hi PammieAdelaide,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has steps you can take for the issue you're seeing:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
For the step in the above article regarding uninstalling, this article is linked:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
This article has the following information that may help:
iTunes Store purchases or songs imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default and aren't deleted by removing iTunes. While it's highly unlikely that you'll lose any contents of your iTunes Library when following these steps, it's always a good idea to ensure that your iTunes library is backed up. If you're unsure how to backup, follow these steps.

  • Problems after itunes upgrade.

I recently upgraded itunes to the current version on two of my windows/xp pc's.
On the first one I didn't have any problems.
On the second one, after the pc rebooted, all of the personal settings for the administrator account that was used to do the upgrade were gone, and the itunes library for the account was gone.
After some looking around on the pc, I found that the path for My Documents for the account had been changed from C:\Documents and Settings\account_name\My Documents to C:\Document and Settings\TEST\My Documents.
Everything under the original path for the account is still there, so all I need to do is get the My Documents path pointed back to where it originally was, but when I try to do this, I get a message saying that the path I am trying to point to is not authorized.
Does anyone know why the itunes upgrade would have changed the My Documents path? And does anyone know how I can change it back to where it should be pointing to?

    Good news
I had no problems updating my ipod and iphone to iOS4. But all I wanted was the folder option, I knew that my 3G does not support multitasking due to the slower CPU and build in memory.
Here's a little help to decide about your update, in case you haven't see this yet.
    Enjoy your ipod.
    Compatibility
The iOS 4 Software Update works with the second- and third-generation iPod touch. Not all features are compatible with all devices.
Not all features are compatible with all devices. For example, multitasking, custom wallpaper, and Bluetooth keyboard support are available only with iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and the third-generation iPod touch (32GB and 64GB models from late 2009).
Multitasking is available with apps that have been developed to work with iOS 4.
Books are available on the iBookstore. Title availability is subject to change.
Faces works only with iPhoto on the Mac.

  • New problem after Itunes upgrade.  Help!

I did the upgrade to 5.0.1.4 and am having a problem that I don't see duplicated here.
I had no problems with the installation and Itunes starts just fine but when I update podcasts Itunes intermittently hangs up. The key word is intermittently. When I pull up windows task manager it shows Itunes "not responding". It will stay in that state for about 40 seconds and then run for 5 seconds. It will just cycle through this until the update is complete. A long process.
I've tried some of the suggestions I've seen in posts; reverting back to older versions, disabling spyware and virus checkers. It now has the same problem no matter what I do.
Can someone give me some advice on what I should do?
    Thanks, - Michael

    Michael,
This almost sounds like a firewall issue. You don't have any problems with hanging during other types of downloads in iTunes (such as downloading the free song), you don't have problems downloading in other applications like IE? You have the latest virus definition files for your firewall?

  • ITunes Upgrade: tried everything, new twist

I've read and followed every piece of advice in this forum regarding this upgrade. I uninstalled everything, cleaned the registry, deleted directories, ran the Windows Installer Cleaner. I've installed iTunes & QuickTime (v7.04) separately. Here's where I stand: iTunes opens and runs smoothly when I'm offline. Whether on the T1 at work, or my satellite or dialup at home, if I start iTunes while connected, it appears in the Task Manager, but never opens. This is making me nuts. I have a lot of music that I've paid for and now can't listen to. There has to be a fix for this. Pardon my frustration, but this just seems ridiculous. Any suggestions out there? Thanks in advance.

    Katrina: thanks for responding.
Podcasts check is set to 'manual'. That's the closest to 'off' I can see in the pulldown.
I still get iTunes when offline. Connected, I get the 'opened in task manager but not on the desktop' hang.
    Any other thoughts?
Oh, I also can't end the task in the task manager. It simply won't let me.

  • Is it just me, or do most of the upgrade problems (not bugs) happen when updating "over-the-air", rather than using a computer and iTunes ?

I have used iTunes on a computer every time, and so far have had no problems like the ones we are seeing here.
Just want to reiterate - I am not talking about iOS 7 bugs - but just performing the update(s)

Absolutely!!  I've had no problems upgrading the iPhone using iTunes.  It also allows me to backup the iPhone's settings so I can recover them if something goes wrong in the upgrade process.  I have always upgraded using iTunes and would not do it any other way.
My wife upgraded to iOS6 directly to her iPhone 4S and lost her contacts and other information, and had problems with wifi access, etc.  At the next iOS change, I did the upgrade on her phone through iTunes and had no problem.
Even MacWorld reports that upgrading "over the air" directly on the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch can create instability in the OS.

  • My iPad says that she is busy and is unable to accept my request even when everything is closed and nothing is being used. What might be the problem here?

My iPad says that she is busy and is unable to accept my request even when everything is closed and nothing is being used. What might be the problem here?  3 times my iPad has crashed while nothing was open or running and a small loading wheel would be moving signifying that the thing was loading something without permission.  Even when the dang thing was on my personal wireless service that I pay for.

similar to what is happening to me....the difference is, after restoring itunes detect ipod and ask to restore again and again....
I know it may look kinda stupid but: just leave the ipod there for about 2 minutes, that's about the time my itunes is taking to detect my ipod...if it doesn't work, try connecting ur ipod to other computer with itunes (no need to sync, just to check if itunes will recognize) to check if the problem is with the ipod or with the itunes and/or computer.

I have a new laptop so I download again iTunes...the problem here is that I just got a cd and I tried to put it on my iPod and it won't let me, how can I fix this?

The iPod sees the new computer as a new iTunes library. You can only sync with one iTunes library.  However, you can manage music among disfferent computers.  See:

My wife had an iPad for a year and synced to our computer with no problem.  I recently received an ipad2 and when I tried to sync using separate apple and iTunes passwords, under her computer user name, it appears I over-road her account and synced all her apps with my apps on my iPad.  I then set myself up as a new user on our computer and tried to sync.  I now get the error that my iPad is synced to another library.  How can I start over without erasing all my data on the iPad?

Go back to her login.  Unless you deliberately erased apps, they should all be there, both yours and hers!  Then, you need to set up each iPad separately.  You will notice that they have separate names for that very purpose.
There is no problem with multiple Apple IDs on the same iTunes on the same computer except...  Apps are permanently associated with the ID that was originally used to obtain them.  If you choose to update an app from inside iTunes and you're logged into the "wrong" ID, you must log out and back in again.
On the bright side, you can configure either or both iPads to sync with apps and music and movies, etc. from either or both IDs.  Further, if you choose to update the apps from the iPads themselves, there is no need to log out/in.  The device handles that.  All you need is the correct password.  In my case, I use the same password for both IDs to make things easier.
