Itunes upgrade window stopping me buying Tracks!

Someone please help, this is doing my head in. When I try to buy a track, i keep getting prompted to upgrade to latest itunes which i can't do cause my mac model is too early, and i can't bypass this, or opt not to do it, or purchase tracks as i can't get pass the upgrade page. Please help!!!

iTunes 7.5, the latest version, supports Mac OS X 10.3.9, which should run on your eMac just fine since it's already on some version of 10.3, so just update your OS if necessary and then update to the latest version of iTunes. You should also make sure you're on the latest version of QuickTime, for which a version for 10.3 also exists.

  • Installing iTunes made windows stop recognizing my iPod

*Short version:* the USB driver included in Apple Mobile Device Support with the latest version of iTunes did not work. Deleting them made my iPod work.
    *Long Version:*
I had an iPod Mini (4gb, past warranty) that recently had a harddisk failure, so I bought a new Nano. I uninstalled itunes, removed all related files and folders, downloaded itunes 7.5 and installed it, and plugged in the Nano. Error message: "Your hardware failed to install properly." ITunes did not see the ipod.
I spent a couple hours going through the apple.com troubleshooting suggestions, which did not work. Device Manager had the yellow exclamation point icon by "Apple iPod USB Driver" no matter what I did. Eventually, I decided to purge my computer of all Apple products, delete all copies of usbaapl.sys (the nonfunctioning driver) from my computer, and plug in the Nano without installing itunes. It worked! So I installed itunes, rebooted, plugged the Nano back in, and... it didn't work.
So, installing itunes made windows stop recognizing my ipod. At this point I decided that itunes might be using a bad copy of the driver, so I deleted all copies of usbaapl.sys from my computer and tried again. It asked for the install disk for "Apple mobile device" something, so I used Add/Remove Programs to uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support. After that, it's working.
So, I spent three hours troubleshooting because the drivers packaged with the latest version of itunes don't work. Spiffy.

Had the same problem and I uninstalled all apple products (itunes Apple mobile support, etc.), deleted all usbaapl.sys files, and reinstalled latest version of itunes + quicktime. I had the same problem. I then unplugged my IPOD from the USB connection, put it in disk mode, and then plugged the IPOD back into the USB connection and EVERYTHING WORKED!!
The following article describes how to put an IPOD into disk mode:

  • ITunes upgrade bonjour stops

Ok so I have this problem every time iTunes upgrades.
    Running windows 7 64bit
I have iTunes running perfect, streaming to 5 devices on V10.3.1
I upgraded recently to 10.7 and bonjour stopped working. I could not get any devices found. Went Into services to stop and restart but got an error. I thnk it was 1067.  No matter what I did I could not resolve the issue. All I could do was downgrade back to 10.3.1 and hey presto everything works again.
I have just tried V11 and get exactly the same problems. As ios6 needs v10.7 or later ths is causing no end of problems.
I have read all the posts relating to this issue and nothing posted works.  I knw I am not alone with this problem
Sort it out Apple this is an ongoing problem with many users

Had the very same issue. Found out that it has something to do with Java Runtime not being installed (or being installed multiple times which was not the case for me). Downloaded and installed latest JRE from Oracle, now Bonjour starts normally.

  • ITunes upgrade Windows XP won't install - missing iTunes.msi during final remove of old version

Upgrading to current version of iTunes on Windows XP Pro
Install fails duringn final step which is uninstall of old version, can't find iTunes.msi
There are several of these on my system, tried pointoing at each directory for different attempts.  All same result,
    says can't find it
What can I do to get around this issue?

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • ITunes for windows stopped - playing videos

    This is driving me nuts
Windows 7 Pro 64Bit system with 16GB of memory on a Core i7
Have not seen problems like this much in the past.
Have uninstalled quicktime and iTunes then reinstalled, to no change - the only one that's been fairly consistent is if I perform the 'repair' on Bonjour app
I downloaded both of the programs from the internet first - so latest and greatest version
I went through changing the settings on QuickTime as some have suggested as well as deleting the \users\appData\itunes folders for both user and roaming
The last thing i see is 'connecting to apple store' - then it crashes with just that message and no detail.
I even tried moving ALL the .DLL files to the one program files folder as mentioned elsewhere.

    Hello Appropriator,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The following article outlines further suggestions for troubleshooting video playback. While you have already completed one of the steps, there are a few more that you can try:
Troubleshooting iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7 video playback performance issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1718
    Additional Information
Some customers using computers containing NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA (SATA) controllers may experience unexpected behavior when playing videos in iTunes on Windows from a SATA hard drive. iTunes may unexpectedly quit or become unresponsive or the computer may unexpectedly reboot or show a blue screen. Standard IDE hard disks are unaffected by this issue. If your computer contains a standard IDE hard disk, you can copy your video files to that disk and play those copies of the files in iTunes or QuickTime Player.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • ITunes 11 is stopping midway through tracks.

I upgraded from Vista(x32) to Win7(x64) finally.  My music is all ripped from CD and stored on a separate hdd (D:).  I was running iTunes 11 on Vista prior to this.
To keep all ratings, playcounts, podcasts, etc., I copied over the iTunes database files.  This worked great, all my music and subscribtions came through.
The problem is now when I go to play music, iTunes randomly stops producing audio.  The play/pause button still indicates that it's playing, but the time indicator is not incrementing.  I can't hit pause/play to get it going again.  I'm actually not sure how audio starts coming out.  I usually have to change albums and come back.  Then it will start up again.
The stop point is not the same every time, i.e. 30s into the track.  And it's different tracks that it stops on each time.  Some albums will play all the way through, some not.
    Possible problems:
Bad tracks.  Probably not, as it's not consistently failing on the same track at the same point.
HDD sleeping.  Is this an issue?  Separate disk, but at 20min sleep, iTunes won't buffer that much audio before going back for more.  Plus this will occur within a minute of starting.  Not totally ruling this out, but not seeing it either.  Vista was set to sleep the disks, and if it was asleep, when iTunes started playing the audio would pause while the disk spun up.  And then play again.
HDD about to die?  Possible, that's what I'm looking into now, but the disk has been working flawlessly until this upgrade.
My only other thought is to move the audio to the same disk as Win7 is on, but this was never a problem with Vista.
Anybody else run into this problem?  Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Any ideas?
I did a complete CLEAN reinstall of ML last night and I've still got the same issue which would lead me to believe it's something with my tracks, except that they've always displayed fine in previous version of iTunes.

I upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 8 with iTunes installed. Now my iPhone 4S is no longer recognized in iTunes. Connecting the iPhone with USB sends me directly to the MS app that downloads pictures from the iPhone. Suggest this is a question of missing Apple driver for Windows 8, iTunes and iPhone. MS does not care! This seems to be a general problem with Windows 8 that a number of drivers that used to work with Windows 7 now do not work, ie. iPhone to iTunes, HTC to HTCSync, Samsung to Kies etc. I need this connection to work in order to syncronize with Outlook and my iTunes library.

Maybe it would have been a better idea to confirm that iTunes is supported in Windows 8 before buying a computer with that Operating System.
There will be a new version of iTunes released this month... no one forced you to upgrade prior to a supported version of iTunes being released.

  • ITunes and QuickTime stopped working after an upgrade...

I have been pulling my hair out trying to get my iTunes working again. Here is what I have done already in order:
    1. Does not work regardless of user (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302856)
    2. Tried running with changes to MSCONFIG
    - Ran according to Apple Support Web Site (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538)
    - Ran in Diagnostics mode
    - Ran in /SAFEMODE
    3. Uninstalled and removed from any reference from registry
    4. Removed iTunes configuration files (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302386)
    5. Installed WinInspector Spy and launched iTunes to see what happened. Unfortunately I have not figured out how to copy and paste the log, but it shows the iTunes window class being created, a bunch of other stuff, then the OfficeWatson class, stuff and then the infamous "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close" message. After hitting the Send Error Report, I see the OfficeWatson window being destroyed and that is it. This leads me to believe that the problem is somehow with the outlook integration between iTunes and Windows? So I looked in my Add/Remove programs and sure enough Office and Outlook were upgraded the day after the last time i was able to use iTunes. So I tried uninstalling Office, iTunes and QuickTime. QuickTime refused to uninstalled claiming a fatal error. I then forcably removed it as described in the apple knowledge paper. Another interesting point, when I ran QuickTime, nothing happens, not even a crash message. When I run QuickTime Preferences from the system tray, the dialog shows, but when I click on the FileTypes tab, I get a RUNDLL error: "An exception occurred while trying to run "Shell32.dll, Control_RunDLL "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\QuickTime.cpl".
I also tried running StraceNtX.exe against it, but it doesnt create the right environment for iTunes (it thinks it is Windows 2000 and does have the right service pack).
PLEASE can someone help? This is the second time this has happened to me. The first time was on another computer that came with a "real" restore point (not the stupid one Windows has that does not work) and I solved it by simply restoring back in time. This time I do not have that option!
ARGH - I really do not want to have to use Media Player.

It sounds as though things have got pretty screwed up. If you couldn't clean things up properly with the MS installer cleaup, there is thread on cleaning up uninstall information in the registry.

I am not sure that I have anything more to offer as you appear to have done most things. Have you tried turning off all security software while doing the install, and doing the MSconfig thing with just Quicktime. Presumably your system is free of malware?
As a matter of interst, what happens if you have the task manager running when you start Quicktime, does it start and then stop, or keep running or not start at all?
A few people seem to have these intractable problems and the forum expert on this has been away since christmas, but you could try searching the forum for "b noir" posts about install/launch problems.

  • I Cant download iTunes 7.0.1 OR buy any music until i upgrade. help me!!

when i try to download iTunes 7.0.1 off this website i type my email and then it goes to the thank you page. it says it has been sucessfully downloaded but every time i open my itunes it stays the same. i am not sure what version i have right now but until i upgrade i can't buy music! I have tried to download it about 10-15 times with three different e-mail addresses and it still hasnt worked!
    PLEASE! any ideas will help
I have tried restarting my computer but it didnt work.
    Desktop   Windows XP

    UPDATE/EDIT FROM PREVIOUS POST:
Ok. The new 7.0.18 does repair the volume slider audio issue. HOWEVER, Simply installing the new update (at least for me) did **NOT** fix the problem. After posting my previous post, I tried to remove Quicktime and iTunes completely and try reinstalling.
It turns out that when I uninstalled Quicktime from Add/Remove Programs, it didn't remove all the Quicktime files and it was not reinstalling Quicktime afterwards!!
I only noticed when I downloaded the standalone version of Quicktime and tried running it and it said a "newer version" was on my computer, though it did not show up on my Add/Remove Programs file listing.
So I looked in the usual places and found that I had a Quicktime folder remaining in the Program Files folder and one in the C:\Windows\system32 folder. I also had to manually remove the following files from the C:\Windows\system32 folder:
    Quicktime.qts, QuickTimeMusicalInstruments.qtx, the Quicktime.Resources folder, QuicktimeVR.qtx and the QuickTimeVR.Resources folder.
The main problem is that iTunes didn't let me know there was an issue with the QuickTime installation. It just wouldn't run iTunes. There should have been a notification.
Anyway, after all this, I reinstalled iTunes fresh and checked the volume slider and LO' And Behold! The volume slider issue was repaired.
However, there is a LOT of skipping occurring that never happened before. Not sure what's up with that. CPU usage stays low and then I get a few skips per minute...UNACCEPTABLE!!! That didn't happen before and that issue will still need to be fixed. Until then, back to WinAmp. Thx a LOT Apple...you *#^@ing hosers!

  • Can't Upgrade and can't remove itunes on Windows 7 64 bit.

I transferred itunes from one windows 7 32 bit machine to a windows 7 64 bit machine. All worked fine till I tried to upgrade itunes. It will not upgrade, saying that this version of itunes is intended for a 32 bit machine. I have tried to use the 64 bit version of the itunes upgrade but still get the same problem report. I can not remove the itunes on the machine because I get the same trouble report.

Can someone please respond to my request for support?  I tried the provided correct answer at https://discussions.apple.com/message/11561783#11561783  but it did not work.
I also got a MSFT tech support person to remotely look at my machine, for what its worth, he said the registry file is fine and to contact Apple support.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

  • Lost all Playlists in MAC iTunes AFTER Upgrading Windows iTunes to v.10.7 (via Parallels) - HELP!

I HAVE iTUNES v 10.6x installed on my Macbook Pro - been using for quite awhile without issues.  All Updates to iTunes have gone just fine.  I also use Parallels Desktop with Windows XP Pro installed on it and within that Windows installation on this Mac, I have installed many software programs -- all okay for over 3 years - no real issues.  I also have installed iTunes in the Windows, but never really used the Preferences of iTunes to use its Advanced settings to change the location of the Library to the same location of the Mac's iTunes -- the Library is on an external HD.  The use of iTunes in Windows was never really used because I never had the right location of the Library set in Preferences.
About 5 days ago, while in Windows XP, I got an Apple Software Upgrade Notice that a new version of iTunes was available for download -- Version 10.7.  Not thinking about it then, I told myself that when I finished upgrading inside Windows that I would exit Windows and while in Macbook Pro's OS X 10.5.8, i just knew there would be an Apple Software Update Notice to also update my Mac's iTunes to version 10.7 also.  That's what I planned to do while still in Windows. While installing the update to version 10.7 within Windows, I thought I'd try to set the proper location for the Library file using iTunes' Preferences and Advance Tab.  I finished the upgrade to 10.7, went into Preferences and Advanced Tab and did just that and set the correct location on the external harddisk then tried to play songs using my Windows XP's upgraded iTunes.  IT WORKED JUST FINE.
I now exited from Windows and went back to straight Macbook Pro OS X 10.5.8 and tried to check for this upgrade for iTunes from 10.6x to 10.7 by going to the Apple Website and downloaded this from there.  When I then attempted to install the downloaded 10.7 (to replace/update my 10.6x) it would not install because my OS X 10.5.8 is not useable for the new 10.7.  Okay, I'd just use my tried and true version 10.6x.  WRONG!!!!!
When I attempted to open my iTunes on the Mac, it would open, but all my normal screen views were gone -- NO PLAYLISTS WHATSOEVER.  The Music folder (the Library?) was fine but all songs had the infamous "!" MARK next to each and every song -- not playable.  So, remembering the Library location setting in Preferences was the way to "reset" iTunes so the Library would be recognized and useable, I went into Preferences and reset the Library to the proper and same location as it always had been (and, where I had just previously set the Windows' iTunes to).  Now the "!" marks were gone and each song in the Music Folder played just fine.  BUT, NO PLAYLISTS WHATSOEVER.  ALL MY ORGANIZATION EFFORTS FOR YEARS WAS GONE!!!
My thoughts are that the Windows iTunes upgrade to 10.7 changed some key iTunes files common to both operating systems on the Macbook Pro, Parallels Desktop, and Windows XP installation -- some Windows iTunes program files are kept and store in the same default location as the Mac's and on the internal hard drive of the Mac.
Because, in further researching this problem, I found that the "iTUNES LIBRARY.itl" file located on the Mac's hard drive had, in fact, been changed by the Windows iTunes upgrade to 10.7!!!!!!  THOSE CHANGES "CORRUPTED" THIS FILE TO USE IN THE MAC iTUNES PROGRAM AND THE PLAYLISTS ARE GONE.  I also use this software in this effort:  PARALLELS DESKTOP VER 7.X, FULLY UPDATED WINDOWS XP PRO, FULLY UPDATE AS MUCH AS APPLE HAS PROVIDED TO MY OS X 10.5.8 (I CAN'T UPGRADE TO LION), AND OF COURSE iTUNES 10.6x.
THEREFORE, WHAT EXACTLY SHOULD/COULD I DO TO GET THE PLAYLISTS BACK INTO MY MAC OS X 10.5.8 iTUNES?  I DON'T CARE TO USE THE WINDOWS iTUNES ANYMORE -- I'LL JUST STAY WITH MY MAC'S.  PLEASE HELP!!!  THANK YOU.
