ITunes User Error

I set up an iTune account on my work computer, all went smooth. Then I set up an iTune account on my home computer which went equally smooth.
The rub. At home the first set of songs I downloaded from CD I used the AAC format then decided I would rather use the MP3 format. I deleted the folders on the Windows side but the songs still showed up in iTunes account. So I tried to delete each track but they still appeared in multiple iTunes playlists. So in frustration I deleted some of the system smart playlists like 90's Music, Recently Played, Recently Downloaded... I know bonehead move..... I have never hooked up my home account to my iPod....
Is there an easy way to get the folders back? other than removing the iTunes program and reinstalling it (which might not really be that bad). I also didn't want multiple formats of the same songs.
Thanks in advance!

What's the origin of this external drive? It sounds very much like it's a Windows-formatted (NTFS) drive which Macs can't write to. If you can, copy the files off the drive, reformat it as Mac format (using Disk Utility) and copy the files back. If you need to continue writing to it from a Windows PC, you should format it ExFAT in Disk Utility.

  • I get this error message when trying to start Itunes - "Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe  R6034 Anapplication has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.  I have tried to have iTunes re-install and correct.

I have tried to have iTunes re-install but still get the error.

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?
If you still have the same error messages cropping up, then try the procedures from the following user tip:

  • Itunes, 1606 error;

Hi. My thinking, feeling is that, maybe, there's something up, with/in - C:\Documents and Settings, C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService or C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService; I mean there's the All users and Compaq Owner, but per Sun Java's recent error: 2753 - regutils.dll, iTune's error: 1606 - cannot locate local network location, and CA (Computer Associate's antivirus/antispyware) Internet Suite - error 9035 unable to store license key (which I may add is good for me - until 2010), thus, can not complete install. I already ran Windows Install cleanup, and uh, no, this has nothing to do with Norton as I don't have any fully installed Norton program on my pc/computer. Can any of you kindly look over/review the following "Belarc" computer profile, and (maybe) determine a possible course of action I may take, as I just want to be able to
    a) Re-install iTunes/Quicktime/Bonjour/Apple updater, (as I want to get back to listening to iTunes radio's jazz section - The Grooveyard, my sole favorite).
    b) installer Sun Java's 6.13 and 6.14 version (update's), which I need clearly for more reason's than one.
    c) and get CA (Computer Associate's antivirus/antispyware) Internet Suite reinstalled back on my pc/computer (which I can do), via email link to download, as right now I'm in risk, as to not having any 'protection', and Time Warner Cable (my net service is going to refer me to CA anyway).

Many thanks. If we're looking at a "naked" Error 7, I'd start with box two in the following user tip:

  • System Restore to previous iTunes version caused "New iTunes Library" error

So like others I upgraded to 11; tried to keep an open mind but the thing keeps hanging up on me, running slowly, and wow I hate not being able to see my playlists next to my library. Even little things like deleting a song from a playlist and iTunes not automatically playing the next song bother me to no end.
SO, I decided to try a System Restore to my previous iTunes version but now I can't open iTunes due to a "New iTunes Library" error. /facepalm
I'm assuming it has something to do with 11 changing my Library file format and the file not reverting during the restore? Or something?
Is there anything I can do at this point? Any easy fix I'm not aware of?
Or will I have no choice but to uninstall/re-install the previous iTunes? (If this truly is the only solution could you please point me in the direction of the easiest way to go about it, I'm somewhat computer-literate but I've heard that it can be a pain in the butt)
I'm sure my songs themselves are fine, right? So my main thing is that I REALLY don't want to lose my playlists, I have dozens of them, that's what I'm the most worried about. I do keep all my music/playlists fairly up to date on my iPod as well, if that would help me restore my library. Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Quit iTunes.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes. (Substitute iTunes 10.7)
Use the Finder (Mac) or Windows Explorer (Windows) to go to the iTunes folder that contains the iTunes library files:
    Mac OS X
    /Users/username/Music/iTunes/
Microsoft Windows Windows XP and Windows 2000
    \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
Microsoft Windows Windows Vista and Windows 7
    \Users\username\Music\iTunes\
Drag the iTunes Library file from the above location to the Desktop.
Open the Previous iTunes Libraries folder in the iTunes folder.
Locate the file named iTunes Library YYYY-MM-DD where YYYY-MM-DD is the date you upgraded iTunes (Year-Month-Day).
Drag this file to the iTunes folder (the enclosing folder).
Rename this file to iTunes Library.
    Open iTunes.

  • ITunes store errors after switching to new computer

I am in process of moving everything from one Mac to another. I'm doing it by hand so I don't carry along all the old cruft left behind by programs that I deleted long ago. I've done this before without problems, but this time iTunes is giving me some trouble.
I can log in to the Store and access my profile, and I can play music that is already in my library. But when I try to download updates to some of my iPhone apps, or an album I pre-ordered that is now ready for pickup, I get one of two messages:
We could not completely your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-4).
Could not purchase "". An unknown error occurred (3027).
Google has failed me completely on figuring out what those errors really are. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am assuming the problem is with me and that the store really isn't having issues today.
    Thanks in advance,
    janine

It turns out that the problem was that I had reached my limit of five authorized systems on my iTunes user, and had to de-authorize my old system and authorize the new one. The error message could be a lot more helpful....

Only Apple Account Security could help at this point. You can try calling Apple Support in Canada - you'll have to find one of the several ways, such as Skype, to call an 800 number from outside of the relevant country - and ask for Account Security and see if they can help. Or you can find a friend who speaks Chinese and ask them to help you talk to Apple Support in China. There are really no other options that I know of.
Note, by the way, that these are user-to-user support forums. You aren't speaking with Apple when you post here.
