Itunes v.6.0.3 consistantly crashes my computer and blocks my anti-virus

I've been having issues with iTunes v.6 for a while now. I had trouble immediately after downloading the new version. I had to use the "Lorraine" fix to get the thing to even open! Now, I've found that Norton won't scan or update, none of my Office applications will open, and my computer crashes on a regular basis.
At this point, I'm quite tempted to just uninstall itunes completely and start over with the version in the box.
Does anyone else have any suggestions or ways to make the rest of my computer work with iTunes? I saw that there is an update for iTunes, but didn't try it as my luck has been really poor with the updates lateley. Will that one fix the issues with iTunes/Windows?
Any help would be appreciated. Also, does anyone happen to know what the support email address is for iTunes? When you call the apple help line, they tell you to email iTunes support, but I can't find an email address anywhere.

Mis-typed the version number? Apple's iTunes download page indicates latest version is still 6.0.2.
Anyhow, it sounds like your computer could use a fresh start (backup your data and rebuild.) Especially since you mention that your recent update history hasn't been all that successful. iTunes is a major resource hog (CPU and RAM) but you might have some other underlying issues.
I administer 600+ WindowsXP machines, all with Office and anti-virus, many with iTunes. iTunes runs just fine.

    What content are you wanting to copy of the iPad ? You should be able to copy off anything that you've purchased from Apple (films, music, ibooks, apps etc) by connecting the iPad to your computer's iTunes and doing File > Transfer Purchases. If you want to copy off music copied from your own CDs or purchased from other sites then you will need to find a program for your computer that can copy them off – iTunes won't copy them off.
    For photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit or saved from emails/websites then you should be able to copy them off via the Windows camera wizard.
    For photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.
    Content in third-party apps (documents and files etc) then how you copy that content off will depend upon what the apps that they are in support e.g.either via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc.

    The system for update from version 9.0.0 does not work at all. "There are no updates" listed in the dialog.

    You don't need to manually put iTunes Store purchases in the cloud. If that purchase can be stored there in your country, it's done so upon purchase. If not, it isn't possible.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer                            
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Looks like I solved my own problem by going to itunes, preferences, advanced, media folder location.

    The only way out of Recovery mode is to connect to iTunes and restore. If you cannot access the computer you normally sync with, you will lose all of your content, unless you sync to iCloud. With no backup present, your content will be lost.

  • My MuVo Micro Crashes My Computer and Locks Up - HELP

    I just got a Creative 52MB MuVo? Micro N200 for christmas. I just learned how to rip tracks from a CD and transfer it into the player. However, I tried this twice and both times it totally crashed my computer (total lock up in blue screen saying it couldn't write to the dri've for my player - had to turn off the power to turn off the computer) and locked up the player. Both times, I was transferring several (about 5) songs at one time. It it said that all the songs were complete except the last one. Then it kind of hung up. It wouldn't even let me eject the dri've because it said it was still transferring files. Then the computer crashed. Afterward, the player wouldn't even turn on. I had to take the battery out and put it back it in. The songs I had transferred made it into the player okay.
    My computer is about 3-4 years old. It is an HP Pavilion with a celeron processor and I upgraded the RAM to 320 MBs. I am connecting to the player through a USB hub. I run the ZoneAlarm firewall and the AVG anti-virus program and I keep both up to date. Another weird thing that happens is that every time I connect the player to the computer, my webshots (a free screensaver and wallpaper picture program) program organizer starts up.
    Does anyone have any ideas for how to fix this?

    With installing my zen xtra software it completely deleted my registry..... I install it on my xp comp, it works fine..... the only problem is that all my music is on my ME comp..... im not going to split the files and put all of them on floppys..... i have AVG too..... I wonder if it causes it!
    I hate Windows ME..... it was even deemed the worst OS ever by tech tv!
    It could be the firmware, even the media player drivers..... I cant test the media player idea, as soon as i install it it kills my computer..... but i installed new firmware and it stopped freezing ( The zen xtra )

    There is nothing that you can do except do what the phone is asking you to do and plug it into a computer to update it with iTunes.
    I think Apple would have given you the same response too because there is nothing else that you can do - there is no other way to update the phone except by plugging it into a computer and using iTunes.
    There is nothing we can do if you don't like the answers you are getting, but there is nothing else to do and it is hardly Apple's fault if you don't own a computer any longer.  Unfortunely you need a computer for this, so there is really no work aounrd.

    Remove all of these items in the following order:

    Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

    I am running itunes on a 64 bit computer with Windows 7 installed. The only way I can get itunes to open is to restart my computer. Restarting doesn't always work but that is the only option I have. I can find no problems with my system except this one. All my other programs seem to run and open OK.     Have you checked to see whether the App Store appis hidden via Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps being set 'on' ?
