Itunes video crashes in Windows Vista?

Question

This is the error I'm getting after I uninstalled both itunes & quicktime.  I also ran "Fix It" from Microsoft then reinstalled itunes, then quicktime.

By "unchecking" the 3D option in Quicktime I now can view my videos.   
However, I did this after following the instructions exactly in article HT1923, which took me about an hour to do.    I've been trouble shooting this problem all afternoon.  It seems to me that Apple should have Quicktime load without the 3D option and then notify the viewer that if they want to view a movie in 3D they should select that option.  By the way when I last checked very few video cards will support bluray let alone 3D. 
On a side note, you U seen any of the production of the hobbit movie?  Can't wait to see it with my 3 grandsons.
