ITunes Video Error; causes iTunes to close down completely

Since the update iTunes will play music fine, but any video attempt causes iTunes to create an error that closes the program.

Denali - apologies for the incorrect name earlier i don't seem to be able to delete it!
I have followed your contribution here with interest and indeed tried your fix but it didn't work for me. I'm asking for your help because the useless 'stards at Apple show zero interest in trying to fix my problem - just endless 'have a (insert here fabulous, awesome, nice etc) day' banal commentary that helps no0ne fro their support staff that are not tech people anyway..
So any suggestions are welcome. I keep getting an error box pop up after trying to import a CD - it gets 3/4 tracks in and then says it has encountered an error and must close down. I can find no error codes though a previous attempt at trying to trace something pointed at Quicktime. I have the latest version and have uninstaled and reinstalled about 4 times and I continue to get this problem which makes itunes unuseable for me. Oddly when I first installed itunes it was working correctly and I managed to upload around 19 albums but for some unknown reason it is no longer playing ball.
I have had this problem now for over 2 months and as I said noone is willing to help. BTW I run XP on a PC.

When iTunes finishes playing home movies it closes down before it went back to your home movie library

when i play home movies in itunes when the video is finished itunes closes , before it just went back to home movie libary is there a setting i can se to revert it

Yep, done all that. Repeatly. Don't get any sort of recovery mode message or the phone showing up on iTunes at all. iTunes is most current version, all diagnostics show everything fine, and it works fine with my current phone. Just....nothing.

Itunes store access causes itunes to be not responding?

This is pretty strange -- at my home all this works fine -- I select itunes store and I can navigate and select things and even run diagnostics and everything works fine. At my office (where I have network control) when I click on the itunes store, the programs instantly goes into not responding mode and can only be shut down through the task manager. The same thing happens if I run diagnostics -- instantly get the windows message that say this program has performed a fatal error and needs to close. I can restart itunes and I can play music from my library and stream it as well -- I can even go to look at my online account options -- check my balance -- all of which requires a connection, but if I click on the home icon -- the program hangs -- this used to work just fine, but I believe stopped working upon my upgrade to itunes 8.
If I could identify what itunes is doing when it tries to connect to the store and run diagnostics, perhaps I could check and see if there are any problems in the network issues.

UPDATE: I authorized the computer -- which itunes confirmed was already authorized, but now the itunes store works -- go figure.

ITunes Match now causes iTunes to hang/crash

When I start iTunes, everything is fine. When iTunes Match starts checking my library and the cloud, iTunes then hangs and I have to force quit. If I turn off WiFi, I can prevent iTunes Match from starting up and use iTunes and sync iDevices fine. My Library seems to be fine, but if I turn on WiFi again, iTunes Match starts connecting and again iTunes crashes. I have tried to turn off iTunes Match, but iTunes Match has to connect before it will let me turn it off, and connecting is what is crashing iTunes.
Anyone else having a similar experience?

What I've found is there are specific files that won't upload, causing iTunes to crash.
The files that are causing it for me are hour+ long DJ mixes. I can't find anything else other than the length of the files. Nothing I've found helps other than deleting the files from your library. Good luck finding those files though .
I have older files that were in my library when Match was first released of the same length, which do not have the issue. Extremely frustrating that there isn't a way I've found to disable a file from syncing.

Healing Brush Tool causes PSE to close down

After I click the Healing Brush Tool and then click the spot on my picture the entire program closes down. It does not give me an explanation. None of the other tools do this. Help please! THANK YOU!

i bought an ipod about a year and a half ago... everything worked fine until i decided to upgrade. itunes does not work at all! at first when i clicked on the shortcut (i have windows) nothing would happen. now i try again, and it always comes up and says: "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close." i have been trying this for a month and a half w/ no success. PLEASE HELP, I'M ABOUT TO GIVE UP ON ITUNES ENTIRELY!

Itunes 10 - needs 2 times to close down

Hi!
i have a problem with my Itunes since i have installed version 10.
Whenever i want to close it (cmd+Q) it does close at first, but then reopens. Then i close it down again and it works.
Is there anybody with the same problem or - even better - somebody with a solution?

Video playback causes itunes to crash

Since version 8 I have been unable to watch purchased videos without iTunes crashing. The only thing that gets around this is completely installing iTunes again, I was wondering if anyone knows of a more permanant fix?

I turned off windows defender, that helped for me, but it didn't help a secondary and probably unrelated issue of playing videos on a 2nd monitor thanks.

When accessing iTunes Store from iTunes, which has worked well for several years, it stops half-way through progress bar and then I get the "iTunes has Stopped working...Windows is checking..."..then " A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you..."
Probably not a related problem, but also, when synching with an iPhone that I recently reset, copying just 188 tracks in selected playlists to transfer to the iPhone, the copying stops and hangs after just a few tracks, so this is unsuccessful too.
Another iPhone worked a synch but fewer tracks to download!
I've uninstalled and re-installed iTunes 9.2 etc - doesn't fix problem. Any help please?

Wow, that is crazy .... but it worked! Thanks for taking the time to post that up as I would never have even dreamed of thinking that the display drivers would stop iTunes working... that *****.
For any one else - this was Windows Vista on a Dell inspiron, went to Start menu-> Settings-> Control Panel-> Device Manager -> Display Adaptors -> right click on ATI Radeon (in my case) and then "Update driver software" and let windows search the web

Installing iTunes on VMWare caused iTunes on Mac to forget where songs are.

I have (had) a pristine iTunes library on my Mac. Two days ago downloaded and installed iTunes for Windows (64) on my VMWare partition. For some reason this caused about 1/2 of the songs in iTunes on the Mac to forget where they are (i.e. the exclamation point problem). The original files have not been moved, and if I do the locate option I can find them - but I don't want to do this on at a time.
How can I get my iTunes library back in order?

I also have this problem, but on my 64-bit Windows 7 desktop. My income level no longer permits me to purchase Apple computers. Anything that I've bought off of the iTunes store, most of it's ten to six years old, will not play any further than 2:34. ITunes Video Podcasts - Message: " iTunes has stopped working"

When I try to play my video podcasts I'm getting the message "iTunes has stopped working". I'm able to play my music and sync my iPod Nano 6th Gen just fine. I looked through 19 pages of messages to see if this specific problem has been addressed previously but didn't find anything. I'm running Ver 10.1.0.56. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate your help. I'm using VisionTek ATI Radeon HD4850, 512MB, PCI-e. As far as I know the driver is up-to-date - I'm set up for automatic updates.

Your Windows 7 will have been recording additional information about those ones. Fingers crossed, that'll give us a heads up about the nature of the trouble.
Head into your Action Center and look through your Problem History for iTunes problem reports generated at the time of the errors. Open them up and have a look through.
Do they seem to be saying pretty much the same thing? If so, copy the contents of a typical problem report into a reply here so we can have a look.

When trying to open itunes. Error message: iTunes.exe - Bad Image

I am unable to open iTunes and I recive this message when I open it up, "The application or DLL C:/WINDOWS/system32/softpub.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." Any help to what this means? Thanks

Fix digital signing of Windows drivers
In some cases an issue with the digital signing of certain Windows XP drivers can prevent iTunes from launching. Use the following steps to correct such issues:
1. Highlight all of the following 4 lines of text that begin with regsvr32 and then choose Copy from the Edit menu of your web browser:
regsvr32 /s wintrust.dll
regsvr32 /s softpub.dll
regsvr32 /s mssip32.dll
regsvr32 /s initpki.dll
2. Open the Notepad program by navigating to:
Start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad
3. In Notepad, choose Paste from the Edit menu. Note: make sure that the text that appears in Notepad is the same as what is shown above.
4. From the File menu, choose Save As.
5. In the File name: field type iTunes.bat and save the file to the Desktop.
6. Close Notepad and locate the iTunes.bat file. It should appear on the Desktop.
7. Double-click the file and you will see a black window appear on the screen for about a minute. Wait until the window automatically disappears and proceed to the next step.
8. The iTunes.bat file can be deleted at this time.
9. Try opening iTunes again.

Itunes stores purchase causes itunes freezes

Despite having downloaded the latest version of Itunes (10.6), itunes freezes any time i try to buy a song. the purchase does not complete and utines freezes until i reboot.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:
