ITunes Video not compatible with 5th generation 60GB video iPod

I downloaded several videos from the iTunes store to my Mac G4 1.67 powerbook. When updating my iPod, I received a message that some of the videos, really only one, was not downloaded to the iPod because the format was not compatible with my new 5th generation iPod. It seems to play fine on my G4. How can there be a compatibility problem with at video purchased from iTunes and downloaded to a Mac and transferred to a 5th generation iPod ? Anyone have any suggestions ? Thanks.

Thank you, lllaass.  Of course, an apple user remarks to this fact in their review. Are all courses going to have reviews attached? Why do I have to read reviews on courses to get this information?  Who is writing the review?  It's not an apple official. How reliable is information in reviews?  I've read reviews that have incorrect information. Why not put the fact that a course is incompatible with iPod right in the course description. It would save a lot of time and wasted bandwidth. Why was the book allowed to be downloaded onto an unsupported device?

  • Itunes 8 not compatible with 1st generation ipod shuffle

I have had a **** of a time tonight trying to get my ipod shuffle working with itunes 8 and finally gave up after trying to restore it via itunes 8 which totally screwed it up because it wouldn't finish the restore so I had to unplug the ipod. Got a zillion ipod busy errors when trying to restore. Used disk utility to format it for apple hfs.... still wouldn't restore.... ipod busy b.s. error messages... tried formatting it for fat on itunes 7.7.1 and finally got it so that itunes could get it restored and working. Problem is... now I have to try and switch back to itunes 7.7.1 which means deleting my computer from apple tv and using disk utility to backup my older 7.7.1 over my itunes 8 in order to get back to some kind of workable solution. Plus my itunes 8 library is more up to date than my backup. So that means more messing around. Fortunately I was able to restore most, not all of the files by plugging in my ipod 80gb. For some reason it didn't copy all the new movie files over.
I've had so many problems with compatibility, crashing, locking up etc that it is no longer worth my time to try and use itunes 8.
Not only can't I change album artwork in itunes 8... it basically doesn't want to work my my old ipod shuffle either.
This is one version of itunes that was not tested properly before putting it on the download server.

    Hey kriscro2,
Thanks for the question. iTunes 11.1.4 is compatible with Windows 8, as outlined on the System Requirements page:

  • Itunes will not recognise my 4th generation 60gb ipod with colour display.

itunes no longer recognises my 4th generation 60gb pod. It connects the machine for a short time, but I cannot add anything or delete anything from the ipod. It then says safe to disconnect without having requested this. I am using a re3cent version of itunes.I do not wish to loose all my music by syncing the machine and at the moment that appears impossible anyway. Can anyone help?  And while I'm here, is there a simple way to remove gaps in playback on ipods ?  jonnyMDG

    Hello alicee1303
If the computer recognized your iPod Nano, then the next step would be to try the steps in the following article to isolate and resolve the issue.

  • Vista tells me that iTunes is not compatible with my laptop

I have a brand new laptop that I am using as my Media computer. I have iTunes on my PC and other laptop with no problems. My iPod is great.
However, I have tried 3 times to install the newest version of iTunes and Vista tells me it's not compatible. I tried the 64-bit version (I have a 32-bit system) but same message.
    What can I do?

Do you have the service pack (SP1) for Vista installed ?

  • Trouble Dowloading iTunes 9 - iTunes 7 not compatible with my new iPod!

I have just bought a new I Pod after losing my last one. The new I Pod will not sync without iTunes 9.1 (I currently have iTunes 7). Whenever I try to download iTunes 9.1 using my 02 mobile broadband I get the following message:
"iTunes is not a valid Win32 application"
iTunes will not run despite taking around 1hour 30 mins to download due to my slow internet connection. I have tried the troubleshooting on Apple support by deleting my temporary internet files and uninstalling itunes on my computer but it will still not download.
Is it likely that I will need a broadband internet connection for the download to be successful?
Is there anywhere I can get a CD with the iTunes 9 software on it?
    Any help is greatly appreciated
    Thanks

Just what you already suggested yourself - downloading it through another connection. A friend's house who has broadband, for example. You'd need about 90MB on a memory stick to save it, then take it to your PC.

  • ITunes U not compatible with iPod touch 4th and 5th generation.

I attempted to subscribe to the course, Moons An Introduction. When opening one of the course books, I get an error message stating I need an iPad to read the book. There is nothing about the course being incompatible with iPod touch. Why can't incompatibility information be included in the course description?  What a waste of my time. Please don't advise me to open the book on my computer. I don't want to read a book on my computer. That's why I got an iPod. I'm thinking about getting an iPad, but as soon as I purchase one, it will be outdated. Isn't this a ploy by apple to get people to buy iPads?  How many iTunes U courses are like this?  The most important book of the course is incompatible.
    Thanks,
    Brenda Woollard

  • ITunes 6.0 not compatible with fifth generation Nano

Just bought a new Nano but can’t upload tracks onto it as iTunes version 6.0 isn’t new enough for it. I wasn’t given CD with the iPod and don’t have internet access on my home PC to download the latest version onto.
    Any thoughts?
      Windows XP

The 2nd generation Nano in the slim presentation box doesn't come with CD. Do you know anyone who does have an internet connection who could download iTunes 7 for you? If you do you could ask them to download and burn a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe to a CD for you. Alternatively if you can get to the London Apple Store you could ask them if they could do it for you.

  • Itunes library not compatible with new version of iTunes??

    hey guys and gals,
when i open itunes, it opens a message saying:
"the file 'itunes library' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes"
can anyone help me because I have a **** of alot of music with every information and album art for each song.
    thanks in advance,
    Dean

I have run into the same problem. Like others here I could get to my library and playlists via the finder. Next I tried re-creating my iTunes library and playlists as described by Article HT1451. This process is easy enough but takes some time if you have a large library. Once I finished the re-creation process my iTunes opened without any problem from the iTunes icon. However if I opened iTunes via the finder, then opening iTunes from the icon went back to the old error message!! Fixing it required another re-creation process. Like others my music and video files are on a separate hard drive. Looks like a bug Apple needs to fix. In the meantime stick with either the icon or the finder but not both. Hope this helps.

  • ITunes 10 not compatible with Win XP SP3?

My wife's Dell is running Win XP (32 bit) with SP3, has most of the recent Microsoft security updates, MS Office 2007, and the 2011 version of McAfee. It is rather "plain vanilla" in its configuration, so I don't expect any conflicts with the Win version of iTunes.
With iTunes 9.2.1.5, her computer & iTunes work fine. I thought I'd try the suggested upgrade to iTunes 10.4.1. It downloaded and installed OK. However, upon the next reboot of the computer, ended up at the black screen and could only restart in safe mode. Repeated restarts, only could get to safe mode though.
I restored her computer from a disk image, and it ran fine until I tried to upgrade to iTunes 10.4.1 again ... same thing, can only boot to safe mode. I repeated this process a couple more times with different versions of her system's disk images, all run iTunes 9.2.1.5 OK, but crash with an iTunes 10.4.1 install. I also tried this with and without running Norton Win Dr. & Disk Dr. (not running Norton antivirus, rather McAfee) to clean up the registry and system files, but same results.
Is iTunes 10.x.x only for Vista or Win OS 7? Is there some known Microsoft update or setting that conflicts with iTunes 10.x.x? Does iTunes 10.x.x not play nice with McAfee or any of its security features? Is there some level of Windows security settings that could cause this?
I'm OK with iTunes 9.2.1.5 for now, but don't want the next Apple device that requires a newer iTunes version to break her computer. We wish to stay at Win XP SP3 as both our work computers use XP and our same current level of program revisions, so we don't want new issues (plus time & cost) going to Win 7 just for the sake of iTunes 10.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
PS: I personally use a MacPro at home, but that is not a current option for my wife (just saying this in advance for those who's fix will be to "get a Mac" :-)

Why not update your OS to 10.6?

  • Is the iTunes Store not compatible with anything less than 10.3?

I have a G4 Mac Mini that can't be upgraded to OS 10.5 and the iTunes store keeps pushing me to an upgrade of iTunes I can't install.  It's kind of frustrating to be taken, constantly to something I can't upgrade to.
Currently I am at iTunes 8.2.1.

Are you able to access the Store if you update to 9.2.1, erick?
