ITunes View Options- No Ringtones!

I would like to put some different ringtones on my new iphone, so I searched the apple site, and was instructed: "If you do not see the bell icon on any songs, choose View > View Options, and make sure the Ringtone checkbox is checked."
Now I've gone in to itunes, selected View Options from the View menu, and looked very hard for that Ringtone checkbox, but there is none! I checked for a software update, and my system tells me I'm up to date; so now what? I've searched a few dozen pages here, but frankly don't have the patience to sift through the hundreds of pages of threads... I hope someone can help!
Thanks!

I have MacBook Pro and Mac Pro.
I live in UK. I could not find "Ringtone" from View option.
Then I checked my MacBook Pro, it has Ringtone view option that I can see.
Both Mac are iTune 7.7.1.
I checked carefully, both same but my MacBook can not see the select option for to tick Ringtone.
Then I l Sign out for iTune store, then I could tick Ringtone from view option, then I sign in again.
So I have now "Ringtone" in view.
Try this!!!

  • ITunes view options dialog missing

Hello, brand new Macbbok 13.3. When I select "View Options" in menu, or ⌘J, the View label flashes blue, but no dialog appears.

I was having a similar problem, and it turned out it had to do with how I set up my external monitor with my MacBook Pro.  Specifically, when I had set up the external monitor to hold the menu bar, the iTunes View Options dialog box would not appear.  When I moved the menu bar back to the laptop screen, I was then able to see the dialog box.  If you're using an external monitor, double check the menu bar placement under the Arrangement tab of the Displays System Preferences.

  • Itunes view options - multiple Apple IDs

Itunes view options - can I see the 'account' that purchased a song / app / movie?  We have a central iMac that Home Shares among multiple (5) Apple IDs but no way to see which 'asset' is associated with which Apple ID in the iTunes view .

    this script will help:
    Track Down Purchases
This script will examine each track in a selection of tracks or a selected playlist to determine if it was purchased from the iTunes Store and then copies it to a discrete playlist named for the person who purchased it, eg: "Steve Ballmer's Purchased Music". Recognizes song, video, and audiobook purchases. Purchaser information is gleaned by examining the track's file, which, depending on file location and access speed, can take as long a second per track.

  • Itunes view options no (song key) selection

As a music producer I would love if the staff at itunes could create a (music key) option under the view options?
Has anyone heard if this will at any stage be added?

  • Itunes View Options - Can U change the default settings?

I am constantly adding "Composer" to my view options in my Itunes Library and when in ITunes Store. Is there a way to create a number of view options (eg. Artist, Album, When Added, Composer, etc.) and save this as a "default setting" so that I don't have to keep adding Composer. If there is, I haven't found it yet.

Time it was possible, don't you think?

  • Cannot keep settings in iTunes - "View Option"

I want certain information to show in my iTunes library like title, singer, composer, etc. I go to View Options and check what I want to show and then click SAVE. It's fine....until I leave and come back. Then I'm back to the default settings...I guess they're the default since I can't get rid of them. I haven't found anyplace to change the defaults, but I don't want to change these settings each time I view a song in my music library.
What am I doing wrong? I have iTunes 9.6.3 but this has been going on through past upgrades as well.

    Same thing happening for me.
    Really irritating.

  • Can't get iTunes view options to stay on 2G Nano

Every time I connect my 2G Nano, iTunes changes my view options back to the original factory settings, forcing me to readjust them. This doesn't happen with my 5G iPod and I haven't been able to figure a way around it. Any suggestions?

Do you see iTunes.exe running in Task Manager > Processes?
You might try this to find conflicts

  • Mono/stereo field in iTunes view options

How do I add a mono/stereo field to the view options in iTunes?
I have over 20 years experience working with professional bands but am now deaf in 1 ear so I understand what mono is.
This would help sort a 128 kbs stereo copy of a song that is about half the quality of a 128 kbs mono copy of the same song.

If Apple's iTunes software engineers did not design-in a particular feature or function, you can't add one yourself, unless you are a skilled programmer or hire one to do it for you. Even then, I expect that modifying the code is a violation of the end-user license agreement (EULA).
If I understand your motive, you could rename mono files to distinguish them from others, or perhaps use an existing field - there are quite a few sort fields not typically used - and place an 'M' there to easily sort those tunes.

  • Itunes view options problem

Apologies if this has been posted before....
Is there any way of having a default setting for the library columns (artist, album, year etc)?
i want to have specific ones on display, but itunes keeps switching back every time I do something, like play a track.
Also, is there any way of changing the names of the columns? I don't suppose there is, but thought I would ask just in case.....
    Thanks

So, holding option down while moving data into iTunes does NOT reference.
what do you mean by reference ?
if you have +*copy files to ... when adding to library+* check marked in preferences > advanced and option-drag content from e.g. an external HD into an open iTunes window, iTunes will index the path to the file's location, but not copy the file physically into the iTunes music (or media) folder.
    Test and try to verify.
i'm using the above technique to add my lossless music files (stored on an external) to my library.
It's actually click + SHIFT to reference.
again, i'm not sure what you mean by reference.
Don't you think there would be a view option (CMD J) for referenced data?
cmd j brings up *view options* for me.

  • ITunes view options

Hello, I have my Itunes library on my Imac and I stream it onto my Macbook pro. On my Macbook I have altered the column view to show last played and number of plays as well as song, artist, album, which is the same as on my Imac. The probem I am having is everytime I open Itunes on my Macbook the columns have changed. Last played has gone and Genre and Rating have appeared. Any idea how to lock the columns?
    Thanks.

    Hi Al Carubia,
In the iTunes 7, each item you select to "View options" for will affect that item.
So when you select "View options", on the window that opens, what is listed in the upper left, your iPod, music?

  • 2G Nano View Options in iTunes dont get saved!!!

I noticed an issue with the 2G Nano that the view options (columns with Artist, Song, Track Number etc.) always get reset to the default settings in iTunes every time I plug it in to charge/update music. I know with all the other iPods I've owned the iTunes view options (columns with Artist, Song, Track Number etc.) for the particular iPod are always saved and appear the same from computer to computer within iTunes. Does anyone have any idea why the view options aren't being saved on the 2G Nanos when it is viewed within iTunes?

The other post on this may have been mine.
What I find is that the Music folder under the plugged-in iPod source always comes up in a weird configuration upon connecting the nano. You can customize from there, and it will hold the new column choices/positions during the session. However, once you eject the iPod and connect again later, you're back to the original nonsense columns (nonsense in that they make no sense for a music library ... the Description column is present, intended for podcasts).
Fortunately, playlists seem to work. So, I now transfer all my music in one big smart playlist and, when browsing the contents of my nano, I select the playlist rather than Music as the source folder. It's a decent workaround, but I hope the problem is fixed in the next revision.

  • View options in iTunes

Under view options, I would like to sort albums by year and descending. This 'descending' option was in earlier versions if iTunes. How can we sort the albums where the new content appears on the top of the list?

    Hi,
In song view you can sort a number of field by either ascending or descending order.
You can select year, click on heading, this changes to descending order, click again to get ascending.
Is this what your looking for?

  • Installed itunes 11.0.2 on Mac OSX 10.6.8 - why no Size or Kind in View Options? Can't distinguish WAVs from mp3s!

How can I distinguish mulitple WAVs from mp3s in Itunes 11.0.2 when no "size" or "kind" options are available? Also, how can I recover lost playlists?

Itunes crashed today & automatically installed 11.0.2 when I reopened it Chris.
There are definitely no "size" or "kind" boxes under View>Options, see screengrab. I didn't delete any playlists, they disappeared!

  • Changes in viewing options in iTunes 8

    Hi all,
I have had a disappointment with iTunes 8 in terms of the viewing options. I used to view and sort through my library in the list view mode where I would have 3 columns to choose from genre, artist, and album. This was a very convenient and rapid way to sort through and find music I was looking for. This option appears to be gone from iTunes 8. Is it? Why? I am not a fan of sorting through a long list. The grid viewing option does not please me so much either. I see no reason to bog down my system with all the cover art...
So does anyone know if it is possible to restore the list view with the 3 sorting columns I had in previous iTunes versions?

    Within iTunes:
    View->Show Browser. Or just CTRL-B
    Best of Luck

  • No view option in itunes 8

as the title say i can’t change the view option for my ipode, if i’m in the music library it works but when i highlight music under my ipod it’s greyed out, it’s also greyed out in the view option on the tool bar, anybody got a fix
i’ve tried going back to 7.7.1 but it won’t let me

    same here
under "Library", the music view can be changed just fine
and under "Devices", meaning the ipod, the music view can't be changed or even select any song as they are all grayed out
I'm sure it has always been that way, even back in my first itunes 6.xx versions
