ITunes Visualizer options greyed out?, iTunes Visualizer options greyed out?

Hi,
I prefer the "Classic" iTunes visualizer but for some reason the "options" menu is now greyed out for some reason.
I've just bought a new iMac i3 and copied my library across, prior to this the option was "live" and i could adjust the frame rate, artwork and quality settings etc?
Any idea what's happened?

I am using the newest version of itunes on Vista SP1.
The visualizer worked perfectly at first, in the song list window size. I wanted to try it fullscreen so i went through the menu and chose show full screen, and it worked.
But i would prefer to have the visualizer in a non fullscreen mode. When i go to pick one of those modes through the menu, the options are grayed out, and if i use the ctrl+0,1,2, or 3 while the visualizer is going it just exits fullscreen mode and closes the visualizer all together, leaving me looking at my playlist.
Any ideas or key sequences?
I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Nothing changes.

Me too. Tried all of the usual suggestions; reset cache, reset warnings, messed with the hosts files, everything,
Still can't connect to the store, all I'm trying to do is download all the album artwork for my albums...
EDIT: Exactly the same situation too, Macbook pro with SSD in an optibay and HDD in its usual place. Upgraded to mavericks as part of my SSD upgrade

i am troubleshooting iTunes match because it has been days since i uploaded music to mac iTunes and it still has the iCloud status icon for 'waiting'.

with your Itunes open and playing, select view from the task bar, click visuilzar> there are abunch of different choices

I have multiple libraries on an external drive. Somehow all the iTunes library files i.e. iTunes Library.itl, xml, itdb, Media folder, etc disappeared! Only the music files remain. Now when I start iTunes w/option it can't find any of the old libraries!

Help! I 'm using an old G4 powerbook, Mac OSX 10.5.8, iTunes ver 10. I have multiple iTunes libraries on an external drive. Everything was fine for a while, then all of the iTunes library files, i.e. iTunes Library.itl, xml, itdb, artwork folder, Media folder, etc mysteriously disappeared! Only the music files remain (thank god) So now when I start iTunes w/option key to choose a library, I can't choose any of them because iTunes won't recognize them. Because all the library stuff is missing. So can I re-create the library files? (I don't care if I lose my ratings)
Or should I create a new empty library on the external drive, then manually move all the music files to the Media folder in the new library?
I tried some stupid ideas like creating a new library just to start iTunes, then going into prefs and advanced, then under iTunes Media folder location, selecting the location of the old library on the external, to see if iTunes would then find all the music which is still there, but no workee.
I'm out of ideas, and I searched the archives.
Help! anyone?

i wouldn't - at least not until i
mount the external
point iTunes media folder location back to the external via preferences > advanced
consolidate my library via file > library > organize library
The ntfs hasn't seem to be causing any problems, but I've always wanted to know.
in order for your Mac to write to NTFS drives, it needs some help by installing e.g. the NTFS 3G driver. apparently that or something similar is installed on your Mac already. preferably, it would be formatted for Mac but then windows machines would need to have e.g. MacDrive installed to recognize the drive.

Message "itunes has stopped working". Itunes opens and can read an audio cd but as soon as the "get information" option is selected the message "itunes has stopped working" and the computer freezes or at least slows to a snail's pace.

I have a PC running Windows 7 - 64bit OS. I have had iTunes installed since the beginning of the year on this computer and have not had any trouble with it except actually using iTunes but that is a different issue. The other day I inadvertently downloaded "Tuneup" which I don't want or need. I firstly want to say I have no concrete evidence that Tuneup has led to my problems. It may be coincidental that Tuneup and my problems appeared together.
Tonight when I started iTunes, Tuneup took over a quarter of the screen on the right side. I closed this program. When the list of tracks was ready to be loaded from the CD and I went to" file" - "get info" option the message "iTunes has stopped working" would appear. Closing this message resulted in iTunes shutting down. I should say that before I closed the message the computer had essentially ground to a halt. The other curious thing was the behavour of the mouse pointer on the screen - the only place where it was visible was in the "iTunes has stopped working" box. Moving it out of the message box resulted in it disappearing. It would reappear if it were caused to wander into the message box.
I subsequently removed Tuneup (control panel, programs and features, etc...) iTunes had not improved. I then deleted iTunes, firstly saving the library to a file on the desktop. Then I did a fresh(?) install of ITunes but there seems to be no change. A curious thing was even though I had deleted iTunes through the control panel the library was still there as if I had done nothing. The whole thing is a complete mystery and extremely galling.
If someone has had a similar problem I would really like to know what the fixes were.

I had a similar problem. I'm using 64bit Windows7. The following solution worked for me:
COPY    QTMovieWin.dll
FROM    c:\program files (x86)\common files\apple\apple application support\
INTO     c:\program files (x86)/iTunes
Also, reinstalling Quicktime has worked for others having this same issue.

Why can't I see my PayPal payment option in my iTunes account?

Sorry, hit send too soon. Tried to download from app store for last 2 days, but it said that I have to verify my PayPal account. Nothing wrong with PayPa (verified thru PayPal) but I don't even see a PayPal option in my iTunes account. I Remember setting it up when I got my iPad, but why can't I see it now to make changes. The only thing I see is my credit card info, but downloads won't pull credit card info.

I figure this out on my own.
Tap on the graphic of the book (not the chapters link in the top right corner) and the process bar with time played, remaining, and even repeat are available.
Lesson learned? If you keep tapping, eventually the solution will be found.

QT updater pops up multiple times per day, ONLY option is QT + iTunes

Problem:
Recently the QT updater has decided to pop up not just once every few days, not just once a day, but from one to a dozen times a day. This is SO annoying!!! I disabled QTTASK in startup, but if I run QT then QTTASK is re-enabled!! ARGGGHHH!!!
Questions:
1) How do I run Quicktime WITHOUT it re-enabling QTTASK?
Also, in the pop-up, only one update option is offered - QT plus iTunes. Perhaps others like and use iTunes, but I don't and I don't want to install it!!!! EVER!!! So...
2) If QTTASK isn't going to give me an option to JUST update Quicktime, How do I PERMANENTLY disable QTTASK? (what's the point in having it if I have to go out to the Apple web site and manually update?)

Thanks for the response! I changed the settings, and checked in msconfig to verify that I had disabled qttask (I had). I rebooted, and for a while all appeared well. About 12 hours after the reboot I played a .mov file, and shortly afterward I started getting prompted to update for the iTunes and QT update <big sigh>.
I certainly hope Apple doesn't force iTunes upon us. I had two disasters caused by iTunes, and I wonder if my qttask problems aren't related to the iTunes problems. In short, iTunes didn't like the Adobe software already on the box (a very expensive suite). I'm sorry, but I need the Adobe software a few orders of magnitute more than I need iTunes, so I cancelled the iTunes installation. iTunes apparently doesn't like that, and I had to revert to the system restore point I made just before starting the install of iTunes. Only apparently something from iTunes survived (how does that happen?), as at the next boot iTunes popped up to tell me my installation was incomplete at that there was a conflict with this and that and that (all Adobe). So I went back to a system restore point from 3 days before the attempt at installing iTunes. Same thing happened. Since trying to cancel the iTunes installer didn't work, I killed it with task manager. That was a month ago, and then last week the qt updater annoyance began. Maybe a complete uninstall of all Apple software is needed? Any suggestions on how to completely remove whatever portions of iTunes are left behind?

-I tried making sure all 3 other users were logged out - so I didn't use the "switch user" feature in XP - that didn't work.
it's possible that one of the itunes background processes (typically ipodservice.exe, but also sometimes ituneshelper.exe) is launching in the wrong user account, which is "faking" having another user logged in and using itunes.
let's try the technique from this hudgie post. if it doesn't work for iposervice, try again with ituneshelper:

I already read on the forums that I need to enable my 'Ringtunes' option on my iTunes and the way to do that is to go under "Preference" and then select "General"....

HT1176 I am trying to add my iPhoto library to files to be backed up on time machine. I am told to click on the Options Minus butto, but it is greyed out. What is the solution ?

You can "see" the iPhoto library in Time Machine backups, but you cannot "open" the library or "browse" the contents while you are in Time Machine.
Apple makes you restore the entire iPhoto library to another destination...like your desktop....if you want to retrieve a few older images that you may have deleted by mistake.
This is a convoluted mess, but unfortunately, that is the way it is.

How can I delete files from iTunes AND my hard drive? It used to be very obvious in iTunes but I no longer see that option.

Are these songs in the iTunes media folder shown in iTunes prefs > Advanced?
Only songs in this location will be deleted from the HD when delting from iTunes.
Also, iTunes prefs > Advanced.
Click Reset Warnings.
If you are deleting from a playlist, it will only delete from that playlist.
Hold Shift and press Delete to remove from the playlist and from the library.

Go to Store > View My Account > Edit Purchase Info. Then just click "No credit card" and hit Okay, and it will remove all of the info. Good luck.
