Itunes volume

I hear volume fron the regular parts of my computer and from front row while playing a dvd. No sound when I play music in itunes???

Is the volume slider a the top left of iTunes turned up?
If so, open GarageBand then close it and try again.

  • Using apple remote to control iTunes volume

This must have been covered before. I searched through 12 pages and couldn't find the answer. I simply want to be able to control the iTunes volume with my white apple remote. Presently it will only control system volume and I'm going out to a different device where system volume has no effect.
This is for Snow Leopard. Appreciate the help.

I too play iTunes to remote speakers (airplay express, apple TV, IOS devices running Speakers app.)  The volume buttons on my Macbook Air control the laptop speakers but won't control the iTunes application volume when playing Airplay.  Going to iTunes to click on a slider is frustrating when there are volume buttons on the laptop.
Another App solution is Airfoil from http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/mac/
There is a cost and I don't have a free Apple/Mac solution.  But with Airfoil, you can link the volume bottons to Airplay volume.  This is really a preference that iTunes should inherently provide.  But with Airfoil, I can push any audio app (Pandora, Spotify, browser audio, and even iTunes) to any number of speakers both Airplay and computer.  And Airfoil will link the volume buttons to the audio output on any of the speakers selected.  I no longer use the Airplay option from within iTunes but use Airfoil to push iTunes whereever I want and properly control volume.
Hope this helps.  Sorry it is a third party pay app as the solution when Apple could just incorporate this simple request.

  • ITunes volume level vs. OS X volume level

    Hello,
Is there any method to "lock" the iTunes volume level to OS X? Ie. i don't want two options to adjust volume level (inside iTunes and in OS X on my MacBook Pro). I just want one. The thing is that i want to be able to adjust the volume level using the Remote app on my iphone. But i always leave the volume bar on max inside iTunes, so i'm only able to decrease the volume and not increase it.
Let me explain this with an example:
    iTunes is playing some song.
    iTunes volume is a 100%
OS X volume is at 50%
I'm not next to my computer and i wan't to increase the volume of the music.
I pull out my iphone from my pocket, launch Remote and the volume bar is at 100% - hence i'm only able to decrease the volume.
Until now i would turn down the volume in itunes to lets say 50% and the volume in OS X to 100%. That way i would be able to both de- and increase the volume from the Remote. But this means that all other sound on my MacBook is at 100% and that is sometimes too loud.
So what i would like some patch or app that adjust the volume in itunes if i manually adjust the OS X volume, to match the same percentage. And vice versa; if i adjust the volume in itunes (inside itunes on my mac or through the Remote app) it should adjust the it should automatically adjust it to the corresponding percentage in OS X.
    Thanks.

    are you using Sound Check?

  • ITunes volume control script

With the included scripts in Mainstage, I was surprised not to find one for controlling iTunes volume.
This would allow me to mix the iTunes volume from the Axiom 61 sliders while in Mainstage fullscreen.
Does anyone know of an AppleScript for this purpose?
    Thanks in advance

Well, I hope someone can find a solution to my issue. (itunes sound volume using sliders)
    Thanks for your input guys.
My knowledge of Applescript is very basic, however, I did find a script for changing the itunes sound volume using buttons.
One button increases and the next button decreases the sound volume a little bit at a time.
Here are the scripts. I modified one I found online. There may be some unnecessary lines.
    on action(parameter)
    tell application "iTunes"
if the sound volume is less than 95 then
set sound volume to (sound volume + 5)
    else
    set sound volume to 0
    end if
    end tell
    end action
and to decrease use the one below.
    on action(parameter)
    tell application "iTunes"
if the sound volume is greater than 5 then
set sound volume to (sound volume - 5)
    else
    set sound volume to 0
    end if
    end tell
    end action
A script for changing the itunes sound volume in Mainstage using a slider from my Axiom 61 is still what I'm after.
    Anybody??

  • Having iTunes volume only affect Mac speakers, not those connected with Airport Express

In iTunes Help, it says "To use only the volume controls on your remote speakers, see Adjust the sound quality." Great! At Adjust the sound quality, it says "You can customize the sound for...specific speakers." Also great! But...
How do I do that? There doesn't seem to be any instructions on how to actually accomplish this thing iTunes Help is claiming I can do, namely to be able to change the main iTunes volume (through any of several methods) and have that not affect the speakers I have hooked up through my Airport Express.
I'm well aware I can do this by switching to iTunes, clicking on the Zoom button if I've got iTunes minimized, clicking on the little "speaker" icon (though how that looks like a speaker I'm not sure), choosing "multiple speakers," and dragging the "Computer" slider. OR, if I can figure out how to make iTunes do what the help linked above claims I can, I can just use my Synergy hotkeys to change the volume with a tap on my keyboard.

I'm also suffering from skipping/sped up music, only when streaming certain internet radio stations to my Express (for example, friskyRadio in the electronica section). Mine's setup not to distribute IP addresses, if that's relevant.
Other than installing iTunes version 7 (now at 7.0.1) nothing has changed on my network, or on my computer.

  • How to use itunes volume control in mainstage

    Hi everyone!
I want use itunes volume control in mainstage (by slider or something). Can someone help me?

You would need to write an Applescript (there are some already under Parameter Mapping>Actions>Applescript). Check online at "dougscripts.com/itunes/itinfo/eqandvolume.php" for some scripts for changing iTunes volume. You will need to put the Applescript in the same folder the other Mainstage Applescripts are in (drive>Library>Application Support>Logic>Mainstage Scripts). I haven't tried this myself, but why not give it a go?

  • Why is my iTunes volume turned all the way down every time I launch the program?

Everytime I launch iTunes I get a warning and my iTunes volume is volume is turned all the way down. How do I fix this?

    This worked for me:
    Close iTunes
    Open Finder and navigateto: Users>YourAccountName>Library>Preferences>com.apple.iTunes.plist
Move that file to the desktop
Launch iTunes (which will create a new prefs file)
If the problem is now fixed, move that prefs file from the desktop to the Trash. There might be some personal settings in iTunes you will need to re-do.

  • How do I control itunes volume with my Apple Remote?

    Hey,
I have been using the Apple remote for a while now, but recently i have got a airplay device, for which the volume from the mac can be controlled only by the itunes volume slider and not the mac volume.
can someone please guide as to how i can change the itunes volume with the remote?

I don't know how to do it with the actual silver Apple Remote. However with the Remote app on you phone then the volume control is at the bottom just like normal. When you use the Airplay symbol to send the content to the airplay device say Apple TV you can use the volume slider to control the volume.

  • Why can't I change my iTunes volume with new ver. 11, stuck at 50%?

On my iMac only, my laptops are working just fine, since version 11 was installed, regardless of source playing, music, movie, I can not change the main volume in iTunes.  The slider is fixed and stuck at 50%.  No matter which way I drag the slider control it springs back to 50%.  Can anyone tell me how to correct this issue please?  I've checked iTunes preferences several times but to no avail.  Help is greatly appreciated.  Regards, Tom

sberman, many thanks to you, your reply inadvertantly triggered a set of "More Like This" questions to be displayed and amongst those was a near identical discription to my issue.  The solution offered there had its roots glued to the Red Alarm widget.  If it was still "on" it would be controlling iTunes volume. Sure enough my alarm was blinking away and I didn't even know (funny that I couldn't hear it going off).  Gratefully yours, Tom

  • ITunes volume changes itself / Can't Force Quit.

My iTunes volume changed itself to a third of the way up, and now I can't change it. If I move the volume slider it just automatically goes back to where it was. I also can't force quit iTunes! It even won't let me shut down because of it. Any ideas?

Open Activity Monitor in Application/Utilities. You can monitor your applications there to see how much CPU or real memory they are using. Selecting the CPU column will sort the highest on top for easy viewing. You can also force quit an application in Activity Monitor.
Another option to Force quit is to use the commands. Command-Option-Esc. This brings up a Force Quit window.
Since the symptoms affect many applications, I would first download and install the latest Apple combo updater. They install over the same version and will go back and refresh all files unlike an incremental updater that only adds new files. If the combo doesn't work, you might need to do an "Archive & Install".

  • ITunes volume lowers when I received Facebook chat message

This just happened for the first time tonight. Whenever I receive a message on Facebook chat, my iTunes volume drops very far. I can still hear it, but barely. And a while after the message is sent it comes back to full volume.
Is there some way I can turn this off? It's terribly annoying.

    Hi there,
I think I found the answer. If you go to Control Panel, then hardware and sound. Click on Sound, then go to the communications tab. If I'm correct, what should be selected is that Windows reduces all other sounds by 80% when it detects communication activity. What I'm guessing is that the facebook chat 'pop' you hear is taken by Windows to be incoming communication warranting a reduction in sound. Change this to 'Do Nothing', and you should be all good.

  • Option to disable iTunes volume control for remote speakers?

I have noticed that with iTunes 10, the option to disable the volume control for remote speakers seems to have disappeared from Preferences>Devices. If you click the "?" button, the help window gives an explanation of what its for but the option to check/uncheck it clearly isn't there. Since iTunes 10, streaming my music from my iMac to my Denon receiver via Airtunes/Airplay with an Airport Express has been disappointing. The volume is far too low. With version 9 and every version prior, the volume control option was always there in preferences and I always had it disabled; music came through loud and clear but since this option appears to no longer exist, the volume through the Denon receiver fails to impress, even with the iTunes volume slider at max.
Anyone else noticed steaming volume too low? If so, agree that it's a bug?
Message was edited by: Brian I.

I wholeheartedly agree with "I also used to disable the volume control to reduce the amount that my computer interferes with the sound before it gets to the external DAC." There is no reason why Apple shouldn't restore this important setting option as the volume control does negatively affect sound quality in a high-end set-up and we'd rather not just take their word for it that the volume control's maximum setting is the same as disabling it. Why does the volume slider change the output level even when using the Airport Express' digital output? It shouldn't, and it seems the sound is now being force sent through a stupid digital volume control for no good reason. If for no other reason the "disable" option should be restored to avoid inadvertent volume changes via the Remote app for iPod Touch and iPhone. Strangely as compared to several other posts here, my perceived volume level now seems louder than before, not softer as others are reporting. People that are serious about sound quality do not want iTunes or AirPlay (formerly AirTunes) to manipulate the volume level or any other aspect of the sound at all ever, as it can't help but only hurt. I also thought the "disable" setting was available in the Airport Utility previously, but it's vanished from there too.

  • Controlling itunes volume (airplay speakers) in menu bar.

I would like to ask how I can control the iTunes volume on the menu bar when I play a song through my airport express plugged speakers.
I sometimes want to suddeny turn them down when I get a call but to also put on headphones and listen to a video retaining the music through the air play speakers for others in the office..
The only way I can do this to manually go to the itunes window to turn it down, must be a better way.
    Any suggestions?

    Dear AA101,
you can try this app iTunes Volume Control. This should allow you to do what you need by means of keyboard hotkeys and apple remote, as well.
