ITunes w/ other MP3 players

I just purchased an iPod touch. My children have cheap MP3 players. I do not want to manage multiple music libraries and playlists. Is there any way to use iTunes to sync other non Apple MP3 players?

iTunes does not natively support players other than an iPod. But you may be able to get direct support by using iTunes Agent. Give it a try; it may work for you. Note that the tracks in iTunes must be in a format the kids' players can handle; if they're not now in an appropriate format, you'll need to have iTunes make new versions of the tracks in the format the player needs.
You can also just use the procedure provided by the player, getting the tracks directly out of the iTunes Music folder.
Regards.

I am SICK and tired of my iPod not working correctly... I want to buy another MP3 player... can I use the iTunes songs (that I already paid a ridiculous amount of money on) with systems other than apple?

Purchases from the store are in protected AAC format which will not be compatible with anything but an iPod. If you change your purchase to mp3 format, you will have to burn to an audio CD, use the audio CD to re-import as mp3.
I nearly forgot this link from Scott P. & Hudgie which will explain iTunes compatibility with non-iPod devices. Unfortunately, the short answer is that they won't work.

  • Using other MP3 players with ITunes

Can anyone give me some guidance? My little girl wants an ipod after having great fun listening to my ipod shuffle. All my music is now stored on iTunes so the question is; does itunes support any other MP3 players or will it only support ipods - I was going to buy her a cheap £15 player.
Any help would be gratefully recieved.

    JoJo70,
To elaborate slightly on what polydorus said, cheap mp3 players play mp3 format files only, full stop. The one I have used (in the same price range you are talking about) connects to the PC via USB, and opens in Windows as a folder. You can then copy/paste files into it, or delete files that are already in it. It truly does not care if iTunes is present or not.
To your comment that "All my music is now stored on iTunes": not really. Your music is stored on your hard drive, and iTunes only contains a library that points to it. There is no reason you can't use the same song files for some non-iTunes purpose, and that is what you will be doing with your daughter's player.
Sooner or later however, she will want an iPod.

  • SHARING SONGS WITH OTHER MP3 PLAYERS

Does anyone know if there is a way to share songs with other MP3 players, such as the Dell DJ?
That is wat I used to have before i got my iPod and i would like to get the 2500 songs off of that and onto my new iPod.
    Thanks for the help.

Does the Dell come with any software to move songs to a PC? If you can do that, you can add any MP3s from it into the iTunes Library. Google for software for the Dell or try the Dell forums to see if anyone there has an answer.

  • Is the new earpods support bass in other mp3 players?

Is the new earpods support bass in other mp3 players?

The new earpods should support extended bass noise with other devices as it is not a software eq but the actual physical response of the speaker inside the earpod.
    Hope it helps

  • Is this earpods match with other mp3 players?

Is this earpod match with other mp3 players and produce its effects?

It uses the industry standard 3.5 mm plug, so it should work with all other MP3 players or electronics that make use of the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
However, the remote and Mic probably wont' work with them though.

  • Itunes and other mp3 plyers

i got a creative zen for ny birthday and was asking for a ipod but oh well. i have a lot of music on my itunes. and for the life of my i cant figure out how to get my music in itunes over to my mp3 help me please someone

Ok first off there is not going to be a good way sync a non apple mp3 palyer to iTunes. Here are your options
    - If the music you have was purchased though the iTunes music store then no other MP3 player will be able to play them. You will have to burn it to a CD and then import the files as MP3 files. Then you should be able to point your MP3 player software to where ever iTuens is saving your music lib. Be sure you only copy over the MP3 files and not the m4p, m4b, or m4a files. They will only play on iPods and though iTunes.
    - If you music is all MP3 files you RIPPED from CDs then you should be able to just point your MP3 palyer software to where ever iTuens is saving your music files and sync it.
Either way if you copy new music file from your music player to your PC you will need to re-add the folder they were added from to iTunes or iTuens will not see them.

  • Putting purchased itune music on other mp3 players

my kids each have an ipod nano and my wife an ordinary mp3 player I need to know how to convert itunes mp4 music to play in mp3 music

You can use iTunes to convert any copy protection free songs (iTunes Plus) in your library another format. When you convert a song in iTunes it will be converted to the format that you have set to import your CDs in. Converting creates a second copy of the song in the format you have chosen which gives you the opportunity to either keep or delete the original. If you are using iTunes 8 go to Edit>Preferences>General and click on Import Settings, change your option to MP3 for example. Go back to your library and highlight the songs you want to convert and go to the Advanced menu at the top of your iTunes window and choose "Create MP3 version": iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format
The exception to this are standard AAC 128 kbps copy protected songs (if you haven't upgraded to iTunes Plus versions) purchased from the iTunes Music Store which can't be directly converted due to the DRM (Digital Rights Management) copy protection. However you can burn these to an Audio CD which will work like any regular CD.

  • Can you use other mp3 players with itunes?

I was wondering if you could use the Windows Zune with itunes...
      Windows XP

Does anyone know if I already have itunes on my computer and I load up zune software, will zune crash or corrupt my itunes music or ipod?
Can they live on the same computer?

  • Playing unprotected ripped tunes on other MP3 players?

My friend has an ipod formatted for Windows. She set the preferences to import files in an MP3 format. She ripped (imported) unprotected songs, in this iTunes MP3 format, from CDs.
They played on her iPod, no problem.
But when she tried to import them into a generic (non-Apple ipod) MP3 player those files would not import.
She was told by the manufacturer of this generic player that iTunes MP3 files are not true MP3 files.
    Is this accurate?
Also, read in another discussion that others have had this problem and that using Windows Media to rip an iTunes burned CD would be the way to go. This is what was written:
"The only way I have found to use iTunes songs on my MP3 is to burn my playlist to disk using Itunes burn disk. Then using windows media player version 11 "rip" the CD to the library. This will put it in a wma format that can be read by you MP3."
Is that the only way around this problem or is there some easier way to get unprotected iTunes imported songs to play in a non-ipod player?
    Thanks, Panther

She was told by the manufacturer of this generic player that iTunes MP3 files are not true MP3 files.
    Is this accurate?
No. They are regular and "true" mp3 files.
Make sure the files are RIP'd with a compatible bitrate for the mp3 player.

  • ITunes and generic MP3 players?

Is there a utility that can take an exported iTunes playlist (XML) and copy all the files referenced therein to a folder on my computer (or direct to my generic MP3 player)?
All my tracks are MP3 so I have no DRM / m4p issues.
iTunes can burn a data CD / DVD that can then be copied manually, but that's really quite time consuming when the ultimate destination is a flash drive.

Don't bother with the XML file. Open the playlist in iTunes, Edit > Select All, and drag them to the folder where you want the copies to be.

  • Itunes and Creative MP3 players

If I am using and ipod and itunes on my computer, Can I also transfer tracks to a creative brand mp3 player? If I download ITunes on another computer, would it be compatialbe with Creative Zen extra player

+thanks,is there a way to limit song searches to DRM free songs?+
Yes. The easiest way would be to do your online shopping at stores that *only sell DRM-free songs!* That includes amazon.com and audiolunchbox.com. The sell in MP3 format, which is fully compatible with both an iPod and a Creative. And no DRM in sight.
There are other stores that sell a mix of DRM and DRM-free songs, and if you shop at one of them you will need to be very attentive. That includes the iTunes Music Store, walmart.com, and the Zune Marketplace. For example, in the iTunes Music Store you would watch for the Plus sign which indicates DRM-free.

  • Windows not recognizing ipod at all, but recognises other MP3 players.

I just bought a ipod nano red 4 GB from a friend. I looked at the settings on the ipod and it is set to windows. When I connect the ipod to windows with an apple power cord I get "USB Device Not Recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message." But when it is connected it charges. so i don't know how it can be malfunctioning. this happened on two computers.

Since the iPod seems to be recognised on other comps then it does sould as if the problem is with the comp rather than the iPod itself.
Make sure the iPod is fully charged before you start.
Try creating a new user account on the comp which won't recognise the iPod and use that account.
Go through the apple 5R's, be sure to uninstall iTunes and the iPod software with the iPod disconnected from the comp and when you reinstall do so with the iPod disconnected and only connect the iPod when the software prompts you to do so or after the install has completed. You might like to reboot the PC after you've uninstalled the iTunes and iPod software and reboot again after you've completed the reinstall. Follow apple's instructions to the letter.
If you still don't get it to work you will need to consider reinstalling XP and starting over with a clean install.
    Hope that helps.

  • Any other mp3 players work with seagate

any one know other players that works with the seagate st hard dri've. The hard dri've that works with the zen micro?

ollyp wrote:This may be stupid but what would happen if you swapped the hard dri'ves round, would it behave as a rio carbom/dell dj but with the quality of the zen micro. or just not work at all.
You'd probably need to reformat the disk, but as the operating system is contained in the player's ROM, not the hard disk, and the hardware is fundamentally different, it wouldn't make any difference. Don't expect your player to turn into something else!!!
