ITunes wants to delete my music. I don't want it to...

I have recently put in a new harddrive as my old one clapped out.
I have just installed the new iTunes and connected my iPod and its telling me that my new iTunes isn't the right one for my iPod.
If I want to sync it with this version, it will have to delete all the stuff on my iPod.
Is there any way around this? The old iTunes I used was lost on my old harddrive?
If not, is there anyway I can get all of my songs off my iPod by acessing it as a hard disc drive before I sync it with the new iTunes?

Presumably you didn;t use it very often.
June 2011:
iWeb publishing, MobileMe Gallery, and iDisk will all disappear as the company sunsets its current online service in favor of iCloud.
Other MobileMe services—including syncing of Mac Dashboard widgets, keychains, Dock items, and System Preferences—will not be part of iCloud, Apple says. Those syncing services will stop working as soon you migrate from MobileMe to iCloud. In addition, Apple says that while MobileMe members can no longer upgrade to a Family Pack or buy additional MobileMe storage, Family Pack members will be able to transition their accounts to iCloud individually, as long as it’s done before June 30, 2012.

August 2012:
As of today, visitors to MobileMe.com are no longer given the option to convert their accounts to iCloud or to retrieve old photos and files, with Apple now simply pointing users to iCloud.

  • How do I delete duplicate songs in my iTunes? I have hundreds and I don't want to delete them one by one. They were all added on the same date, so sorting by the date won't help.

Hi, if this is in regards to your library simply open up itunes and do the following steps:
    Click File
    Scroll down to "show duplicates"
A list will then appear of your duplicate song titles.
Be sure to CAREFULLY review each song to make sure it is a duplicate ( as I have some music that is the same song but live, acoustic etc...)
Proceed to manually delete each song from the list and leave alone any song that you wish to keep.
    Best of luck,
    Cait

  • I want to delete all music not Syncing, iTune want to delete everything

I want to delete all music in my iPhone to gain space as I do not use it for listening music anyway.
My old computer was stolen and now when I plug my iPhone in itune and try syncing ZERO music it say it will erease everything.
I fear it will remove my Apps, apps data, photo and most importantly I fear it will change the order of my icons.
I do not have ticked anything but "Sync music" will it delete all music or EVERYTHING ?
Someone told me I should use WinSCP to delete the file manually,
Any help would be greatly apreciated.

I believe MediMonkey will do that. It requires iTunes to be installed, but you don't need to open iTunes or anything.
    http://www.mediamonkey.com/information/free/
It is free but only available for PC and not for mac.
I used to use it when I had a PC, and I think you can just select all the iPhone music on it and delete it.

  • On Maps, on my iPad, I have 10 saved routes. How do I delete one that I don't want?

On Maps, on my iPad, I have 10 saved routes. How do I delete one that I don't want?

You cannot delete/remove apps from your App Store purchases. They will remain there forever but they are not necessarly still on the device. You can hide your past purchases but need to do so using iTunes.
    See: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4919
As was mentioned, just because they are showing in your purchases, it does not mean that they are on the device. If you have deleted them from the device and are no longer on the device, they are not using any of your device's storage. You'l' have to look elsewhere to see what is taking up the space you are missing.
Check Settings>General>Usage, then tap on Show all Apps to get an idea of what is physically on the device (Apps, Music, Photos, Videos, etc.)

  • Latest Software of iOS 7.0.3 Wont install even when I have deleted all  applications.I don't want to buy more memory

Latest Software of iOS 7.0.3 Wont install even when I have deleted all  applications.I don't want to buy more memory as I have already done.

What model iPad and what iOS version is it currently running?
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.

  • Can't find a playlist I created on my playlist or computer? I didn't delete it. I don't want to create it again because it took a long time. please help me find and recover.

Can't find a playlist I created on my playlist or computer? I didn't delete it. I don't want to create it again because it took a long time. please help me find and recover.

Playlists only exist as part of the larger iTunes library listing so if you are not seeing it there it doesn't exist anywhere else.  I know with my older version of iTunes it is very easy to accidentally delete a playlist.  With newer versions it may be possible to recover it with the undo feature in the menu but this likely will only work immediately after the deletion.

You might want a more Mac-centric version of that post which is directed more at Windows users.
iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here (you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well):
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
Senuti Mac Only (iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
expod Mac Only (iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
TuneAid Mac only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide

  • I've updated my phone and I've made a backup. but now it says I must enter my code to restore all my files and I haven't got this code. If I cancel the process or choose something else, all my stuff will be deleted, and I really don't want that.

I've updated my phone and I've made a backup. but now it says I must enter my code to restore all my files and I haven't got this code. If I cancel the process or choose something else, all my stuff will be deleted, and I really don't want that.
    HELP ME PLEASE!!!

If, for some reason, your backup got encrypted and you don't know the code, you'll have to set up your phone as new device and start all over again without the backup.
Warning: If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and then forget your password, you will not be able to restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable. If you forget the password, you can continue to back up and use the device, however you will not be able to restore the encrypted backup to any device without the password. You do not need to enter the password for your backup each time you back up or sync.
If you cannot remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore, choose set up as a new device.
If you can't get pass the lock screen, connect in recovery mode and restore the phone, you'll have the option to reset the lock secreen passcode.
iOS: Unable to update or restore and iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.

  • I'm trying to sync my old ipad to itues on my laptop but it keeps saying ipad synced with another iTunes library what can I do I don't want to lose these photos?

I'm trying to sync my old ipad to itues on my laptop but it keeps saying ipad synced with another iTunes library what can I do I don't want to lose these photos?

You can only sync an ipad to one computer at a time.
You can look to something like dropbox, upload your photos there, then do the sync and since your photos are backed up it won't hurt if they are deleted.

  • HT1473 My girlfriend and I both have iTunes account with our own music libraries and we want to combine our two libraries into one icloude accounts so can both then access our one shared libary at anytime in the cloud.  How do we do this?

My girlfriend and I both have iTunes account with our own music libraries and we want to combine our two libraries into one icloude accounts so can both then access our one shared libary at anytime in the cloud.  How do we do this?

No it is not possible.  Content purchased from the iTunes Store is permanently tied to the account from which it was originally purchased, and Apple does not provide a way to change it.

  • How do I delete a photo from an album?  I don't want to ctrl   delete b/c I don't want to delete it forever.  It just landed in the wrong album (there is a copy in the correct album and the wrong album)

I've got photos organized into projects by year, folder by month and then broken into albums within the months (mom of young kids).  When I was creating albums yesterday, I didn't notice a little box that says "do you want to put selected photos in album?"  So every time I created a new album, it put the photo that I had been working on in that album.  I want that photo (in the album in which it belongs), so I don't want to ctrl+delete.  But I don't want that photo in 10 other albums.  How can I get it out of the albums where I don't want it?

In addition to johngrussel's suggestion the delete key by itself will run the Remove from Album comand.
Note that's the delete key with no modifier.Command-delete will delete the version from the project.

  • How can I find itunes 10.1 for windows.  I don't want the cloud in newer version.

How can I find iTunes 10.1 for windows.  I don't want the cloud, and my iPod touch won't go back to prior versions.

Had the same problem. Also worked fine on my MacBook, but not on my new iMac. Here's what I did to fix it:
Archive and Reinstall Mac OS (takes about 40 minutes). This reverted my system back to 10.6.2. Just pop in your Mac OS disc that came with your computer. Mine had 10.6.2 on it, and "Archive and Install" is the default option. When it's done, run software update and update everything. Now it all works fine.
Somewhere along the way, some file got corrupted somehow. But doing an "archive and install" of your OS undoes whatever file damage was incurred, and allows everything to update normally via Software Update as it should.

  • Are there ANY compatibility issues with Itunes 12.0.1 and Mavericks?  Don't want to download Yosemite.  Not hearing good things about it.

Are there ANY compatibility issues with Itunes 12.0.1 and Mavericks?  Don't want to download Yosemite.  Not hearing good things about it.  I'm on Mavericks 10.9.5.

one obstacle, quickly removed. thank you.
nomenclature aside for a moment, 10.6.8 is correct but maybe more is necessary about the MacBook Pro: it is 'old': Identifier: 1.2, Intel Core Duo, 2.16 GHz, 1 Processor, L2 2 MB, RAM 2 GB.
i hope that is enough to get an answer to this: is it unadvisable to update its OS; in other words, if i update to 10.9, will the machine be able to handle it, 'speedwise'?
