ITunes wants to start another app?
A while back I installed an iTunes helper app. I can't remember what it was but it was something to upload 'now playing info' to the web or something similar. To cut a long story short, it wasn't very good so I uninstalled it. However, every time I start iTunes, it tries to find it before it will start. To make matters worse, I mis-clicked the other day and it now opens an app within one of my VMWare virtual machines every time I start iTunes
It's driving me mad! Please could someone tell me where the link between iTunes and this app would be so I can sever it and preserve my sanity?

Just thought I'd let ya know I found the problem - in case anyone else has this issue here.
It was an issue with Digidesign & iTunes/Quicktime.
I needed to update a Core Audio Driver - so that things would be happy with the latest versions of iTunes & Quicktime.
I went to Digidesign's web site - over to the support section - then to the download section & found the latest Core Audio Driver for my system - installed the driver - rebooted - clicked on iTunes & life was good again.

ITunes wants to start up - but doesn't...
Hey there.
Today my iTunes decided to misbehave - here's what's happening:
Whenever I try to launch iTunes - it looks like it wants to launch - but nothing comes up on the screen.
If I look in the dock - iTunes seems to be running - and it gives me the options of "Force quitting" - yet nothing appears on my desktop.
If I put my ipod into the dock - the ipod shows up on the desktop - but still no iTunes.
So far I have done the following:
1. Ran the Disk Utility & repaired permissions
2. Ran Disk Warrior & rebuilt the directory
3. Removed iTunes & re installed it (the latest version).
4. Rebooted, rebooted, rebooted...
Nothing seems to be working.
When I try to shut the system down - it hangs & waits for me to "Force Quit" iTunes (only if I had tried to launch it previously). As soon as I "Force Quit" iTunes - eveything else proceeds as normal.
I'm open to suggestions.

I have also done all the software updates that are out there.
My machine is a QS 867 with 1.5 Gig ram

I have a new ipad2. Cannot set up AT&T it keeps saying the email is already in use. Don't want to set up a new email address just for AT&T
You may have more than one device using your Apple account (as I did).
Some of my messages ended up on an idle iPad I had left at home.
Most, however, just stopped sending.
Various work arounds have been posted here and there.
It appears that a text message preference gets messed up.
The simplest work around that usually works (but not always, for me), is to turn off messages, reboot your devices, and then turn it back on. I also tried another suggestion to toggle off the iCloud settings and reboot. Both had the same effect. It worked for a day or two and then I had to do it again.
You may want to enable MMS and SMS texting, which usually work, even when iMessages won't.
iMessages have a blue background. MMS have a green background and you're service provider may charge you for MMS or SMS texts.

Where is my serial number on the Photoshop Elements 6. Not on box. Only a bar code sticker = which I tried and did not work either. Not inside on disk. not on inside cover of disk case. I purchased the product on Dec 31, 2007 at Staples. I installed on January 3, 2008. Now I can not reinstal without the serial number. I am very frustrated. I have been waiting for an answer for three days now. I tried everything on your web page help site. Still no serial number. Help.
If you had already installed PSE and registered it, you should be able to find your serial number by going to the main page of adobe.com, clicking on My Adobe (up at the top right side of the page last time I checked, but it moves around), then working your way down through the links there.

I am new to trying AppleScript. I use gnupg and want to start an app called "gpg-agent" located in /usr/local/bin/ . I want to pass it an arg, something like --daemon and maybe another ... first I want to see if it is even running ...
But when I compile, AppleScript prompts me to locate gpg-agent. That browse function only lists certain folders and never hidden nor /usr/ ....

I have upgraded to Firefox 7 and now when I start Firefox with my shortcut on Vista it starts. But when I want to start another copy (instance) of Firefox, nothing happens. With Firefox 5 it was working?
The strange thing is that if I do that, first copy of Firefox is nuable to close. It is not visible when I close it, but it remains in processes so I can't start Firefox again. I must kill it in Task manager first.See "Hang at exit":

How to create backup file on itunes for ipod touch 4g game apps data? Is there a way to do it? I want to try an app on my friend's computer, but you can't add apps on another computer without having your own ipod's data being deleted. Thx for any help!

You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac. You should be able to set a password for it. Save it. Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer, I suppose, back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity. As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro

and re-authorize your new macBook Pro
time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine and go for it. You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups of your stuff. -
I want to get another 4s and use it not as a phone, but only as a video camera and editor and hook it up only to wifi. i would sync it to itunes so i can pay for apps and upload. would this work, or must it be connected to a phone carrier?
Trust me when I say this coming from 20 years of experience.
Get a powered external drive, format it 1 Partition Option: GUID and OS X Extended Journed as the format in Disk Utility.
Download and install Carbon Copy Cloner, clone internal drive to external drive.
Set a schedule to remind you to do it at least once a week, keep it near your charger.
When you plug your charger in, do plug the clone and power the machine up, set the display to sleep only,
CCC will do the rest.
If you want to boot from it, hold the option/alt and select it Startup Manager.
I've seen many TimeMachine and TimeCapsule nightmares and so far haven't seen a problem from anyone using a bootable clone.
It's simple, it's easy, it's more reliable and more powerful than what Apple does and it only takes plugging in a extra cable.
Make as many clones as you want, keep them time seperated, off site etc. etc.
Cables don't have network issues, clones can be verified in seconds merely by booting from them.
Clones protect your productivity, your up in seconds on a clone despite even the hard drive dying.
Software problem? No sweat, boot of the clone and reverse clone your problems away.
If you want to fuss and muss with half implemented TimeMachine and TimeCapsule network headaches then prepare to suffer.
I don't like to suffer, I bought a Mac not to suffer, but it appears you do with TimeMachine and TimeCapsule.

I want to use free apps on Ipad 2, but it continually asks me to submit a credit card in Itunes. I do not wish to purchase anything apps or music. I am only interested in free apps. If I were to make purchases, I would use a prepaid card like an itunes card or an app card, but NEVER a credit card. I can't seem to bypass this option of using a credit card and need to. I have another Ipad 4 and have never needed to use my credit card to migrate past itunes to use any apps. How do I get past this credit card request and still use my ipad 2. According to my Ipad 2, if I don't plug in a credit card, I can't even use free apps which is stupid.
You can create an iTune and App Store account without credit card details
1. Sign out of current Apple ID if you are sign-in to one (important)
2. Go to App Store and select a free app
3. Tap INSTALL APP
4. Create New Apple ID
5. Confirm Your Country
6. Agree with Terms and Conditions
7. Fill in your Apple ID and Password (you must create a new Apple ID; don't use your old Apple ID)
8. Create and answer your secret question
9. Select NONE for Payment Method
10. Fill in Billing Address
11. Submit application for new Apple ID
12. Wait for verification email
13. When email arrive, verify your account
14. Start downloading your free apps -
The email that iTunes wants me to sign into is my mums which is weird because my mum has never touched my ipod so i don't why iTunes is asking me to sign into her account.
I've tried finding ways to change it but i can't seam to.
Another thing is that when i download an app, iTunes manages to get the email right and the box pops up with my email account and not my mums.
Please help me change this because i cannot update my apps.

- To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
To change the login
- Go to settings>Store and sign out and sign into your account.
You may have apps purchased with her account that need updating. -

Just get copies of the song files and add them to your iTunes library. With the exception of any DRM-protected files (purchased before mid-2009 and never upgraded) they will play fine, even though they are technically associated with the original account.
