ITunes 5(0.1) no longer asks for a second time.
You can see the total play time at the bottom of the iTunes window.

  • HT1349 When you buy an audiobook from iTunes where do you open it to hear it?

When you buy an audiobook from iTunes, where do you open it to start reading it.

If you download or sync an audiobook to the iPad then you can listen to it in the Music app - when their audiobooks on the iPad you should get an Audiobooks option under the More button at the bottom of the Music app.
Note that audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store, so if you buy any directly on the iPad you may want to connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11) so that you can take a backup copy.

    smg123 where are you?
I have a question related to post:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=31&thread=347231
Was the dll ever completed and is it available?
I know smg123 changed usernames last year because of password problems...but I haven't seen that username (smg123NewAndImproved) since December.

although i still would like to see if that dll was ever made, I was able to do what I needed on my own, creating a shortcut in windows from java.

  • @ Nokia - where are you?

OK, so as this is the official Nokia Support Discussions forum I'm wondering  where is the input from Nokia addressing all the many, many complaints from disgruntled owners of Nokia devices after this screwed-up Belle 'update'?

Even if I'm not as satisfied with Belle (yet) as with Anna or previous Eseries platforms, I don't think it's fair to complain so much and blame Nokia for Belle, being "horrible", "non-user friendly", "step backward" and other negative adverbs.
Belle's been out for 2 weeks and getting used to the new UI takes some time. Some may like it immediately (I do), some need some time, others don't like it. There will always be people complaining. These same people will "not buy Nokia ever again" and will rather buy iPhone. Well, let's wait for a week and they'll login to the Apple's discussion forum asking "how is it possible that my XY app doesn't sync with my WZ software" or "this is much easier to do with Nokia, hey Apple, where are you guys?". Finally, "I overpayed this iStuff and expected it to work. I'll never buy an iPhone again.". That's life.
Think about - it's a nice gesture from Nokia to offer a FREE upgrade to Belle. It was OUR decision to upgrade, Nokia didn't made us to do it. Perhaps it would be wiser to make Belle payable (couple of euros, make it 20). THEN people should read the specs, what it features and decide if it fulfills the expectations. Making a formal complaint (reclamation) would be reasonable since you payed for it. And Nokia would benefit $$ and could actually pay the SW engineers from this income. But it was for free.
Personally, I like the interface and overall performance - it's smooth(er), battery life is extended, it's easier to control the BT, 3G, Wifi as some examples. I realized some bugs but am sure they'll fix them. I'm annoyed about Wifi bug, absence of remaining characters in SMS messages, but I think I'll survive.
I'm sure "Nokia" is following our discussions but releasing fixes every week is not even possible, reasonable nor feasible. Take time, get a buglist not only from 100 non-satisfied users but from larger pool of users and focus on the most important ones. These phones must work in Germany, California, Hongkong, Christchurch, Novosibirsk, Tahiti, Patagonia,... different languages, fonts, mobile network properties, operators -- you know what I mean?

It is not in iTunes on your iPad.
I have all sorts of options to look formusicandmovies and photos butthere is no"advanced" settings, and thereis no "file - settings - advanced".
Because it is in iTunes on your computer because that is what AppleTV uses to play videos.

Where are the smiley faces and symbols for texting?

On the emoji keyboard. Go to Settings>General>Keyboard>Add Keyboard and select emoji. Then you will have a small globe key near the number key on the left side of the keyboard. This will allow for selecting between the regular keyboard and the emoji keyboard.

  • ITUNES Support Staff - WHERE ARE YOU???

In the past few weeks, way too many people have posted problems burning CDs with a variety of error codes in the 4000 range.
    *THIS IS AN ITUNES PROBLEM.*
Please read the threads and offer us a SOLUTION.
    Thank you.

As the terms of use that we all agreed to state, these forums are user to user only. Apple personnel may read the posts, but it's not guaranteed, and they almost never reply and never (that I've seen) for providing official technical support. So you will not get a response from Apple support personnel here. If you want to talk directly to Apple support technicians, you need to call Apple tech support.
I see you've started another thread on the topic. If you'll post more details in that thread as to what specifically you have indeed tried (so people don't offer redundant advice), someone may have some useful advice to offer.

  • 10.8.4 where are you

cannot wait for 10.8.4 to be released cause 10.8.3 is not working on mine machine so frustrating so best option now to wait any one give me a clue when the next version comes out so my computer works a1 ok again?

Here are some suggestions for getting the best results from this site.
Give details of the problem. Don't just state your conclusion as to what's causing it. A remark such as "I think I have a virus," or "I got an error," or "X doesn't work" conveys no information. If X did work, you wouldn't be here. Instead, you should post something like this: "I did A; I was expecting B; but I got C instead." Include the complete text of any error messages you saw and where you saw them: in an application window, a CrashReporter window, a log, or whatever. Also include the steps you’ve taken yourself, if any, to try to resolve the issue. If the problem is of recent origin, did you make any changes to your setup just before you first noticed it? Is the problem reproducible or intermittent? That is, does it always manifest itself when you take a certain action, or only at unpredictable times?
Before posting, ask yourself whether it’s likely that you are the the only person ever to have had this problem. If not, search the discussions for answered questions similar to yours. If you found any pertinent information, but it didn't help, include details.
Post in the most relevant discussion area. Usually that means the area for the type of Mac you're using, if the problem is hardware-related, or for the OS X version you’re running, if it’s more software-related. Some other Apple products, such as Safari, iTunes, and iPhoto, have their own forums.
If asking about third-party software, specify what it is, the website where you got it (if applicable), and what version you have. Ask the developer for help first. Include the results of that contact in your message: what you were told and what you did.

  • TERMinal In Association WITH ITUNes** Where Are The Answers CAPTAIN CORK&&&

    PLEASE HELP CAP
Im wondering if anyone can help me. I recently got a reply to a post that I wrote about deleting duplicated files. Mainly MP3s. I have not done this method yet though. Does it work? I have around 9000 mp3s that Itunes seems to always duplicate and I need to get rid of them. Can I open one of my ex-Harddrives that pretty much hold mp3s and run this command? Im looking for a completely faster method than individually deleting them in Itunes. One last question too. Where do I type this command? If anyone can help me Id greatly appreciate it. The reply is below my name
    Jamie
    posternut:
If none of the original filenames contains the lettering " copy", you can do what you want quite easily.
Open Terminal, navigate to the folder that contains the files, and enter the following command (exactly as it appears here):
    rm *" copy"*
That's all there is to it. All 9000 duplicate files will be removed very quickly.
If you need help "navigating to the folder" or if some of your original filenames contain the lettering “ copy”, then post back here.
    Greg

For starters, titling your post with something as inane as that will only get you inane answers.
You say that iTunes duplicated your song files, so the reply given by the advice is erroneous. If the files were duplicated by Finder the advice would be halfway valid, since it would only work for one folder. Ouch
There are 2 kinds of duplicates:
    1) If you have iTunes set to "Keep music folder organized" and also "Copy song files when adding to library". Right? If so, iTunes will copy all your song files to a folder named after the artist and album in the song file's data fields. Problem is, iTunes will not delete the originals, that may be why you have 9000 songs you don't want. I typically see thousands of duplicated and unwanted song files clogging people's Macs, which is stupid.
    2) Files actually duplicated twice or more in iTunes, This happens if you add the song twice or more, or different songs have duplicate names.
Type 2 is easy to delete. Open a Finder window and press cmd-f for "Find". A special window will open. Make sure the button "Home" is selected. For "Kind" select "Music". In the field in the upper right, type "1.m" (without the quotes). iTunes renames duplicate files with a number according to the number of duplicates, so this way you can check 1,2,3,4 or any number of suspected duplicates and drag them to the trash. In a Find window, you can select all, or bulk by using command and/or shift-up/down keys.
So try that and see how many you delete. If you have many after that I will answer the kind of duplicate #1.

  • Hard Disk Memory - where are you?

I have the MacBook Air a few months now. I've had the error message 'Start up Disk Full', so I cleared off old vids etc and got a few clean up tips from YouTube videos. That's ok for now.
I've used Disk Discovery to see what level of memory is taken up in files on the hard disk. From what I can gather 37Gb is taken up by everything - user and system files etc. My system resources say I have 12Gb free and the HD is 64Gb. I can't uncover where the other 15Gb is.
So, my question is two fold - How much of my 64Gb should be taken up by system files (I assumed about 10Gb) and where can I locate the remainder of my memory?
All hints & tips welcome. I want to fill up a 32Gb iPod from my iTunes.
    Ta,
    Phil.

If you go to the Apple Menu, select "About This Mac", and click "Storage", you'll get a sense of how much everything is taking up on your Mac.
The system is going to take up about 10-15GB of space.
Here are some hints to eek out some more storage.
Download and run Monolingual. It is free and will remove all the languages you are not going to use within the OS. For me, I only speak and use English, so I removed everything but English and saved about 1.5GB of storage space.
I purchased Clean My Mac 2 and recovered almost 5GB of storage by removing junk like log files, etc. that build up within OS X. It also has a nice feature which will show you all the files that haven't been used in a long time and/or take up a lot of space. There are ways to do this manually in Finder, but this program makes it a lot more straightforward.
After installing applications I look in the app folders for crap like sample files, readme files, legal files, etc. - all the crap that gets installed that you're never going to actually use or look at. That isn't a ton of space, but good for a few hundred MB. Every little bit counts in my book.
Always keep about 10% of your storage free. The OS constantly writes/deletes information and the less free space it has to work with the slower it will perform.
    Hope this helps!

  • 1.2 firmware, where are you Apple?

Apple I am sure that you are more that aware of the problems of firmeware rev. 1.2. Are these problems that those of us are having fixable? Or is this a hardware problem and you are trying to wait until the one year warranty is gone to inform us?
To the others I have noticed that if I disable the EQ the iPod does not hang. I still get screen artifacts sometimes.

Yes I am very aware that the warranty period will be different based on your date of purchase. My point being that this problem has not been fixed, and since a lot of the new content on itunes has to have the 1.2 firmware to operate apple needs to fix this.
As far as you not haveing any problems, you are lucky. But that does not in anyway help those that have had to deal with these problems.

  • Just downloaded itunes - where are my previous purchases?

Hi, I just downloaded itunes on my PC. I have purchased many songs from itunes in the past. (However, the computer from which I made those purchases got refreshed.)
Anyway, I'm not sure what to do to see my purchases in iTunes. I have logged in. I have authorized the PC. (Currently, it is the only computer authorized.)
I don't see a Purchased folder. Why not?
If I go to Store->View my Account, I can see my recent purchase history. So why aren't those purchases visible in the folders?
    Thanks!

Your purchases will only be where you put them.  They do not magically appear on a new computer.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backcup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup , not good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Apple where are you

Apple why don't you try to help your customers, your itunes 7 update is faulty and needs fixing urgently,I can't use my machine. If you don't help me I'll never touch another Apple machine ever again!I can't believe that you are still posting this severly faulty software!

On the 17th sept there were 46,000 visiting this forum but it went blank and reappeared with only a few hundred, the problem with itunes 7 failing to recognize shuffles(the problem seems to only be occurring in this model)is very widespread but large nos of people are now buying new shuffles and nanos as the models affected are around 12 to 15 months old, and the new models are very cheap. The fault is definately itunes 7 software,my shuffle works fine on older versions. But to use itunes store and have your computer recognize itunes store downloads itunes 7 is required .You have the choice no shuffle or no downloads(and u loose all prevoiusly bought tunes until u upgrade to 7). Apple is using the same ploy as injet printer manufacturers that like to tell u their cartridges are empty when their not! Apple is telling us they want us to buy new shuffles or nanos it's pretty obvious they aren't interested it rectifying this problem!Just remember that when purchasing this brand!

  • Kindle books from ipad to macbook pro where are you?

i was syncing my ipad to my macbook pro and it asked if i wanted to send purchases to the computer.  i said yes and all the books i purchased from apple showed up in my itunes library but all the kindle books i had bought on my ipad through amazon disappeared along with Skype, some Newstand items and games I had purchased.  did apple seriously hijack my stuff?

Kindle books are linked to your Amazon account, and don't copy over to iTunes on your computer (mine never have anyway). If you want them on your computer then you can download the Kindle for Mac program and download them in that.
Apps/games that you've bought from Apple can be re-downloaded for free
