ITunes wifi sync on Windows 7 64-bit

I know there are many many threads on wifi syncing being unreliable, especially when running iTunes on windows.  I've been trying to get wifi syncing to work to my Windows 7 (64-bit) machine ever since it came out a year ago and I've finally got it working reliably.  For me the answer was to enable SNMP (through add/remove windows components).  I'm assuming SNMP is a required component for wifi syncing to work correctly.  If this is the case why doesn't apple advertise this fact?  There is no mention of SNMP in the support article on wifi syncing.  Is iTunes supposed to enable SNMP at install, and somehow it failed on my machine?  Or is SNMP not required, and it's only a coincidence that somehow turning it on on my machine fixed some other configuration problem?
In any case I hope that this post can help some other people fix their wifi sync problems.

SNMP has nothing to do with iTunes.  I think you are looking at a coincidence.

  • WiFi Sync for Windows 7 64 bit will not sync

I have had this issue for the past several months my iTunes WiFi Sync will not recognize my iPhone on my WiFi network. So, I got to plug in the phone to sync and update apps alot. I very rarely can get the phone to sync with itunes to update apps and sync photos and what not. It has been happening ever since iOS 5.1.1 was released and iTunes 10.6.3 was released ever since then and now it doesn't want to recognize my phone on my wifi network, so i can not sync it without a cord. Prior to the 5.1.1 and 10.6.3 releases the phone and itunes had no issues everything would work just fine for that short period of time when 10.6.1 and 5.0.1 was around. I am trying to see if anybody out there has had the same issue or relatively close to it and maybe give me some suggestions to what I can do now to repair the issue and get itto sync wirelessly again without issue. Thanks so much in advance for any and all suggestions and help.

You have an older Mac that has 32-bit EFI
you need to use Windows 7 32-bit or modify the DVD.
    Select CD-ROM Boot prompt
    Stuck at Select CD-Rom Boot
Hint: Windows 7 SP1 update will need 8GB free space. Windows takes at least 16-20GB. Add in page file, hibernation (each size of physical RAM). Plus any programs and data you store. Cache and temp files (1-4GB) and you get the idea. you will find you can't even login to the sytem. Seen it happen.
old wives tale: double your best guess for how much RAM, disk space, whatever, to get a more realistic.
REMOVE the partition using BCA and create 40GB, being sure to leave 20GB free for Mac OS X volume also.

  • Wow. iTunes wifi sync on Windows XP is horrible

I've given up using wifi sync.
Many times a day, iTunes pops up a message saying it cannot sync to some phone or other. But, it never says which phone or what the problem is.
At least once a week, the apsdaemon goes crazy and drives my CPU to 100% utilization. The only way to fix that is to reboot.
    I hope Apple is reading.

Well, let's see. The fact that I'd have to update my video card. The week or so it would take to install Windows 7, reinstall all of my apps, and get all of the settings correct. Trading the relatively few problems I have now with XP for a whole new set of problems. The risk that some program, driver or piece of hardware I need won't be compatible with Windows 7.
Trust me, I'm not alone. And I wouldn't be surprised if iTunes wifi sync was just as horrible on Windows 7.

  • ATH.exe: iTunes WiFi Sync on Windows is Useless

    Apple. Listen.
This isn't a question. This is a statement. You broke something. You will fix it. And you will tell us when you do.
You've seen this problem in a few dozen discussion threads already: if iTunes WiFi sync is enabled with an iOS device and you walk out of range with that device, one of your little service applications -- ATH.exe -- completely loses its mind. It starts using 100% of a processor core and blocks any further attempts to sync with the iOS device until the process is killed.
    Even on iTunes 11.
The only way to prevent it is by disabling WiFi sync entirely.
Yeah. It's an inconvenience. Piddling, really. I'm sure we're all complaining about nothing. Except -- well, a lot of us did kind of spend an awful lot of money because we happen to think your product has an edge, for whatever reason, over your Android-based competitors. It isn't so bad that we can't do the WiFi sync thing so much as it's awful that everyone else can.
Unless of course you (spent even more money and) run iTunes on a Mac. Those people probably don't have this issue. So maybe you owe us a little love. Maybe you owe it to us in a big darn hurry. Maybe you should care just a tiny bit more about the usability of one of the primary marketable features of iOS since version 5.
This isn't a question. It isn't even really a choice. You pretty much have to do it. So you will.
I'll take it as a kindness (by which I mean you'll be doing the right thing and that's the only reason you ought to do it) if you acknowledge this issue or stand out in front of it in some way. Not for me. I'm thinking a bit more of the other few million users of your gadgets who probably don't even know they have the problem because they aren't technically inclined enough to open Task Manager to figure out why their CPU fan has been roaring all day.
Do we understand each other? Wait -- no, that's a question. Yes. We do. We understand each other perfectly.
    Now get to work.

SNMP has nothing to do with iTunes.  I think you are looking at a coincidence.

I am having problems using itunes wifi syncup with windows 7 64 bit OS. I connected the cable and enabled the option under summary screen. The "syn now" is enabled now under settings -> General -> itunes wifi sync up. When i un plug the cable from my computer, it is greyout and displays "Sync will resume when XXX computer is available". Its annoying. Push some ideas !!

  • Itunes wifi synce won't work on windows 7, why?

I've tried everything to get itunes wifi synce to work on windows 7. But I don't seem to be getting it. It's not working.
I'm running Ios 5.1.1 and the latest itunes 10.6.3. Any solution about getting itunes wifi synce to work.
I'm open for any solution and will try al l of them.

I've been dealing with this issue for quite sometime now, keep going back to the same suggestions over and over from here and other sources. The common thing I see here is having the bonjour services restarted to get things working correctly. Being on windows 7 64x I didn't have a problem before. Something changed though. Today I though of "hey what about running as admin" since it seems some programs require admin running status to work properly. So in Task Manager under the Processes, (have show processes from all users checked) Anything that has to do with iTunes/Apple/Mobile/etc. I right clicked> Properties>Compatibility>Run as Admin.
So far this has solved my issue. Hope this helps others.

  • Itunes wifi sync not working on windows 8!!

Does itunes wifi sync works on windows 8? Because i already have enabled wifi sunc but after i disconnect the cable from the ilhone it doesnt aloud me to do sync via wifi.  Does anyone know how to make it work properly on windows 8?

Interesting. I still haven't had any problems with iTunes 10.7 under Windows 8 Pro, including adding music files purchased from a 3rd party source (Amazon) and buying an album through iTunes. iTunes successfully matched the Amazon-purchased MP3's, and I was able download the iTunes AAC's to replace them. The only thing not typical about my set-up that I can think of is that I have iTunes installed on my B: drive--both the program files and the iTunes Media folder--not on my C: drive (an SSD). My library sounds about the same size as yours (~4,000 songs).
(My only Windows 8 problem has been with DVD playback and the Windows 8 Store Netflix and Hulu apps. It looks like the new AMD graphics card drivers don't seem to be passing HDCP tests under Windows 8. There are simple work-arounds--watching Netflix or Hulu in a web browser--so at this point, I'm just waiting.)
Good luck with your iTunes issues.

  • I cannot sync to itunes on my computer (Windows Vista 32 bit) with my mini conected.

I cannot sync to itunes on my computer (Windows Vista 32 bit) with my mini connected. What should I do?
My Mini will not boot up. I tried holding both buttons down.  I got a "connect to itunes" message. I connected. and nothing happens.

    Hello there Chess-ster,
If I understand correctly your iPad mini is not being recognized in iTunes on your Windows Vista PC. I would recommend you use the troubleshooting in the following article:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows
Start with these steps and work your way down as needed:
    Restart
Turn off your computer and your iOS device, then turn them on again.
    Update your computer
Check to make sure that you've installed all required updates for your computer.
    Update iTunes
Check that you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer.
    Check the USB cable
Verify that the 30-pin to USB cable or Lightning Connector to USB cable is free of debris and not damaged. If another cable is available, test with that cable instead.
USB cables that are bundled with third-party products or accessories might work only to charge those products and might not transmit data. Also, if you're using a third-party case or extended battery pack, try removing the case and connecting the Apple-supplied USB cable directly to your device.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

I've gone through a bunch of other articles, rebooted routers, rebooted phones, shut down firewalls, etc... nothing has worked?  Any ideas?
Mac is running Maverics.  All devices are 7.0.4.  Two iphones(4 and 5), and three ipads(4,2,mini).
Cabling them up works fine.  As soon as I disconnect the cable, they disappear from iTunes.  It has been doing this for a little bit and is now getting to the bubbling over point for me.

Same thing with me. iTunes 11.1.4 and Mavericks 10.9.1 - iTunes does not see my iOS 7.0.4 devices (two iPad Airs and one iPhone 5), but DOES see my old iPod Touch (iOS 5.1.1) without any problem.
I've done all the recommended troubleshooting for wi-fi syncing, to no avail. The suggestion for new Locations (plastered by G3R3N through similar threads) is unsuccessful, and I rate as 'voodoo' because iTunes sees the iOS 5 device on the same network as the iOS 7 devices it doesn't see!
I don't want to speculate it is a factor in this bug, but my computer's name has an apostrophe in it (e.g. "Beamerboy's iMac") which is removed in the network name (i.e. "Beamerboys-iMac.local"). I also do the same thing with my iOS devices (e.g. "Beamerboy's iPhone/iPod/iPad, etc.). This has never been a problem for my Apple devices on my network, though I know it can freak out less sophisticated software.
Thanks for the heads up about the efforts at troubleshooting, booleanman; I'll just wait/hope for a fix, and do wired iTunes syncs, rather than waste months with AppleCare support.

  • ITunes Wifi Sync issue

    Hi,
I canceled a wifi sync session (pressing the x in the area in which iTunes shows what it is currently syncing to/from my iPhone) and ever since doing so my iPhone is no longer recognised in iTunes.
It doesn't show up on the device list.
    Things i tried:
    1.     Quit iTunes (Finder > iTunes > Quit iTunes)
    2.     Restart computer
--> also restarted the iPhone before trying again
    3.     plugging in the USB cable.
    4.     Go to Preferences --> Devices --> option "prevent iPod, iPhone, iPad to sync automatically" isn't checked.
--> Makes sense, since my iPad is connected and syncing properly. Double checked it anyway.
    5.     Searched on Google: not finding anything useful. searched on words like: osx + itunes + wifi sync + not showing
    System spec's:
iMac 27" 3,4 GHZ i7, 16GB ddr3, SSD. OSX Lion 10.7.2 installed. iTunes 10.5.2 (11) installed. Latest updates installed, completely updated.
How do i fix this issue ?

You may want to try uninstalling the security software or following along with Apple's article.

  • Installed Itunes 11.0 on Windows 7 64-bit / Itunes store crashes app completely

    Hello
I Installed Itunes 11.0 on Windows 7 64-bit and I can download podcasts and it will sync,
but after downloading app updates and clicking done,
Itunes crashes immediately when it tries to access the itunes store.
If I try to access the Itunes store though Itunes at any time it crashes.  CrashTunes?
Ninetynine percent of the time I don't want to go to the Itunes store ...
I want to sync my updated pocasts and updated apps to the phone and leave.
not half-sync my phone, crash and repeat until I get the timing right,
then have to break more traffic laws that usual to get to work on time.
    Sorry for the vent,
Thanks for your time to any of those who help,
    Bobby

After numerous calls with Apple support, I finally got it working
For me, the problem was the following:
    1. Make sure that Internet Explorer is your standard browser for windows (if not...make it)!
    2. In Internet Explorer go to "Internet Options" then "Advanced"
    3. In the list scroll down to "Security" and UNCHECK "Check for server certificate revocation"
    4. Make sure that (a bit further down) "Use SSL 3.0" and "Use TLS 1.0" are CHECKED.
    5. Delete the "SC Info" folder once again...
    6. Run iTunes in Admin-Mode
After that, I was able to activate my computer and I changed my browser back to Firefox afterwards...
Hope that will help you too !!
    Cheers

  • Videos/photostream/itunes wifi sync...

So up until ios5, you imported the photos and videos you took on your iphone into iphoto by plugging in your iphone via USB into your mac. It would open up iTunes to sync your music and movies, etc, and it would seperatly open iPhoto to import newly taken pics and videso into your library that it recognized had not already been uploaded.
Now, there is an option to sync to iTunes over Wifi, but it doesn't import your photos and videos from your phone to your iPhoto library, presumably because that's what photostream is for, right? But photostream doesn't handle video. So, if I only take picures on my iphone, then I can use itunes wifi sync to handle my music, podcasts, backup (unless I do my backup via icloud backup), movies and videos I want to include FROM my mac TO my phone, and I can use photostream to make sure any pictures I've taken land up on my iphoto library. BUT... the second I want to take a video on my iphone, then I have to plug the phone into my mac via USB? Just to do that one thing? Is this correct. Plus, what if I've taken 15 pictures and 3 videos on my iphone and I plug it in to grab those videos. Is iPhoto going to know that the pictures have already been received via photostream, and tell me all I need to upload is the videos, or, is it going to say that both the pics and videos are new, and want to upload the pics to my library also, essentially creating two copies of them in my iphoto library?
Am I overlooking something? Do I have this scenario correct?
Is it just me or is the partial overlap of iTunes wired sync vs. iTunes wifi sync vs. iCloud a bit crazy right now?!
    Thanks!
    ryan

I totally agree, I am very frustrated.  I just spoke with Apple support on the phone and confirmed that YES indeed, you still have to plug in the USB cable and manually import your videos into iPhoto, old school style.  I am deeply disappointed by this.  In my family we have 5 different iphones and everyone is constantly taking lots of video of kids and such.  So now this means I have to still manually connect the cable to all 5 phones on a weekly basis and manually import all the videos and delete them from the device (in order to free up space).  This is exactly what I wanted to AVOID by upgrading to iCloud and setting up Photostream and wireless sync and online backups.  I thought videos would be covered too, but they're NOT.  Nowhere on Apple website is this explained clearly.  The apple support person just gave me some lame excuse saying they "may" fix this with iPhone 5.
I think this is false advertising and almost fraudulent.  After a while, you will get a popup message saying that your iCloud storage is running out of space, and asking you to purchase more.  That is because the videos are still staying on your device and consuming more space, so you are running out of your 5G free iCloud storage.  If instead Apple wirelessly imported the videos to iPhoto automatically and cleared up your Camera Roll, you would not run out of space, and hence wouldn't need to purchase more online storage.  This sounds to me like a very sneaky way of making people buy more storage than they really need.   I hope some lawyer looks into this and investigates any possible fraud or false advertising, maybe file a class action lawsuit to force Apple to fix this (rather than Apple forcing consumers to purchase more unnecessary storage).
    BTW, here's my post:  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3536475
