ITunes will delete everything on my phone during upgrade?

I want to upgrade my phone's OS thru iTunes but when I do, I get a popup that says that there are purchased things on my phone that I should transfer to iTunes before I upgrade. Ok. So when I go to do that, I get a popup that says that by syncing I will replace everything on my phone with the data from my iTunes. I have like, nothing in my iTunes. Just music. So it will essentially take everything on my phone and replace it with nothingness from my iTunes. What am I doing wrong?

Why would you not be syncing to your computer regularly?
If there is no backup, then you will likely lose everything.
The iphone is designed to be synced regularly.

You are correct. Corrupted files are in the backup. If you've already restored the iPhone it has been erased and starting over is the way to go in order to eliminate the corrupted files.

I just got a new macbook and i want to sync my iphone to it but when i do that itunes tells me that it will delete my everything because im already hooked up to my desktop. It will only delete your synced content, which you can then resync, it won't affect your iCloud data.

Itunes will no longer recognize my phone

I just bought the iPhone 5c. When I plugged it in to my old itunes it synced all of my old music. I wanted to start fresh so i made an icloud account and deleted all of those songs. I then signed on with my new account. After this, itunes will no longer display my phone as a device. I tried everything from reinstalling itunes to checking the Apple Mobile Device services and still nothing. Can someone please tell me what I did wrong so I can get some music?!

1-reinstall itunes(to last version)
2-reset all setting from settings(on iPhone)
3-change port of usb to your Computer

Check for 'others' in iTunes against your iPhone.
Restore from a previous backup to reclaim some of it.
Still want more, Restore in iTunes, setup as New.

They told you incorrectly, although it is not a good idea to rely on the device as a single point of storage.
You must have an Apple ID to purchase content via iTunes, simply log in with that ID in iTunes. Then connect the device and sync it. For detailed instructions, read the manual which is available online or on the device.

When I go into system preferences, then iCloud, then manage, it does not let me view what is there only says: ex: The documents stored inside Pages take up 623.3KB and gives me the option to: Delete Documents and Data. It does not let me see what files are there. I think it is time for me to go back to my apple store and get more acquainted with iCloud and storage and how to manage it. I had some issues with my mac about a month ago after downloading an updated version. The issue was related to syncing, iCloud, iTunes, calendar and storage. What can happen is that you might have emptied your iTunes library for any reason such as a system restore
If this is the case, you first need to Import iPhone library to iTunes and then, you'll be able to sync your iPhone with iTunes with no problem
