ITunes will not burn or import CDs

I recently installed iTunes 7. Out of nowhere it won't Burn or import CDs. When I open iTunes a message states "can't burn or import because CD Configuration folder is not in the same folder as iTunes". My CD configuration folder is in the same folder as my iTunes folder. I attempted to reinstall iTunes, but with no avail. Then I deleted the CD Configuration folder and iTunes Setup folder, then I reinstalled iTunes, but again I had no success. If you have any pointers please inform me. I'm really confused because what iTunes is telling me is wrong, is actually how it is supposed to be. Recently I've downloaded a DVD Ripping Software and Nero Software, so perhaps that has something to do with it. But anyway if you have any solutions let me know.

Hi Innonut;
You are asking your iTune question on the Leopard forum. If you would report in the Windows iTunes Forum, you might get more response there.

  • My itunes will not burn cd. telling me new burning software added may cause this

I recently had Windows Vista put on my computer. I had Roxio put on it also. I tunes will not burn my playlist because of this. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing itunes . this does not correct the problem. I tuunes is telling me there is no disc burner found.

    Hello bacovino,
From what you describe it sounds like you are getting this error message when trying to burn a CD in iTunes even after uninstalling the iTunes application:
"Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
I recommend uninstalling not only iTunes but its associated softwares as well, as outlined in the following article:
iTunes for Windows: "Registry settings" warning when opening iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3299
iTunes installs a device filter which helps it work with your optical drive. If this device filter is missing, you will see the message mentioned above. To resolve this issue, follow the steps below to reinstall iTunes and put the device filter back in place:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
If the issue persists after re installing iTunes again, there is additional troubleshooting in the article that involves installing the device filter in Windows, which it walks you through.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • ITunes will not open my music CDs when I place them in the DVD drive. I am using Win 7 and latest download of iTunes. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with AV software turned off. No luck. Cannot upload my music CDs to iTunes library. Any ideas?

Using Win 7 and latest download of iTunes, the software will not recognize my music CDs when inserted in my DVD drive. I put a CD in the drive and nothing happens. iTunes does not have a "start" button, or some menu option to tell it to begin copying music to the library, so it just sits there. When I first installed iTunes, it would open the CDs, but I would get an error message after the first track started to transfer. Now, after a coupel uninstalls, disc cleanup, etc., nothing happens when I insert the CD. I am lost here and about to sell my new Ipod Classic because it is useless to me. Maybe I'm just too old to own something like this? Any (serious) suggestions would be appreciated.

In iTunes, do Store->View my AppleID
    Click "Deuthorize ALL"
Then, on any computers you still have, do Store->Authorize this computer.  If there are less than 5, you will have no problem.
You can only do "deauthorize all" once a year, so in the future, if you ever throw a computer away, remember do to "Store->Deauthorize this computer" first.

  • ITunes 8.2 will not burn or import CD's

I had to upgrade to iTunes 8.2 to work with my iPhone. Since I did that, I am not able to burn or import store bought CD's on my Sony Vaio. I keep getting error messages to reinstall iTunes because some files are missing from from my registry and it may be due to some other CD burning software. That does not fix the problem.
I have to use Windows Media Player as my default now (which I hate!) and iTunes only to sync my iPhone. This is driving me crazy!!

When you moved the original drive to the lower bay, you must change the drive jumper from Master to Slave, failing to do so will likely render the drive unusable as the system cannot "see" it. Try reset the jumper on the back of the drive, and perhaps you can use that for CD's..
Like Perryb, I want to install a Pioneer DVD superdrive into my G4 (in my case a 115D) and was going to place it in the Zip drive bay. Thus two questions:
1 Can the new drive be placed as the lower drive or do I have to move the combo drive down and place it as the upper drive?
2 If I do move the combo down, where can I find the information about resetting the jumper from master to slave? (The profiler identifes the ATA drives as Combo = 0 and Zip = 1)
3 Do I have to set anything on the new superdrive before installation?
    Thanks,
    George

  • My iTunes will not burn a lot of my music as MP3s

I am trying to create a MP3 cd with music from my iTunes.
Most of the music is from CDs.
But it doesn't seem to matter what format the music originally came in (imported) as because some of it can be turned into MP3s and some of it can not.
Please tell me what to do in this situation. I know that some of the music from iTunes music store will only allow me to burn a certain amount of times before it does not allow me to anymore. However, I have never burned any of my purchased music to a CD yet. Also, most of the music that I want to burn into MP3 format onto a disc is from my own personal CD collection.
Is there anything I can do. The problem is that my girlfriend's MP3 player is not an iPod so that I need to make the music MP3 and not MP4 because the player she has only reads MP3s.

What format is my music converted to when I import from CD?
that depends on what you have set in your itunes importing preferences tab. for some more info on that, see:
iTunes 6: How to Choose Import Options
for a little more info about the different file formats see:
iTunes: About import settings and hard disk space

  • Itunes will not burn the order I want.

    details: (a) itunes 10 (b) 2011 13'' macbook pro (c) not a noob
    1) create playlist folder in itunes.
    2) add songs to folder.
    3) put songs in desired order.
    4) burn playlist to cd.
    5) playback cd and discover order is incorrect.
    6) look on internet for help - hours later, discover there is none.
    7) bust cd in rage - vacuum up shards.
    8) start looking for alternatives to itunes.
    mood: dispondent

In step 5, did you play the CD in your computer or in a CD player?  If you play in your computer, it will play in the order selected by the highlighted column in list view.  I invested a CD and 10 minutes to show you this.
Here is the paylist sorted by track number.
Here is the CD as it first appears in iTunes after burning.  Notice that it is sorted by album. I didn't yet select a sort column but it appeared sorted by album with the album column checked.
Here is the CD sorted by track number.
Here is the CD opened in Finder.  Note the track numbers correspond to the burn playlist.  This is the order they will play in a CD player.
Next time, try playing in in your CD player before resorting to steps 7 and 8.

  • ITunes will not load songs from CDs in order especially like Broadway musicals. How do I fix?

I have tried to load music from several of my CD and the songs are not in the same order in ITunes as on the CD. This occurs when there are different artists on the CD such as Reba Duets and
Broadway musicals. Broadway musicals are especially important since the music tells a story. How can I load a CD into ITunes and keep the order of songs the same as the CD? Thank you.

Generally setting a common Album title and Album Artist will fix things.

  • ITunes will not play/allow import of any audio files

I have iTunes installed via Windows 7. Yesterday, iTunes stopped playing any audio files. I first noticed this problem after streaming music to my apple TV went bonkers. I tunes would play the first 3 seconds of a song and go onto the next one, even though all music played fine through iCloud on my apple TV.  Afterwords all audio files just stopped playing with an error. Before this time everything worked fine.
I double click on them or right click on play and nothing happens, period. Of note, almost all the artwork that was associated with the audio files has also disappeared in itunes.  I can still play video files with sound through itunes without any problem. I can play all music through quicktime, vlc, etc. without any issue. I can also link to my pc-itunes library and play the same music through iTunes installed on my mac without issue. I can play samples fine through itunes via the itunes store.
I tried I have tried unistalling iTunes, Quicktime, etc. (following Apple's recomendations for unistalling) with subsequent reinstalls now 3 times. I even paid good money for RegCure Pro to clean the registry - still the same problem.
I also cannot import audio files into itunes on my pc now either - dragging and dropping as well as, going through the menu - nothing works!
This has got to be the most frustrating issue that I have had to deal with on a computer!
    Please help!

I have now discovered the problem. The hard drive that I was using for iTunes was Dirty; meaning that something was corrupted. As a result I had to copy all file to a temp location and reformat the drive. This solved the problem. Of note, I had formatted the drive the first time using exFAT in hopes of being apple to use if needed with my mac mini.

  • ITunes will not burn playlists after loading the ION USB Turntable software

Loaded EZ vinyl converter, which allows copying of LPs and importing them into ITunes. All went well with first album and it can be played on my computer. I cannot burn a disc- either the LP I loaded or music already there.
    The discs are good.
    Any others with this issue?
    Any solutions?

All my LP downloads go well and they sound great over the computer's speakers, but I can't burn anything, either from iTunes or from Windows Media Player.
I even deleted the turntable software and tried burning, with no luck.
And, I haven't gotten a response from the ION folks.
I don't want to take the computer to my local fixer, only to find that there's a simple software solution.

  • My itunes will not burn CD's...everytime I attempt to burn a CD it gets to the finishing disk point and says it is unable to burn the disk

Each time i attempt to burn a CD, it quits right before it is finished and flashes an "error" message. if i try to play the CD it show up with how many song are on the disk, but no music plays.

Try a different disc manufacture. I have good luck with Maxell.
And make sure the disc is free of smudges and finner prints so the optical disk can write data to it.

  • One song will NOT burn onto any cd

up until now i have never encountered such a problem. one song that i purchased from iTunes will not burn onto a cd. i've never had troubles before with any other song, just this one. i've tried complaining to the itunes help but i got some lame answer that didn't help at all. could it be possible to have the itunes store allow me to download it again without paying for it, i think they let me download a corrupt song. why would they do that?

My very strong advice is to give up. Certainly don't waste another second messing about with tags. I have not seen one scrap of evidence to suggest they have any effect.
From my experience, the only chance you have of getting it matched is to alter the waveform of your track so that it matches that on the store. I assume that yours is a different mastering or something. I'm no expert, bit I'd guess that your chances of hitting on the right adjustments could be best expressed as zero.

  • I am trying to burn some cds from my playlist on itunes, but my playlist shows many of my songs in light print and says that it will not burn because it is not a file, these are all songs I have purchased quite a while ago, how do i get them to files?

I am trying to burn some cds from my playlist on itunes, but my playlist shows many of my songs in light print and says that it will not burn because it is not a file, these are all songs I have purchased quite a while ago, how do i get them to files?

If they were songs you purchased from itunes, try redownloading them from your purchases...
if that doednt work, make sure the optuon to copy files to itunes media folder is checked in settings, then find and download from the net. and re-add them to your library

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here. (Use your Ctrl-V keyboard shortcut to paste.)
