Itunes will not shut down on mac
My itunes will not shut down when I close it out. The itunes ball will bounce up and down and reopen itself.
I am running 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and this has started in the last 3 weeks.
I thought it was my blackberry software and had that removed. It has continued afterwards.
I do have all of my music on an external hard drive.
ThanksThanks wjosten I have read that and all the links in it. I did finally get it to work. I downloaded iTunes and reinstalled it. Now the one computer I wanted it to work with is OK.

Itunes will not shut down. it keeps reopening?
its the latest version, windows 7 is up to date. after updating iphone and ipad tp iOS 5 itune keeps opening every 2-3 minutes, it will not stop! i uninstalled it and reinstalled, still the same. this is maddening!
Hi jkherman.
I am having a similar problem. I shut down iTunes and then shut off my computer (MBP 13", 2.9 GHz i7, OS X 10.9).
When I reboot, iTunes appears to be running, however the window is not visible, but the icon is lit from underneath in my dock and iTunes is running when I check the Activity Monitor.
Also, it will not shut down from the dock icon. I need to go into Force Quit to shut it down.
Any ideas?
Thanks! -

Itunes will not recognise and load my library
I know just enough about computers to be dangerous. After years of relatively hassle free itunes I now have a distinct problem. my most recent hard drive failure resulted in the purchase of another new drive and the loadingf of all of my programs. This has happened numerous times in the past without upset but this time after inmstalling the latest v11.1 itunes it will not recognise and load my library. I run 64 bit Win 7 an d to date I have:
Uninstalled itunes and bonjour, deleted my original download, redownloaded and reinstalled.
Checked preferences / advanced / path to make sure it is looking in the right place - changed paths and back again.
Yes, it is 64 bit itunes.
I only use MS Windows Defender and it has never blocked me before.
In the past as soon as itunes has installed it has gobbled up my library but this time all I see is that stupid Mr Scruff et al. Any suggestions would be appreciated.@CPL_STEELE: can you try to post these specifications in your own topic? (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=985161&tstart=0)
It's not very nice to take over someone else this topic, because the topic starter (Ganieda) could have another problem than you. It's also very confusing for everyone who is trying to help because there are now 2 problems in the same topic.
Never the less, feel free to follow this topic if you think it could be interesting for you problem.

Itunes is running causing my fan to run. When I try to close it, it restarts.
When you shut iTunes down, it has to write its database out to disk. This takes time. If you have an overzealous anti-virus program, it can take a looooong time. Try disabling your anti-virus temporarily and seeing if it doesn't take quite so long. If that works, then look in the anti-virus program to see if you can set an exception for *.ITL and *.XML (and maybe even *.TMP) files, so it won't try to scan them so much.

ITunes will not connect but Internet does
iTunes will not connect or load no matter how long I wait but the Internet will, so I know it's not a wi-fi issue. Is the server down?
You could try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores if the iPad is on iOS 6) and then logging back in and see if that makes any difference.
If it doesn't fix it then you could try disconnecting from your network and reconnecting to it, and/or a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -

I just down-loaded the most current iTunes upgrade, and now iTunes will not launch. I ran my computer diagnostics and it indicated that the program was incompatable. What should I do from here?

itunes will not load on my ipad. Icon is there. When I open "Music", it shows itunes with no content briefly and then takes me back to home page. What to do?
Quit the app and restart.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or reset the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. -
ITunes will not load in Vista.......
I have installed and reinstalled the newest iTunes out there and my computer will not load iTunes. I get a message......"iTunes has stopped working." and it makes me close down, but iTunes never loads up. I have checked the help/support pages and have found nothing and I dont know what to do. I need new songs and I can't do nothing. I can charge but not edit my ipod or upload songs since iTunes will not load up.
any suggestions?I'm having this exact same problem. All my iTunes software is up-to-date. I've tried downloading and re-installing several times. I'm not very impressed with the Apple support. Has anyone managed to resolve this issue?

Itunes will not stay close ever since I updated to 10.5.3 version. I try to close program and it pops right back up! The only way to close is open tack manager and stop the itunes.exe and the itunes.help then it will stay close. I did a system restore back to the earlier version of itunes but problem presisted. I finally did the task manager again and downloaded the update to 10.5.3 and this seemed to resolve the problem for awhile but now it is back! Is anybody else experiencing this problem? and where you able to correct it? I'm running Windows 7 64 bit have never had a problem with anything till now. I ran scans of my machine no viruses.

i have exactely the same problem.
After the update to v10.5.3 iTunes isn't shutting down anymore. I have this error on various Windows versions (XP SP3, Win7 x86, Win7 x64.
On my private Notebook v10.5.2.11 still works! I won't update iTunes there - not even for a test .
