ITunes will not install no matter what I do!

When I try to install iTunes on my Windows 7 laptop computer, it says "Error writing to file: C:\Program Files(x86)\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\pl.lproj\ViewLineItemLP.png. Verify that you have access to that directory." and will not install. I once had iTunes on this computer; but when I got my iPhone I needed to update and from then on it's been a nightmare! It would not update, and then I uninstalled it hoping to reinstall it.  Well, it never reinstalled.  I've tried clearing the Temp folder, uninstalling everything iTunes, and running as Admin.  What else can I do?

Deal Emalve,
Try change the path from C: to any other directory and then install..
Hope that works out.

  • ITunes will not download no matter what.

Recently, an error message on my computer popped up saying something about the registry and that I would need to reinstall iTunes. Fair enough. Not a bother. I uninstall iTunes and then go to download it from the site. I go to click on the installer in my desktop, and there's nothing. Okay, I think, maybe it's just taking a long time to download. So I wait about half an hour and check. Nothing.
I go back to the site. I re-download it. I check my download log - it doesn't register as having downloaded, even though I QUITE DISTINCTLY DID SO TWICE.
I look for support. I remove all traces of iTunes and Apple software from my computer (as per suggested), restart, try to download. Nothing. I get no error messages, nothing is telling me I can't do that, that it's an illegal operation or anything like that. The site tells me I've downloaded it, but nothing is getting to my computer.
This is getting ridiculous. Why is it that no matter how many times I tell the site to download iTunesSetup64x.exe, it won't do it? Why is this? I demand an explanation for this.

That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • ITunes will not open no matter what solution I use

Try  a blast from an airduster into the socket
    and
    from a post by @davshirley
In my case it was an easy fix.  Take a wooden toothpick and reach up inside the connector on the iphone5 and remove the pocket lint that collects in the socket.  Once it is cleaned out, everything works good as new.

When you gte requests to locate iTunes.msi like this, the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility usually fixes it.
Here is a method for removal, clean up and reinstall of iTunes.
    == uninstall with cleanup ==
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime (the one without iTunes)
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Save the files on your PC.
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program. The installer doesn't give any message to confirm the installation.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
(To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install)
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
    Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did not uninstall, look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.
    restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
    If it does, install iTunes.

I turned my mac off and ever since then it has glitched out and will not download no matter what I do. I have had it for 3 years which is out of warranty. It now has a blank bar under the launch pad and no matter how many times I try re-downloading it or restarting my computer it does not work. I use too play starcraft and other games on this computer although new patched/updates have made it that I can no longer do that now. Really frustrating having to deal with this especially after buying this computer upfront and now out of warranty.

Go to your Applications folder and find a file called "Install OS X Mavericks".  Send it to the trash and delete it.  Then try the download again.

  • Itunes will not install..windows INSTALLER service not available.windows 7

I am trying to find a fix for this...just bought a new computer with windows 7, all updates have been performed. Itunes will not install...it just stops and says "windows installer service not available" Can't find a stand alone downloadable version of installer 5.0 which is what comes with 7 from the research I have done. I have the newest version of itunes saved on desktop, tried running it from desktop, tried running as admin, tried several other ideas that I found on here and Microsoft..but nothing is working. Any advice?

Same error message "This version is for a 32 bit computer, yours is a 64 bit!"
Doublechecking ... by any chance did you migrate a 32-bit version of the iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Support and Bonjour programs to the 64-bit machine from a 32-bit machine using the PC Mover utility?
(Your symptoms are consistent with that ... the installer service throws the message when trying to uninstall the 32-bit itunes and related 32-bit componentry prior to installing the new 64-bit versions.)

  • TS1702 itunes will not install

Itunes will not install to my computer

Can you describe what happens when you tryin to install it? Does the download start and then stall? Are you getting the dreaded "waiting" icon?
Did you try resetting/rebooting your iPad after you restored? Sometimes that helps.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • ITunes will not install on a 64 bit PC Win 7

iTunes will not install on a 64 bit PC running Windows 7 with all updates.
Most answers send you to a "cleaner" of somekind that check for errors in you PC and then wants to charge you to clean it.  My PC is CLEAN.
Something is keeping iTunes from installing and running.  Tried 64 bit, 32 bit and all help desks.
Same error message "This version is for a 32 bit computer, yours is a 64 bit!"  I know that and only install the 64 bit version!!!

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Itunes will not install on windows 7 home

    Any one had this issue
Itunes will not install on windows 7 home

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.
