ITunes will not install on new Windows 7 computer

I'm trying to download iTunes onto my new computer. I give my email address and download it, then towards the end I get an error message that says the installer is for the 32-bit version, please download the 64-bit version. The 64-bit version is what pops up when I go to the download page, and what is in the file name of the download. I even when to the list and tried both versions, and I get the same message.
What should I do?

Do you get an error message when you try to download iTunes, melissa? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

itunes 11 will not install on my Windows 7 computer because it cannot start the 'Apple Mobile Device' service, what can I do?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

iTunes will not open on my Windows 7 computer.  I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it, but it still won't open.  I'm trying to synch my iPad and iPhone, which I haven't done for awhile, but right now I'm having no luck.  I'm sure there is a switch I need to turn on or off, but have no idea where to find it.  Can someone help?

iTunes will not open on windows 7, help!
I have an HP laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium, the iTunes version is 11.1.5.5. About a year ago my screen broke on my HP laptop so I moved the hard drive into an older computer. I recently moved my hard drive from the old laptop back to the new.  least opened on the older laptop but now it will not open at all. I've searched all around the web and still haven't found an answer. It's becoming very aggravating. Other programs
I uninstalled every apple related program and reinstalled them, I deleted old apple files, scanned for malware, drivers, Nothing seems to work i'd greatly appreciate the help.
iTunes at least opened on the older laptop but it would stay stuck at analyzing gapless playback, now it will not open at all. I've searched around the web and still haven't found an answer, it's becoming very aggravating.Programs stop working as well such as Catalyst control center, I had to get a new sound driver, Firefox wasn't working, Movie maker, and vlc video player.
I uninstalled every apple related program and reinstalled multiple times, I deleted old apple files, scanned for malware, drivers, disk defragmenting. Nothing seems to work I'd greatly appreciate the help because my iphone died two nights ago and when i plugged it in to charge it would show the battery, then spple logo almost immediatly, then the passcode and it would die and do it again, basically stuck in an endless reboot. Now it's current;y stuck in recovery mode and I want to restore it but of course iTunes isn't working, life is hard so please give me a hand apple I like apple I don't wanna get an android haha.

  • ITunes will not install on my windows vista operated laptop

... I know this is not a new question, and I have tried just about everything that was suggested before.  I removed iTunes and Quicktime and all programs related to them and reinstalled iTunes. However, it still will not open; I get a message indicating that the Data Execution Prevention program has closed it down.
I tried to bypass the DEP, following the instructions provided, by manually exempting iTunes from it.  However, I received a message that this program could not be exempted.  The DEP setting was set so that only Windows System 32 programs would be governed by it.  But this did not work either.
Finally, I set things up so that iTunes would run only via an adminstrator account, but this too did not work.
I should note that iTunes worked fine on my laptop until several weeks ago, when Microsoft pushed some windows updates.  (I have Windows Vista Service Pack 2 operating now, but don't know what it is or its significance to this problem.)
So, I think I have exhausted the troubleshooting options I have seen.  ... Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks.

I reinstall Quicktime and it would not launch and gave me the same error messages.
We'd better check to see if some other application has stashed old versions of QuickTime componentry down in your system files.
So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, open the "System32" folder.
If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

    To Whom It May Concern:

Can someone give me some suggestions regarding what I need to do?
    Thanks,

    First try:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Then try moving the backup to a safe place and then rebuild your computer amd backup up your Tunes library.
    Windows XP:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

    Crikey.
These ones are tricky. But the following instructions are worth a try.

    b. Access the following Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData \S-1-5-18\Components
    c. Perform the following actions
    i. Right Click on Components Folder
    ii. Select Permissions
iii. Select Full Control and Read Permissions options
    iv. Select Advanced Button
    v. Select Owner Tab
vi. Select to Change Owner to the Administrators
vii. Check the option “Replace owner on subcontainers and objects”
viii. Select OK when prompted that it may not change all.

  • ITunes will not install on my Windows 8 laptop

I have a laptop with Windows 8.1 on it.  I have tried installing iTunes a bunch of times (with different browers) and have also tried to follow the instructions that Apple usually posts in response to these complaints...but no luck.  It looks like it starts to install and then it stops and gives me an error that it cannot complete the installation.  I have no idea what is going on and I am getting very frustrated.  Please help!

Although you're getting a different error message, try the procedure from the following user tip with that one:

  • Itunes will not open in my windows 8 laptop

Itunes will not open on my windows 8 computer..can someone please help?

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • I have windows 7 64 bit but the new itunes will not install because it can't find itunes64.msi.  I have searxhed evertwhere on my pc. In addition, I can't uninstall the itunes and reinstall for the same reason.

I have windows 7 64 bit but the new itunes will not install because it can't find itunes64.msi.  I have searched evertwhere on my pc. In addition, I can't uninstall the itunes and reinstall for the same reason. I can't upgrade for my icloud account.

    Try the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

I am trying to find a fix for this...just bought a new computer with windows 7, all updates have been performed. Itunes will not install...it just stops and says "windows installer service not available" Can't find a stand alone downloadable version of installer 5.0 which is what comes with 7 from the research I have done. I have the newest version of itunes saved on desktop, tried running it from desktop, tried running as admin, tried several other ideas that I found on here and Microsoft..but nothing is working. Any advice?

Same error message "This version is for a 32 bit computer, yours is a 64 bit!"
Doublechecking ... by any chance did you migrate a 32-bit version of the iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Support and Bonjour programs to the 64-bit machine from a 32-bit machine using the PC Mover utility?
(Your symptoms are consistent with that ... the installer service throws the message when trying to uninstall the 32-bit itunes and related 32-bit componentry prior to installing the new 64-bit versions.)
