Itunes will not launch after latest update 2/2014

Just installed latest update for iTunes on 2/21/2014 on my MBP running snow leopard and after restarting MBP iTunes will not  launch.
Thank you
MacBook Pro
Late 2008 unibody running Snow Leopard 10.6.8

Yes, first, I would run Disc Utility; Verify Disc, Verify Disc Permissions, & Repair Disc Permissions.
Then I would go here > http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ for the .dmg file download.
Then I would reinstall iTunes. So, unless you do not have enough free space on your hard drive, that should work.
Otherwise, it may be time for some spring cleaning...

  • ITunes will not launc after latest update (Mac version)

    Hi
I was prompted by the software updater to update iTunes the other day, and so I did. When I first launched iTunes after the update, there was the usual window where i had to agree on Apple's this-and-that that always follows an update, but then nothing happened. After a while, Finder said iTunes was not responding. Now everytime I attempt to launch iTunes, the little triangle will appear beneath the iTunes icon in the dock as if the program was running, but nothing happens. It immediately stops responding, and I cannot even force close it. It's a bit like Windows...
Anyone else with this problem, and maybe with a solution?

I do not get any error code when launching iTunes or double-clicking a audio file. iTunes attempts to launch (bouncing icon in dock), then stops responding.
I have now tried repairing disk permissions and deleting iTunes-related files from the personal/library/preferences folder, all to no avail.

My Itunes will not launch after downloading and I have tried all the troubleshooting for itunes for Windows 7 64-bit. Do I need to system reboot my computer than try to download it again?

I'm having a very similar issue, paired with iTunes not being able to get online.
iTunes shows up in processes and then hangs at 17,000 K or so -- sometimes it will start up, but that (if it occurs) is a delay of literal hours.
Pretty meticulously went through all the 'cannot connect' trouble shooting, and have uninstalled, restarted, and then reinstalled every piece of apple software; issue is just as firm. Starting in safe mode or admin mode don't fix it; signing in as a different user doesn't fix it.

  • ITunes will not launch after upgrade--click, bounce bounce, nada

iTunes will not launch after upgrade--rebooted nothing--2 bounce icon
then shut down all and unplugged, restarted--no change, iTunes still will not launch after upgrade
    iTunes current version
    on imac w/10.6.8

    I have the same issue.
Allready uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it, but the same problem occurs.
Icon keeps bouncing, and all that's visible is the first menu-item in the top menu bar, named iTunes. Nothing is clickable though.
The iPhone Configuration Utility doesn't seem to work either, it crashes on uploading an app to my iPhone. I guess it's using some of iTunes' libs or something.
Does anyone know how to get iTunes working again? I'm getting pretty desperate over here...
    Thanks!

  • Firefox will not launch after latest OS X security update

Just installed latest Apple software update on Snow Leopard. Now, Firefox will not launch. Checked system logs and get this:
    11/21/10 10:24:20 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[155] ([0x0-0x6d06d].org.mozilla.firefox[802]) Exited with exit code: 1
The following may or may not be related. Before installing the update, I had lots of these messages in my logs:
11/21/10 7:27:17 PM firefox-bin[39594] *** __NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x1422680 of class __NSCFDate autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking

Sounds like you may have a check in the box for HTTP and/or HTTPS proxy servers, but you are not behind a proxy server. Safari and Software Update use the HTTP port, Mail doesn't, and Firefox ignores the Mac OS preferences and uses it's own proxy settings.
Go to System Preferences > Network > active connection > Proxies tab and if there are proxies checked, UNcheck them.
    Hope this helps...

  • Lightroom 5.5 will not launch after CC update

My Lightroom 5.5 was working just fine.  Yesterday after doing an update on Creative Cloud, and rebooting the computer, LR will not launch.  When I click on the icon, it opens the splash page for a split second, then crashes.  Any suggestions of what may be happening and what to do?

I had this issue with Photoshop on Windows from the very beginning of my subscription -- i.e. since end of last year. Now, after latest update Adobe managed to introduce same problem with LR 5.5. Here is how I "solved" it on Windows:
I have two scripts that I am using to start PS and LR
    rd "%programdata%\adobe\slstore" /q /s
    rd "%CommonProgramFiles(x86)%\adobe\slcache\slconfigs" /q /s
echo *** Start the sucker ***
    pushd %programfiles%
    "Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.5\lightroom.exe"
    popd
I don't have this problem on Mac and don't know where this cache lives there, but it should be somewhere. Idea is that you remove the cache and configuration, then start the app, it registers itself and starts. Unfortunately, I have to do it every time. Tech support have no clue about any solution for that, you have to ask them to transfer you to product support.
    Good luck,
    Sergei

  • Itunes will not launch after upgrade or reinstall

I was on itunes and the message popped up asking if i would like to upgrade and install a new version of itunes. I clicked okay. After this was done, I have been unable to launch itunes to update my ipod. I have tried to uninstall both itunes & Quicktime and then re-install both. I have also tried to clear out the temp files, however, I get the following error message...
Cannot delete hpodvd09.log; It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using this file and try again.
Can anyone help me? I am fairly new to itunes. Thank you in advance.

Hello Pac80 or anybody else...I took your advice (see below script) on a similar problem you assisted on last week.
I unfortunately am still not be successful in getting access to itunes..any more suggestions?..
    1. after I load the upgrade from itunes on my system, i get a dialog box saying "itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close"
    2. also i get "error 1905 model C:/Program files/itunes..."
any further advise would be greatly appreciated...cheers..M2
Goto control panel>add and remove in windows and
uninstall itunes AND quicktime. Then go here and roll
down to the section "Clean up iTunes installer files
    on the computer"
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
Now disable your antivirus and security programs,
then goto apple.com and download AND SAVE itunes to
    your PC.
Once done goto the location you saved it and double
    click it to install.
If it still will not open, scan your system with
Ewido www.ewido.com for a piece of adware called

  • Itunes will not launch after upgrading to 11.1.5 with my 10.6.8 mac book pro

as soon as I upgraded to the new itunes, when clicking on the icon in the dock I noticed the icon bounced up and down once but itunes never opened up. Tried it latter in the day and it still would not open. My operating system is 10.6.8and I have the current apple updates installed up to this date today. the funny thing is I waited on the itunes update, and then decided to go ahaead and upgrade and soon as I did, well you know what happened. If I could ask a second question, what if I just went back to the original software version when I bought this computer, would I have less problems. I tried this earlier because of problems with flash and my nikon software needed the apple upgrades to work (they no longer make the older version). BUt when I worked it on the original software everything worked great (no nikon) but I could not see the videos on youtube, and other internet content on various sites. So my question is, if I decide to cut and run back to my old home, how could I solve the the flash problem or could I just get an earlier version of flash? My mac book pro I beleive came with 10.6.4, or what ever they had about three years ago around November. But this itunes thing is really bothering me and if I can fix this then I will avoid any further iupgrades even if someone puts a gun to my head. Just kidding. Thank you again for your help

My MBP (15", early 2009 model, 8GB RAM, 1TB internal drive) showed in Software Update as not needing any other updates, and I downloaded from Apple's site directly and installed iTunes 11.1.5 rather than doing it via Software Update (I've had some glitches with the 'direct' install from SU in the past, so I manually download updates from Apple's support website instead).
Hoping Apple will figure out what's wrong with this version under 10.6.8...

  • ITunes will not open after (12) update!!!!!!!

Just updated iTunes to (12) and now it will not open. Two messages. The procedure entry point ADAdPolicyEngine_DidEnterStation could not be located in the dynamic link library iAdCore.dll. and then iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 127)
I've tried to uninstall and reinstall DID NOT WORK. Tried to remove the file iAdCore.dll. from iTunes in the program files and again DID NOT WORK! I have lost my entire library and now cannot even open iTunes just because I did the update. Please help.
    Win XP SP3 32bit

i had almost same issue on Windows RT 8.1
i tried to uninstall and reintsall as apple says THOUSAND TIMES but, did not work at all !
i sorted out myself issues they are ,
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple folder &
    C:\ProgramData\Apple &
    C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer    cannot be deleted
thats why i recieved "Error 7 (Windows Error XXX)" even though apple says its because netframework or Corrupt download or incomplete installation of iTunes software
so i moved undeletable folders with all subfolders to desktop and run installation of  itunes12.0.1.26
all solved my problems of installing itunes, now i have to find a way to delete the files on the desktop .

  • My iphone will not charge after latest update.

After I did the latest update first my middle button stopped working then the volume stopped working but both were fixed after a restart. Now my phone won't charge I get the message cable not compatible but it's the charger that came with the phone. Please help.

After a full 8 hour charge it only shows about 40% charge.  This phone worked without incident before the last two firmware updates.  I use the same wall charger and Apple cord for my iPad and wife's phone (she has not updated her phone to iOs 6.0.1) and they all work great.  There must be something in the new update that kills battery life. By the way, I replaced my battery less than a month ago.

  • Itunes will not launch after fresh install and repeated re-installs

I've been browsing around the forums here and the support system hoping for an answer to this question.
On Monday my hard drive died and I had to buy a new one. I reinstalled windows and itunes among other things. I have a brand new Video Ipod as well. I haven't even had a chance to plug it in!
Itunes worked for about 2 days and suddenly stopped working. I mean literally, if I double click on the icon and start up the program, it immediately crashes and asks me if I want to send an Error report.
I removed and reinstalled and rebooted about 3 times to no avail. I re-downloaded Itunes + quicktime just in case there was something wrong with the installer. This did not fix the problem.
I then tried messing with my "sound" settings as suggested by support and people on the forums. I can not find the option to change my sound output to 1400000khz or whatever. Nor does changing my system to "Speaker mode headphones" fix the issue as suggested by apple here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304318
Quicktime is also screwed up and will not load on websites. It shows an icon in my taskbar but when I click on it, nothing happens. Even if Itunes is uninstalled, the icon still shows up in the tray. I cannot delete the folders or find any option in Uninstall programs to remove it.
As a last resort, I rolled my system back to Monday when I had just installed Windows, default drivers and SP2. A clean system. I then installed Itunes as the very first program and surprise - it crashed upon opening.
I have no idea what to do at this point. Without Itunes my ipod is almost usless.

The quote below is from a previous thread where several people solved your same problem with the stated technique. Maybe it will work for you. Good Luck.
iTunes 7.0.2 FIX ("Have tried all 'fixes' suggested but iTunes STILL not opening").
    1. Uninstall iTunes and QuickTime.
    2. Do a search in the C:\ drive for "QuickTime". Delete EVERYTHING that pops up.
    3. Restart the computer.
    4. Install QUICKTIME ONLY
    5. THEN install iTunes......and IT WORKS.....Just remember to install QuickTime FIRST.

    Hello, Desfromnotts.
Thank you for the question.  Try uninstalling all components of iTunes in the order specified of the article below.  Once this is done attempt to install iTunes again.

  • ITunes will not start after software update yesterday

Using recent version of iTunes to manage my iPod Touch on a ThinkPad T400 with Win7 Pro 64-bit.
I was offered a software update last night, and took it.  It appeared to install OK and required a reboot, which I performed.
Now I cannot run iTunes at all.  In the Processes view of Task Manager, the iTunes process appears and then disappears without any kind of UI error message.
I heve rebooted again.  I have downloaded the 10.4 installer from http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/download/ and used the repair option.
No good.  Rebooted.  No good.  The file version from Properties of iTunes64Setup.exe is 10.4.0.80 by the way.
Stopped the Bonjour service.  No good.
So now I cannot get my latest podcasts onto my iPod and I am extremely unhappy.
    Any ideas please?

If you downgrade, uninstall Apple compatibility support also from Programs as that seems to be the crux of many issues, both with iTunes but also Safari.
The other "crux" is that QT 7.7 and Safari 5.1 are security patches/updates deemed "critical/essential" category. Safari you can probably do w/o. iTunes is "dot zero" (10.4.0).
iTunes: I am always doing this that bring UAC to blank the screen, and refuse to disable that security feature, but that also means iTunes video (music, movies etc) will also go blank.
Other feature I have had with itunes is that it will go into a process thread lock wait state between video/movie and require a kill thread.
In 5 yrs Vista/7 I've had more issues with Apple software than anything else bare none.

  • ITunes won't launch after latest update

    Hi.
I've just downloaded and installed (through system update) the latest iTunes version and now it won't launch. It worked perfectly fine fine before the update but now it won't open. Icon bounces then just stops... Any ideas!? Thank you!

    Thanks for the replies...
It seems alot of people are having this trouble, I do have shapeshifter on my system, I'll try adding iTunes to the exclude list and see if that does anything. I'll try your suggestion with the library folder, does that mean to trash the iTunes library folder or just move it out of where it is? What I don't get is how it can be corrupted, it worked perfectly before the update
