iTunes will not let me backup and sync to new phone encrypted password?? I've never set a password for my old iPhone 3gs but tried my old Apple ID sign-in passwords to no avail. I've simply sat here so frustrated....my husband sync'd his new iPhone 4 no problem, somehow the checkbox shows Encrypted password and I'm at a loss on how to change this/find the password and transfer my old backup onto my new phone so I can use it. Can anyone help? Tnx

buy an iTunes Music Card and redeem it to your account - the "none" option should be available then.

Are you sure that those are regular playlists (music note symbol) and not smart playlists (gear symbol)? Smart playlists populate themselves according to their rules, and you cannot drag songs into them. -

ITunes will not let me sync my iPad 2...
iTunes will not let me sync my 8 month old, previously synced iPad 2. It is no longer recognized over Wi-Fi and when i plug it in via USB I am given the 'Set Up Your iPad' screen. I have tried restoring from a backup, and that successfully restores my iPad but iTunes still will not recognize this. My only options remain 'setup as a new iPad' or 'Restore from the backup...'
Any ideas what I should do? I have tried both soft and hard reboots, closed/reopened itunes, rebooted my MacBook...nothing has worked. Should I suck it up and try resetting to the factory settings? Or does this sound more like an issue with the iPad?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated - ThanksISSURE RESOLVED - there was an interupted/corrupt backup of this device that had to be deleted. After deleting this backup file, iPad was recognized without issue...only wish is hadnt tried 'restoring from backup' first since my settings were reverted to that previous date once issue was resolved.

Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
* If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:

I have the iPhone 4. I recently switched from PC to IMac. I am trying to sync my iPhone, but iTunes will not let me add or remove anything. Do I need to change a setting since I changed computers? Iphone will sync with one computer at a time.
When you sync to another it will delete the current content.
Make sure you have copied everything from your old computer to your new one first. -

Try downloading the songs from a different device. If you are doing it from your iOS device, try form your computer.

You've turned on the Parental/Content Restrictions by mistake
Look in iTunes at Edit/Preferences/Parental>Content Restrictions>Restrict explicit content and make sure the tick is not in the checkbox.

When I use Home Sharing, I can see the library I want to copy under Shared, but I can't get it save on the computer under the regular library. I go to edit and "select all" but there is no import button that is in the right hand corner. Also, it will not let me click and drag the music. How do I get it from one computer to the other?
Since both computers are connected via the network, you could simply copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from one computer to another via the network.
If both computers are running Windows, use the Easy File Transfer Utility built into Windows to move iTunes and all other user media/data. -
