System: iMac 1.83 Core Duo w/1 gb RAM, updated OS 10.4.8, iTunes 7.0.2 (15), Firewire library.
Application stops responding (repeatable) during CD import if another service is requested (e.g. rating songs).

I am also having the same issue with everyone else in that iTunes will not open. This happened to me about two weeks ago and I uninstalled and reinstalled the version that came with my iPod. I figured that after a couple of weeks Apple would have figured out the glitch and fixed it. Wrong. B was asking another user if iTunes.exe was appearing and then disappearing in the Task Manager. I am having the oposite issue in that I cannot End Task in the Task Manager on iTunes.exe. What is up? Can anyone help me? Thanks for the support!hi bummed! I was attempting to update iphone 4s today, laptop went flat during the last stages. The iphone now only displays USB cord, with an arrow pointing towards iTunes emblem. iTunes will not accept/read the iphone. HELP??
If you have the latest version of iTunes you should not have to download the ipsw file separately as jalp suggests. iTunes will download it automatically.
This error (9) most often means that your antivirus or firewall (or router) is blocking access to Apple's servers. In rare instances it can also mean that the phone was hacked (or "jailbroken") to unlock it. If this is the case you must do a DFU restore, not Recovery Mode, as follows:
Reboot your computer
Disable your antivirus and firewall. If you has Kaspersky you may actually have to uninstall it, as it can never be turned completely off.
Connect the USB cable to a USB port directly on your computer, not to a hub. DO NOT connect the other end to the phone
Disconnect all USB devices except for mouse, keyboard and iPhone cable.
Launch iTunes
On the phone hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time for EXACTLY 10 seconds, then release the SLEEP button but continue holding the HOME button. The screen should be black. If it has an Apple logo this means you held both buttons too long. Release the HOME button and do it again.
While holding the HOME button connect the free end of the cable to the phone.
After a short while iTunes should recognize a phone in "recovery mode" (iTunes doesn't know the difference between DFU and Recovery modes, but the phone does)
Release the HOME button and don't touch the phone or the computer until the process completes or you get an error message. Ignore any displays on the phone.
If the error recurs the phone was probably messed up when it was hacked. This is not a hardware problem, or if it is, it isn't one you can fix.
You can try repeating these steps with a different computer and a different cable. If that fails also the phone is probably not repairable. -
ITunes will not import mp4-files.
For some reason iTune will not import mp4-files into iTunes. The files only contain audio, no video. I know that mp4 is a format that combines the two.
The files were generated in an earlier version of iTunes, like in 2006 or something. They were imported from CD's. I can locate them just fine on my computer and they play without problem in Windows Media Player.
The problem is that when I try to import them the way that iTunes want me to import files its like they don't exist. ITunes locates the folders and sub-folders, but its like there's no content in the folders...
I've tried changing my import settings but nothing seems to help...
Have any of you encountered a similar problem, could you fix it and how?
I've contacted Apple-support but they were unable (incompetent) to assist me...
To me it seems like the only option left is to convert all the files, like 2 GB, from mp4 to mp3.

ITunes will not import wav files
iTunes will not allow importation of Apple Lossless or WAV files. It will allow AIFF files to import but won't play them.
Any ideas will be helpful.
Thank you: PatrickAre you positive they didn't import, or is it just that there aren't where you expect to find them? The thing about wav files is they don't accept tags, so if you import them they will just get added under the filename.
I would just copy across the whole media folder with libraries and all, then start iTunes with the option key held down and point it at the media folder. This will just use the library in its new location and you don't have to import, etc. -
Itunes will not import Amazon mp3s
I purchased an album of mp3s from Amazon. The files are .mp3 with no DRM. The files play perfectly in Windows Media Player on an XP and Vista PC. At first, the Amazon program copied them into iTunes and they played fine, but in the last few months these files have stopped playing in iTunes. I tried deleting them from iTunes and recopying them, but iTunes will not reimport these files.

ITunes will not import last song of any CD
Hi, hoping someone can help me out with this problem. I've been in the long process of importing all of my CD's on to my new iPod and was having no prblems until recently. From importing CD's perfectly, iTunes now stops from importing the very last song of every CD that I put in. It works right up until the last second of the last song then freezes, forcing me to ctrl/alt/del iTunes. All of the other songs go into the library. And, as an added bonus, iTunes does't play any songs on my computer - not as in I can't hear them, but as in the timer remains at 0.00 when I press play.
Can this problem be fixed at all? Any help would be very gratefully appreciated!hi Sarah!

Error R6034 during update. iTunes will not open due to error.
Get Error R6034, Application attmempting to load C runtime library incorrectly. iTunes will not install ammanulaly and now iTunes will not open due to error.
Try updating your QuickTime Player to the latest version. Does that clear up the DEP errors in iTunes?

Trying to import a CD but Gracenote not working.Itunes will not get cd info
When I put in an "original" cd, it shows as an audio cd in the sources, then pulls up tracks but will not pull up any cd info. I tried to "get info" and the gracenote box appeared for just a couple seconds and then nothing. I dont get an error - just nothing.
I use McAfee anti virus and firewall. itunes is listed in my allowed list for firewall.
I connect to the internet via verizon broadband wireless
When I click the get info, I can see the verizon internet is working.
I have tried several cd's and itunes will not find the track or album titles for any of them.

Thanks!I've solved the problem! My verizon broadband program has something called "Venturi" on it. Venturi compresses data so pages are supposed to load faster. I disabled this funtion (when you clik open the broadband program instead of connecting right to the internet I found a preferences or tools section & within that was a tab for Venturi. I unchecked the box that said to use Venturi). Now as soon as I put a disc in itunes grabs the info without any prompting.
I closed my internet connection and tried to reopen but it didnt load, so I re checked the venturi and it loaded. I'll play with that again when I get home. Instead of rechecking the venturi maybe I could have just refreshed the page. I dont know. Either way, as long as Venturi is disabled while using itunes everything works great! -

ever since I've reinstalled my pc with windows xp pro sp3, my itunes will not open at all.
every time i click on itunes.exe it does not do anything. It does give me the hourglass icon as if my pc is working on it. but then it disappears without any itunes response.
to fix this issue, I have tried any possible method that i could find on the internet. even called the support center but they were not able to help me either.
I have tried to reinstall itunes *(no effect)*
did something with the cryptographic something in the administrative tools menu *(no effect)*
I have deleted the itunes installer cache *(no effect)*
I installed any older versions,( btw 7 does not work either)but after updating it *(no effect)*
itunes 6 does work; but since i have an iphone it is completely useless for me. so *(no effect)*
the strange thing is that itunes.exe does appear in the "processes" tab in task manager, but it does not show in the "applications" tab.
and every time I shut down my pc, I get the windows message that itunes is shutting down.
If you have any other suggestions, please be so kind help me.
this is driving me nuts. It's been going on for two months now.

I am not sure if I have this right from all those posts.
When you try to start iTunes, there is no error message and you can see iTunes.exe persisting on the processes tab of the task manager.
If that is your probelm it is commonly do to a problem with cryptographic services.
Before looking into that there is a quick thing to try:

Make a careful note of any error messages you get, this is important. post back the names of any dlls mentioned in error messages.
