-50 The iPod "[name]" could not be synced. An unknown error has occured
This happens to me all the time AFTER I sync all data onto my iPod. Everything syncs on it, and then at the end, it displays the error. Even though all data is on it. This just happened now that I updated iTunes to 8.2 and put the iPhone OS 3.0 (iPod version) on my touch13019 appears to be related to Voice Memos. Remove (don't delete) all the voice memos then reimport them (they'll be in a "Voice Memos" folder in your "iTunes Music" folder) and you should be in the clear.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select anyiTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -

Error message says"the document Web could not be saved" help Please
After spending hours on the final tweeking of my iWeb site I go to publish it and get the message the document could not be saved. Is there anyone out there knows how to get this program to save I have tried everything and nothing. And as luck would have it I didn't keep a back copy of what I put into iWeb. Please help
thanks JeffWell I encountered the same problem and I had to quit and lose the changes but there is a way to save the information.
What you should do is first back up the domain file.
then before you quit and lose the changes, PRINT the pages as a PDF that way you save the information.
Then I reopened and started to match the pages in iWeb to the PDF's
Though I found out that when I copied some text into a Podcast page filler text from one of the PDF's it caused the same error.
So to get that piece to work, I deleted the text box and retyped that part and Presto! -

My iTunes parent control keeps giving me the same error message. “Parent control preferences could not be unlocked. You may need to reinstall iTunes. “I have uninstalled ant reinstalled iTunes that 4 time now and I still can’t get on. Can anyone help?
Experimental advice ... but, plausibly, the preference files containing the parental control setting may be damaged. If so, removing the iTunes preference files may help.
For the basic technique, see the "Remove iTunes preference files" section from the "User-specific troubleshooting" section of the following document:
iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues
To see those folders, you'll need to first set your PC to view hidden files and folders
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
Click OK.
Prior to doing the preference file rebuilds: Best to make a note of any custom preferences you have set up for your iTunes. (Rebuilding pref files returns preferences to their defaults ... so you'll likely have to set some of those custom preferences up again from scratch.) Also make a note of any third-party plugins/add-ons you have installed. You may have to reinstall those after the rebuilds.
Things to watch out for during the rebuilds
Rebuilding the preference files in the \Local\ location causes the iTunes license agreement to run. So you'll need to agree to that again.
Rebuilding the preference files in the \Roaming\ location causes the iTunes Setup Assistant to run. When prompted to do so, do not add files to your iTunes library. (Otherwise you'll end up with a library full of duplicates.) -
keep getting error message saying ipod detected but could not be identified properly - I have tried all the steps on the support page twice and it still will not work! I am running windows 8 (which it has worked with ok before) - struggling
I recently bought some new albums and can't play them on my ipodI just encountered the same problem on my 2 month old MBPro. I found a work around by changing USB ports. As for the actual cause or the reason why that worked, I dont know. The USB port I was using works fine with my phone or other USB devices.

If you are having issues with launching iTunes after an update, you may want to take a look at the troubleshooting in the following article:

Error message -48: The itunes library file cannot be saved.
Hello,
When I open up my itunes i get an error message 48 - the itunes library file cannot be saved. All my data is there - music, podcasts etc. Just wondering if this error message means anything, if so what, and what I can do to fix it?
Thanks!I just called Apple Support and I think they helped me, but I'm still waiting to see if the error message returns. I was experiencing the same problem. Whenever I started iTunes, I would get the -48 error message. Everything else was working fine. Apple Support instructed me to delete some files from a folder and restart my pc. I did this and it seems to have worked. The folder is on my C:/ drive. Using Windows Explorer, I went to my C:/ drive and then opened the following folders in this order: "Documents and Settings", "Administrator", "Application Data", "Apple Computer", "iTunes", "iPod Software Updates". Inside the iPod Software Updates folder, I found four files which I deleted. I then emptied my trash can and restarted my pc. After I restarted my pc and opened iTunes, the error message did not come up. So it looks like my problem has been solved. Just some minor glitch having to do with the last update. I should mention that I did just get an iPod Classic 80 gig which replaced my 30 gig iPod Photo which just died.
